Chapter 7

Several days had passed since the village chief came to see Caleb, after which several people came to the forest to cut down trees. Intriguing Caleb approached the village to find that new walls had been built all around the village.

He didn't really know what to think of that, would it be enough to hold the grimms back, it wasn't like it concerned him after all.

He turned around and headed for the clearing to wait there as usual. He walked for a few minutes when he heard a dull rumble in the distance, he could feel the ground vibrating under his feet and his instincts stirring deep inside him.

He wandered through the forest while looking for the source of this agitation when he finally left the forest and arrived in a gigantic plain. He looked all around him when he saw several movements in the distance.

It was too far away for him to tell what it was so he ran across the plain to get an answer and what he saw confirmed his suspicions. In the distance was a horde of grimms approaching at a rather slow speed.

From what he could see the horde was mostly made up of creeps, beowolfs, a few ursas and even a goliath in the center of the herd. Judging by the direction they seemed to be taking they would eventually get to the village and he doesn't think the village can hold up against so many grimms, even he who has become so much more powerful since killing the grimms who approached the village but this time he was really unsure of his chances of survival even he killed several of them and would end up being overwhelmed by their numbers.

He turned and headed back into the forest thinking about what to do next. Should he leave and leave the village to its fate or stay and try his luck against the horde....

Once back in the forest he paused for a moment to reflect then headed towards the village. Once he arrived he could see in the distance the village bustling with villagers walking the streets going to the market in the central square of the village.

He would have liked to be able to walk among all these people again but now it was impossible for him. Now was not the time for wailing, he had to do something more important now.

He stood on his two hind legs, took a deep breath, then let out a roar so powerful that the trees shook for a brief moment before the roar dissipated into the air.

He then looked towards the village and could see people leaving in all directions scared by the roar they had just heard. He managed to do what he wanted now he only had to wait. After several minutes a group of men arrived at the entrance of the village and among them was the person he was waiting for.

At the entrance of the village the men were grouped together, all with weapons in their hands looking at the beowolf who stood in the distance and who seemed much larger than the last time they saw him.

"I knew that damn monster was going to come back sooner or later to attack us!" said the man who had always opposed the idea of letting the grimm live in the forest so close to the village.

"Don't talk bullshit! If he wanted to attack us he probably would have done it a long time ago and surely wouldn't have waited until we were all there and armed to do it!" Said the other man who was arguing with him the last time.

"Silence you two! We don't know why he's here but there must be a reason." Said the leader while watching the beowolf carefully.

"Well...what do we do then?"

"You stay here! I'll see what he wants."

"What! Are you serious boss?!?"

The chief didn't listen to him and started walking towards Caleb. They found themselves face to face again and looked at each other without saying anything.

Caleb got back on his fours and turned toward the forest, nodding to the chief, telling him to follow him.

The man was surprised by what the grimm had just done in front of him, asking him to follow him, how a grimm could be so smart to ask such a thing.

He hesitated for a moment before finally deciding to follow him.

"Wait boss!"

"Where are you going?!?"

He could hear the calls of his men behind him but paid no attention to them. he entered and followed the beowolf while keeping a few meters between them because he was not going to completely trust a grimm.

They walked for a while, the leader tried to ask several times where they were going but Caleb just walked on. they finally arrived in the great plain and the chief looked all around him not understanding what they were doing there when caleb made a movement of the head showing the horizon.

The man saw it and turned his head in the direction he was looking and could see a dark shape looming in the distance. He narrowed his eyes and when he finally saw what it was his gaze widened in pure horror and he fell to his knees when he saw the horde of grimms approaching dangerously.
