1 Chapter One: Coping With Death

Most main characters don't die in the first hour of their journey. Most supporting cast doesn't die in the first hour either.

Carrow and his friend's didn't get the memo.

Finding oneself on the wonderful hellhole of a world that is Remnant, is some retards deepest desire.

They didn't get their intestines ripped-out by murderous black goat demons.

Nor did they witness their friends die equally gruesome deaths.

They didn't die choking on blood as the black demons feasted on their flesh.

Nor did they have to listen to the screams of the dead and dying friends, people he had laughed and bonded with.

Carrow and his friends did not want to be on Remnant. Sadly that is what life has dealt them.

Thirteen times for Carrow; unlocking his aura and his semblance to start ripping out the goat fuckers horns and gutting the basterds Doom style. His semblance enhancing his reflexes and instincts, while dulling pain and emotions.

Nine for Max; lucky guy, unlocked his aura and semblance early, using it to sneak away.

Nineteen for poor DeeJay, unlocking his aura, but not everyone is as lucky as Max and Carrow to get their semblance first try. Personally Carrow thought that in all that dying a bolt or two got lose in DeeJay's head.

As the sun set a sanguine light rose from the aridic dirt covered in blood and visceral gore. Three men, young they are, naked as the day they were born. One sat on the dead corpse of the demons, Grimm, they are called, his chest heaving up and down and his fist set in an iron grip around a white and red stained bone horn.

His dark brown hair filled with the dark blood of his foes and his feet and shins covered in the lighter shade of red from past deaths. He was neither handsome nor ugly, although one could say he was above average in looks. He had a tall, around six feet, if rather lanky stature, yet as the haunting glow of a aura colored purple surrounded his body, he cut an intimidating figure. A deep scowl was on his face and a dangerous glare focused on one of his corpses. This was Carrow.

Another laid on the ground starfished, his brown eyes unfocused simply in deep thought. He was short in statue, around five foot nine. He too had rather average looks although his figure was frail and weak. Asian in race as apposed to Carrow who was Caucasian. His head tilted, cheek meeting with blood stained ground as he looked at the mound of bodies with odd indifference. This was Max.

The third was pacing, his arms pumping in odd formations, mumbling to himself that he was alive and not dead over and over again. He too was of Asian decent although taller and more athletic than Max. His dark eyes clouded and distant, seeing something not there. This was DeeJay.

"What now?" Spoke Carrow. His voice was deep, although with the lighter hint of a youth that had escaped puberty. His question was more to himself than to the others. His azure blue eyes narrowed as he looked at the terror etched onto one of his corpses. 'Pathetic'.

"Build. Learn. Fight. Live. Die. Then again, forever more, or until we die of old age." Max said, oddly philosophical for the quiet guy. "We have powers now, don't we." He finished that with an odd expression. Eagerness filled with a dangerous tightening of the eye.

"Mmm. Yeah, powers." Muttered DeeJay, closing his eyes and focusing, "It's like if someone took Rust and Tinker Powers from Worm and they had a kid, but it was like they tried to abort the thing, but failed." He promptly went on a tangent, but Carrow couldn't help but give a chuckle.

"We'll need resources, wood is obvious, but what about metals, sulfur, components?" Carrow closed his eyes and focused on the block of information that explained their power and the situation. All three of them did the same. "Ah, metal, stone, and sulfur can be mined, and deposits will glow when we are near them, but it is recommended to have a quarry to dig-up large amounts of the resource. Meanwhile components can be crafted at various workbenches in batches." He explained with his friends nodding in confirmation, finding the same answer.

A section of the information was dedicated toward where the hell they are. "Menagerie, huh." Carrow muttered.

"Hey, Carrow, this is that RWBY show you were talking about one day right?" DeeJay called out.

"Yeah, animation was garbage, the story was like, half-way decent and I dropped it in like the third episode. But after I got into fanfiction I gave it a try so I know some meta-knowledge. Pretty decent world building, though Menagerie was this worlds analogue to Australia." Carrow confirmed, nodding his head.

"Kind of makes you wonder about your place in the universe right, a fictional world made by some dead Asian dude, and here we are with powers based off a video game." Max piped in.

"Existentialism can come after we figure out how to make nukes and murder all the Grimm on the planet, then toss the BBEG into the sun." Carrow muttered, not really feeling like questioning his existence after dying multiple times. Both of them heard him though, and gave deep meaningful nods, as if they just heard god speak words of grand wisdom.

A grin crept up on Carrow's face before he started chuckling, then DeeJay joined in, finally they were all laughing. Yeah, this is gonna be fun.

Watch out Remnant, three more immortals have joined your play.
