1 Latrice the girl who's Isolated

This is my first time writing a web novel. I'm not really good at English, but I'm trying my best to write my story straightforwardly and understandably. I wrote this story because, somehow, I want to express myself through it.

This story contains grammatical errors and typos, and I'm sorry that somehow I can't check them carefully.

If you are a very sensitive person, perhaps it's good for you not to read the story at all to avoid being triggered.

I can't say that my story is practically good or, let's say, it's boring, but Lykoris is trying her best not to bore you out.

This is real-life inspired.

If you are curious about the character's appearance, feel free to visit my Instagram, I post updates and art regarding my story there; Find me via insta i.d lykorisu.

If you have anything in mind, please don't be afraid to reach out.

And for the rest, please enjoy the story!

(This book will be getting revision soon)

Thank you for reading!

Chapter 1

((First Person's POV))

((Latrice))

'Being different is a hard challenge for a girl like me; I was gifted with this thing called "Real Sight," which enables me to see things that ordinary people cannot. Ghost, apparitions, elements, and most of all, mythical creatures. Because of that, I chose to stay away from people. To others who only think of themselves, they will never understand how to live in the darkness, surrounded by these anomaly creatures.

Even my mother abandoned me after my father passed away. She separated me from my only brother, and now I am under the supervision of my grandmother.

Well, at least I can say I have a quiet life now.

***

I was on the rooftop all by myself. As usual, no one ever wanted to be friends with me. I would say ghosts could be the only friends I have.

"Uwah~ Hatsune Miku is so cute!" I mumbled to myself, and it was not long before the stream started playing by itself.

But an unexpected video popped out into the stream. "Huh?" Curiously, the stream changed itself.

When I tried to go back to the previous video, it seems like I don't have the authority to do so any longer.

This weird video started playing by itself and began to say something eerie.

"Hug me... hug me... hug me." As the stream continued, the voice went deeper and lower as if trying to frighten someone.

If curiosity kills the cat, I guess I'm already dead.

As I watched the video, I noticed the rude and harsh comments on it.

- Fame whore.

- If you want fame, why don't you do something fun with me? www.

- I bet that little thing down there is small as it is lololol.

- Lololol, what a worthless.

The guy in the Livestream seems to be in a state of panic, although I can't see his looks because of the paper bag covering his face. It appears that all of these inconsiderate comments were affecting him too much.

"I'm going to jump off this building, and you will discern how I will become a legend!"

I realized that this guy is serious. He's playing at the top of the balustrades; I was alarmed that he could fall at any moment.

He was taking a video on where anyone can tell that he will die if he misses a step.

Once again, I glanced at the comment section, and I found out that I was not the only one who's getting worried about his actions.

- No! don't do it! Become a legend in another way!

- No, don't jump!

- Many people care for Ruru-kun.

A minute later, I heard a sound coming from a piano playing in the Live stream. It sounds like 'Rudolf the red nose reindeer' but in a creepy tone, repeatedly getting to my head. I thought I would get a headache because of it. He's pressing every key like a madman! He was so messed up.

So I tried my best to stop him from everything.

Commenting like, "Ruru-kun! I know you feel right now, but could you please calm down for a minute? Don't do anything reckless!"

But I was wondering, why do I get heated up on this. Why do I care this much? Well, even if it weren't him, it would still stir me up if anyone was in a similar state.

But those insulting comments didn't seem to cease, even just for a second.

- Lol, boring, just jump already...!!!

- You all talks.

- What the heck? Bet you can't do it.

I smiled bitterly as I read the comments, 'There are lots of people who have a heart of a varmint!'

"Wait, where is this stream being held?" I asked myself. "There should be a place indicated here." I scanned through my screen just to find the precise location. Afterward, I stood up and instantly took the fastest run I had ever done in my entire life just to stop him, for his own sake.

I rushed outside the school since it was already afternoon, and no one will question me even if I skipped my class.

Beforehand, I commented on the Livestream that he should wait for me.

"Please, don't take that path. You still have the future ahead."

Since his location is close to my school, I didn't have a hard time finding it.

"The place was an apartment hotel, but what's with this feeling? Somehow, the whole place was covered with a dark aura." I took my step into the hotel ground, but I restrained myself when I heard his voice in the live stream.

"Humans are really stupid." My eyes widened, focusing again on the phone I was holding.

The video became shaky, as if the phone was being attached to his face because I could see from his line of sight.

A moment later, he jumped off the building.

"No!" Shockingly, I yelled.

"Ahhh!" The regretful voice can be heard in the stream, and the loud sound of a body banged into the ground.

I couldn't control my emotion, so I tried to stay calm by closing both of my eyes. Suddenly, I experienced difficulty in breathing. "Latrice, you have to get yourself together. Breath in. Breath out."

"I'm in the exact location where he jumped. I should call for 911." Deciding to open my eyes again, I tried to dial 911, but I flinched because of confusion about something.

When I looked around, there's no one. A deafening silence welcomed me. Not a single person can be seen! Neither a dead body and what's worse was that the whole place itself is deadly peaceful!

I started to walk around and explore the whole place.

"Where is the dead body?" I muttered, looking back at my phone and saw the stream still ongoing. There were comments like, "Now you've truly become a legend." and "Pathetic."

He's already dead, but the hate comments kept on increasing!

I gave up; not a single soul could be seen here. "Where the heck is he? Did I get into the wrong place? Do dead body moves? Ugh! I don't understand. I was sure that this would be the right place!"

"And a disturbing silence..." I stared at the top of the hotel from the ground floor.

I sighed, "What am I even doing here?"

"Hey..." As I heard a voice, I noticed a boy coming down from the 13th floor of the building. I felt my whole body becomes cold, "Should I look? If I just take a little peek, then it'll be okay, right?" I whispered to myself.

I remembered Euclece's sermons to me, "Don't look or even catch an eye to the things that normal people can't see. You are not normal, so at least act normal."

How could I ever ignore them if I can see them? The live stream just now is not normal at all; it caught my attention, and I ended up here—Latrice, what an idiot you are. You have been caught again in an apparition before you know it.

I turned back to him, trying to escape in such a situation. But when I did, the boy is already in front of me! His feature looks like a junior high school, and I think he's about around14 or 15 years old.

"Hey, you can see me, right?" the boy said. I tried to avoid him by diverting my eyes in another direction. My whole body was sweating, and somehow I felt nervous.

'I don't see you at all. Yes, I don't see anything because I don't have that kind of power.' Those thoughts were running through my head. I was trying to convince myself, which I was aware won't work.

'I need to go! Should I pass through him? Ugh, I bet it'll be weird for me.'

"Tsk! Stop ignoring me!" the boy finally lost his patience by moving one of the bicycles that were neatly stationed.

'He can move things! Latrice, what have you done. This spirit is evil! Normal ghost can't do that; I need to get out of here now!' I thought.

"Ahh!" Shouting as I saw the bike move. I tried to act as normal as I could. I ran towards the exit, passing him through. As I reached the exit, I turned around, but unexpectedly, I met his gaze.

"I don't think you can't see me at all." I heard his final words like a whisper through the air, sad and desolate.

I hate to think this, but that guy seems to be lonely.

----

When I reached my home, Euclece was there waiting for my arrival. Euclece is my friend, and she is a ghost. She guards our home, not only from the humans but also from the evil spirits lurking around.

Euclece's story is a bit saddening, she was raped and killed by several men, and her body was dumped in this area. When I arrived in this apartment hotel for the first time, I saw her covered in blood and in such a nasty state, but she changed her appearance for me.

"Welcome back home, Latrice!" She greeted me with excitement written all over her face. She was floating in mid-air while following me inside my room.

I did not see my grandma on the spot. She always hung around. So for me, it's a bit weird.

"Euclece, where is grandma?" I asked.

"She was brought to the hospital by your mother. Lately... Your grandma's health is getting worse, so they implied that she would be staying there for a few weeks until she gets stable." So my mom was here, and she did not even bother to see her daughter.

I couldn't help but sulk.

"Aww, don't wear such a face. Cheer up, my baby!" I went to the kitchen to cook something that would relieve my hunger, "Hey, Euclece. Do you know some guy who committed suicide in a hotel apartment near my school?"

"Every day, I can hear news about a man committing suicide... hmm? Not only one, though." Euclece shrugged.

'Well, she is right. Many people are committing suicide these days. I might as well, someday.' I bluntly said to myself.

That ghost was a bit different, for he knew I could see him even though I gave all of my efforts to act like normal people do whenever they encountered that kind of situation.

"By the way, Latrice-chan. Are you doing fine from ignoring other ghosts?" I nodded as I started to cook the egg, and since there was rice in the rice cooker, I did not bother. After that, I served the egg together with the rice on the table.

"Yes, so far. They don't know I have that ability with me." That's what I want to believe, but I just stared at a ghost right in the eyes earlier! What will Euclece think if that ghost followed me here?

"Hmm, that's great..." Amusingly nodding, "What a pain that you can see us, but I'm still thankful you can see me. I don't have to be all by myself; It's so lonely for a ghost-like me." She added. I could see her relief while she was smiling at me.

"Perhaps, it was lonely for him too." I thought to myself.

After that, I took a rest in my room.

Once again, reminiscing what the ghost said before he jumped off, "These humans are really stupid." I bet he meant it. "Come to think of it, how was I able to watch that video in the first place? And it was a live stream." I was getting a headache just from thinking of it, "Maybe someone hacked the website? That's nonsense!"

"Oh well. I need to pass the prints to my teacher's house tomorrow. So, I'd better be sleeping." I hugged my long pillow and called it a night.

-----

The next day, I went out early to pass the prints because I need to visit my grandma in the hospital. When I arrived at my teacher's house, I stopped in front of his door and pushed the doorbell.

"Who is it?" He quickly responses on the other side, "Umm. Teacher, it's me, Latrice. I'm here to hand out the prints."

He then unlocked his door, but I was surprised when to see him half-naked.

"Good timing!" He said, "I feel sick. Will you treat me kindly?" suddenly grabbing my wrist tightly, he forces me to enter his house. I tried to struggle, but he was so reckless dragging me inside, "Teacher!" I shouted in a fearful sound.

I don't have enough force to push him or anything. Instead, he's the one who pushed me, causing me to fall over the floor.

I saw him locking his door, from that moment I felt frightened. He stared at me like he was a wolf that will eat his prey.

"Teacher, why are you doing this?" I was shouting at him, please someone help me!

He didn't even bother to answer me. Instead, he sat onto me and started to caress and kiss me all over my body.

I knew to myself what kind of situation I'm in. I already realized that, but look how powerless I am! I can do nothing at all. My tears started to drip down my cheek; my hands are pinned down a little struggling didn't help. I can't even move my body!

"Stop struggling! I'll just treat myself, and after that, I will release you." He muttered. Who the hell is in their right mind to let you do what you want?

"No!" Opposing what he said, I attempt to fight hopelessly, but he suddenly strips my upper shirt; I can't see anymore because my tears are blocking my sight.

"Please don't---" Before I had to finish my sentence, my eyes widen when I caught a glimpse of the ghost yesterday. He was watching me with an uncertain expression on his face.

The teacher began to move more like an animal; he licked every part of my body. I felt so gross from it.

"P-please help me..." I mumbled to the thin air, hoping that my plea will reach him.

"You pretended that you couldn't see me before, yet you can see me now? Funny! Is it because you are in such a situation?..." Yes, my words reached him, but all he does is ridicule me, "How about 'I don't even see you now? That'll serve you right"
