Prologue ~ Twilight

If there's one word that shouldn't have a set definition to it, it should be the word normal. The reasoning is simple; everyone has their own version of what's normal and what's not. For some, normal was sitting in a quiet place and reading. For others, it was getting together with a big group of friends and partying the night away. For me, normal was waking up to a houseful of vampires.

The Olympic Coven, or better known as the Cullen family, took me into their care when I was only a few weeks old. My adoptive parents, Carlisle and Esme Cullen, were the ones to find me alone and abandoned in a forest surrounding a demolished town; one caught in the crossfire of a war between two other vampire covens. I was the sole survivor of the attack.

My parents may have been the ones to find me, but it was my siblings that convinced them to keep me. Emmett, Alice, and Edward Cullen, as well as Rosalie and Jasper Hale, were my adoptive siblings. Alice had the ability to see the future, and it was her vision of me that sealed the deal. If the Cullen's had placed me in a human adoption agency as they planned to, I would have only ended up dead a few years later by the hands of a vampire.

I couldn't be more thankful to my family. i was the only human in the household, and I knew without a doubt every day would be a struggle for them; especially for Jasper, who to this day was fighting his thirst for human blood. It was also thanks to their 'vegetarian' ways that my living with them was even possible.

But, living with immortal, un-aging beings means having to move locations every so often. We couldn't afford to have anyone grow suspicious. This was mostly the reason I kept my social life limited to my family, even though the majority of them encouraged me to make human friends. I didn't want to get attached to anyone to have to leave them.

But, it was here in Forks, Washington, a small town surrounded by trees that my brother met her. And she was about to bring would of trouble I wasn't prepared for.
