Twin Brother

Klaus

"What do you think you're doing here?!" I asked with a voice full of contempt. My voice was lowered to a whisper, so we wouldn't cause a commotion.

"My big brother is getting married today, don't you think I should have been invited?" Icarus returned with a smug smile on his face. He walked past me and casually took a drink off of the table before his eyes finally landed on Lisa who had a confused look on her face.

"Is this your bride? As usual you have exquisite taste in women, Klaus." Icarus commented before leaning in closer to Lisa. He took her hand and planted a kiss on it. "I'm Icarus Farkas, it's nice to meet...."

"Lisa Thornberry.." She replied politely.

I swiftly intervened and immediately pulled Lisa's hands out of Icarus's own. He was going way too far with this act of his, and he was taking advantage of the fact that we were in public. Acting out of line would not only hurt my reputation, but would also throw the entire room into chaos. It was something I couldn't risk happening, and for that sake alone I had to be lenient with him.

"I'm going to give you a chance to leave without causing a scene. If you fail to comply, then I'm going to have the guards send you out forcefully." I cautioned as mildly as I could while maintaining my domineering aura all at the same time. Icarus was strong, he was an Alpha just like myself, and I knew that mild words wouldn't be enough to make him leave.

Icarus chuckled deviously before lowering the drink down to the table. He threw Lisa a seductive glance before finally turning to meet my gaze. "I'll return soon, and when I do, it's to take the throne and your wife—"

A punch sent Icarus spiraling into one of the tables, and finally he found himself in the cold embrace of the tiled floor. The commotion had stirred up a ruckus as people pushed each other to get out of Icarus's way.

"What's happening?"

"Is that the Alpha's twin brother? What's he doing here?"

Those were the most dominant questions asked by the congregation. All eyes had turned towards the fallen man as he slowly rose from the floor. He had blood trickling down from his nostrils, but despite sustaining damage, Icarus still maintained the smug he had on his face.

"Enjoy it while it lasts." He whispered before pushing past me roughly and walking towards the exit. The maids immediately rushed in and began to take care of the mess, and soon everything had returned to normal, everything but my mood.

"Get up, we're leaving." I said to Lisa who had been quiet ever since Icarus's appearance. She couldn't say anything even if she wanted to. She had no idea who Icarus was, so I couldn't blame her for anything that had just opened.

Lisa stood without hesitation and immediately walked over to my side. I could tell that she had been waiting to hear those words since she got here, and now that I had just said it, she wasted no time in obeying me.

"You're leaving already? Won't the elders say something if you leave before the end?" Damon inquired as he walked behind me and Lisa.

"They can say what they want, I don't care. If anyone asks, tell them Lisa had a headache and had to leave. And as her husband, I cannot leave her alone, especially not on our wedding night." I informed Damon before Lisa and I finally exited the room.

She glanced at me from time to time, and each time I caught sight of her peering eyes, she would turn away and act as though she hadn't been looking at me moments ago. Fed up with the games she was playing, I quickly demanded an explanation. She was making me uncomfortable with her constant on and off stares, and I had to find out why she was doing that.

"It's just that...the man from earlier, is he your brother?" She asked with obvious trepidation. This was probably the first question she had ever asked me since I brought her into the castle, and while I was tempted to just ignore her and shun her from ever bringing up Icarus, I knew it was necessary to get her informed on how dangerous Icarus was. She was now my queen, and since we were going to spend a long time together, it was crucial for her to know the basic information about me.

"He's my twin brother, and he's a man who's up to no good. If you ever see him, turn the other way and don't look back." I said to her in a calm yet serious tone. Once again she glared at me with curious eyes before turning away. "What? What is it again?!"

She trembled a little at the rise in my tone, but soon adjusted to the current condition. She swallowed hard to clear the lump in her throat, and only after that was she able to speak without stammering. "H-he said something about coming for the throne, I realized it made you angrier than his previous remarks. Is that the reason you captured me? Did you separate me from Mark just so you could keep your status as Alpha?"

Instinctively, I pinned her against the wall and slammed an arm over her head in a threatening manner. She had gotten a bit brave, and now she was speaking way too much. "You would have left Mark eventually, he was never your mate, I am! And never again mention that name near me ever!"

I left her shivering by the wall and returned to our room. I had a lot of problems to deal with, and Mark was not one of them. Icarus had just threatened to take both my throne and her away, and all she could think of was her boyfriend who lived in the slums of the streets. I understood that she was a Kindhearted individual, but this was no time for kindness. War had just been declared, and the only thing that mattered to me was winning.
