Chapter 7

Edith was a little dazed, her eyelashes flickering and blinking, her crystal-like eyes shining brightly as she looked up at Alston with a little doubt.

Alston had seldom seen such translucent eyes, so pure and unadulterated that just one more moment of looking at them would have dazzled and lost him in their beauty.

It was just a shame that there were little lumps crumpled together above the pretty eyes ...

Edith watched Lila disappear in the stairway but turned back to meet Alston's gaze, she hurriedly picked up her cup of water, buried her head and drank,
