Dominator's Cookbook

For the first few minutes of eating everything was silent besides the sound of constant chewing and swallowing until finally, Daniel was the first to finish his food and lick the plate clean.

"Holy Shit! That was amazing, where did you learn to cook like that James. I've been to some of the best restaurants in the city and never had anything close to this."

James knew full well that his food was better due to his knowledge of cooking, from things like controlling the temperature of the flame using his magus powers, to using special methods from his world to prepare the meats. If his cooking was inferior just with his knowledge of recipes alone then he didn't deserve to have his mind at all.

"It's just something I picked up growing up making my own food, it's nothing amazing."

'Man if they're reacting like this just to the bit of food I made outdoors then what would they say if I had an actual kitchen to use? I might have to look into opening a restaurant soon. I suppose I could incorporate it into the Dominators tower. I'll have to write a letter to Fletcher when I get to the Academy.

System, can you start compiling recipes with the lowest cost that also have all the ingredients available in this world, or ones I can reasonably make like the balsamic vinegar replacement, attach the substitutes to the recipes as well, please. Oh, and stack variants together too.'

"You could make some serious money off cooking, I would come to eat from you every day if I could!"

"Well, give me a few months and we'll see what I can come up with."

The rest of the group ate their fill and spoke to each other with big smiles on their faces, apparently, sharing a nice meal is all it takes to bring people together.

While everyone was together James began preparing the meat he was going to dry overnight, he wanted to have some nice preserves to snack on and hopefully sell as snacks when he got to the academy. Also depending on what he had to do for the entrance exam, the preserves may come in handy.

"James, why don't you want to get closer to any of us? Do you seriously have to be such a loner all the time?"

Daniel had approached James after finishing his meal and was evidently upset with James constantly shutting him down when he tried to initiate a friendship, so he decided to call him on it.

"I won't lie to you, I just really don't get on with people well, I'm not used to being around them a lot of the time so it just feels uncomfortable."

James had just lied to Daniel, he knew full well that he had no problem being around people it was just that he didn't like being around people with the gap in mental age. The kids were all too naive for James to have any trust in them to tell them what he was thinking. That was why James got on with Fletcher so well, Fletcher knew that whatever James told him required a certain level of discretion and couldn't freely be repeated to others, he also wouldn't be easily tricked into telling anyone anything.

"If you don't like being near people then why not just lock yourself up for the rest of your life, it's basically what you're doing now. Fine if you want to live your life alone then go ahead, no one's going to stop you!" Daniel obviously felt that what James had told him wasn't the truth and that James just wanted to get rid of him for some reason.

'I'm sorry Daniel, you seem nice enough but I really can't get out of my own head.'

'Call it Dominators' Cookbook.'

James was beginning to see a vision of the future. Dominator Corporation, business at the forefront of every branch, a power capable of running the world with its financial ability alone. What was the point of removing the monarch in a kingdom if you could just own them as figureheads for example? Run the kingdom from behind the scenes and look down at everything from the top, James' mindset was beginning to live up to the title of his business.

'This could be amazing, oh my god, when did I start thinking of owning the world. What the hell?! I mean it would be nice though.

Screw it!

What's the point of having the knowledge to revolutionise any field if you don't use it! I'm not gonna fuck up and spend my entire life just existing like last time, that world's behind me now. It's time to start my real life! I'm not going to sit around and wait to get beaten to death.

I can do more than that, I WILL do more than that!'

After finding a firm direction James wanted to head in he decided it was time for him to run a few practices, be it his martial arts or his abilities as a magus, even his weapons use he had the potential to be taken to the forefront of this world but he had to practice first. Without hard work, he wasn't going to achieve a single thing.

One thing that was now firmly planted in his mind was that the world wouldn't give him anything, you had to take it with an iron fist.

The world won't give you a happy life because you asked for it, you won't have great friendships waiting for them to come to you, you won't find anything special if you never go looking for it.

You'll simply watch it pass by and wonder why you were so unlucky to never get the chance to experience it.

'I think it's time I start adjusting my thinking, I'm too stuck up on my last life, what the hell am I doing. I can make friends with every old bastard in this world but that's pointless, the people around me right now are the future, what's the point in influencing their parents or even their grandparents when it's so much easier to influence them. Provided nothing goes wrong they'll be the ones that get everything in the end anyway.

He's beginning to believe...
