One Step Forward Two Steps Back

Alaric flew with Ethan outside of the city to where Sarah and Barry were waiting. They already had the vehicle ready to go.

Alaric tossed Ethan into the seat and hopped in the back of the vehicle himself, "let's go! I'm not sure how long those monsters and automatons can hold those soldiers back!"

Sarah floored the gas peddle, and they drove through the forest, back towards the monster lands.

Alaric winced as he heard the many explosions and sounds of gunshots behind him. It was alarming to him.

He turned to face Ethan, "you've killed the general, and fulfilled your first purpose; now, your life belongs to me."

Ethan nodded, "yes, sir."

Barry made a suggestion, "why don't we focus on being a little quieter now? We don't have anywhere close to the strength of a nation, and no one who supports us, so it could be a little dangerous if we continue the way we are."

Everyone nodded in agreeance.
