4 Onslaught

All nine people in the room tensed up. Like a western duel, everyone stood still. After about thirty seconds, the first person took action.

"Hey, there's no need for us to fight. There must be a misunderstanding. None of us signed up for this."

It was the man who spoke up from before. He raised his hands above his head as he walked towards the middle of the room. A few people followed suit as they raised their hands and walked forward.

However, a few people remained still as they read the situation.

"Screw you guys! I'll be the one to survive!"

A lanky man with an undercut pulled out a sharp rock as he started slicing the people around him. His tongue out as he licked the blood off his knife.

Darwin's eyes' widened in shock. He had never seen blood or gore to this degree. He bent over and threw up whatever remained in his stomach as tears started to emerge. Keeled over, he felt a man pat him on his back.

Darwin looked up to see the old muscular man patting his back. He spoke softly in broken english.

"You innocent. Stay here. D-don't watch."

The man strode over to the middle of the room. He looked back to Darwin. He nodded and ran over to the man with the makeshift knife.

He grabbed the man's neck and slammed him into the ground, instantly killing him. He scanned the battlefield and ran over to other attackers, swiftly dealing crippling blows to every single one of them.

'Oh my god! He's killing them! I have to get away from him! I have to get out of here!'

Darwin fumbled to get up as he saw a battered man walk over to him, in his hand a piece of dyed bone sharpened to the extreme.

The man rushed over to Darwin at lightning speed, he swung at Darwin as he struggled to run away. They flew into a grappling stance as the man swung at every opportunity. Thankfully, Darwin's short stature and build allowed him to nimbly dodge every lethal swipe.

"Just die already kid!"

The man growled as he threw the knife haphazardly at Darwin's shoulder. The blade embedding itself into Darwin's right pex as he cried out in agony.

"Ahhh!"

Darwin's screams alerted the old man with blood on his hands. Five bodies littering the ground around him. He snapped his neck in Darwin's direction as he hastily picked up one of the many bodies around him as he cocked his arm back.

Darwin kicked and flailed his arms to escape the oncomer as suddenly the man with the weapon was gone. Darwin looked to his side to see two bodies smashed together on the wall. The man was no more.

Terrified, Darwin looked back to the man who had slaughtered everyone in the room. The man looked back to Darwin and smiled.

"You. Live. Get strong. Take Back. What's. Yours."

The man spoke in a broken manner once again as he sat down in a butterfly stance. He then proceeded to pray over the bodies he had torn to shreds.

'Is he saying sorry to the people he gruesomely murdered?"

Darwin had no respect to the people who had just tried to kill him. He understood wanting to live, but killing eight others to survive? He couldn't do that.

The old man sighed as he put his hand on his neck. Putting pressure on his throat, his fingers dug through his skin, destroying his air pipes and ending his life.

Darwin stopped and pushed back tears. He felt gratitude towards the man who saved his life. Then, he looked up, wondering what would happen to him next.

"Oh wow, that was an unexpected development. I guess things don't always turn out as you expect them too. Oh well, congrats kid. You just bought yourself a ticket to the next trials."

The voice rang through the hall as he giggled uncontrollably. Darwin thought that the voice sounded familiar. He then realized that he knew who was speaking.

A door opened up from the sleek wall. Light erupting from every corner. Darwin walked through it.

...

Sir was walking through the corridors as he stopped at a room. It's door protecting whatever was inside. Pitch chains locking the door in place.

"Well, I guess it's almost time then."

Sir pulled out a pipe as he lit it. Inhaling the acrid smoke, he pulled out a card and put his hand upon the door.

"Tell the doctor to accelerate the trials. We cannot keep our lord waiting any longer. Proceed with the surgeries now. Tell him he has 10 months at most."

A scrawny man nodded his head as he quickly ran to relay his message.

Ten Months Later...

Darwin was sitting in his cell. In a butterfly stance, he breathed in and out. He had been doing this for eight months. During his captivity here, he had been put through many ruthless trials and torture.

The innocent kid that arrived was slowly being chipped away at. His physical scars nothing compared to his mental ones.

The doctor had him do a physical exam and a mental one every day. He was put through many different situations and was victim to the doctors sadistic tendencies.

After two months, new subjects were sent in and the trials worsened. Darwin was forced to take these black pills, which brought on horrible nightmares along with hallucinations of his parents' deaths.

What kept him going was the small chance that his Aunt was okay. He prayed that she could live on without him.

While Darwin was undergoing torture, he would overhear the doctor talking to his superior. Darin found out that the person who led this hell was a man named Sir. He discovered that this experiment took people with little connections to the outside world and experimented on them to create a new weapon.

He knew that his time would run out by the end of this month. The doctor took the subjects based on their results. He'd take the extraordinary ones first. They never came back.

Darwin deliberately held back during his trials and only put out the minimum requirements to escape being sent out. Although he tried, he became numb to the pain. His back and arms covered in burns and cuts.

Darwin heard footsteps as he lifted his head up, his beautiful amber eyes swallowed by the hatred in his stare.

"Number Four, it's your turn."

The doctor stood outside Darwin's cell as his lips curled into a wicked smile...
