5 The Prince is a transmigrator?

"Sit down, I wish to have a talk."

The Prince gestured towards the empty chair, opposite his study table. Cheng Ye, making sure his etiquette was proper, strode over to the table and took a seat, thanking the Prince as he did so. The Prince entwined his fingers, resting his chin upon them before assuming a dead serious look, "Before we start, I want you to know lying in any way is futile. Please refrain from doing so as you will be punished by jail time if you do."

'Jesus! How was this even a talk? This was basically an interrogation!"

Cheng Ye panicked internally at the turn of events, however he kept calm and replied in a respectful tone, "Yes, Your Highness."

"We heard that we you were found, your body suffered from a multitude of burns and scratches while you were also muttering words along the lines of being bombed. Could you explain this to us?"

Cheng Ye took a deep breath to calm himself before answering, "I was in a military base of GreyFort when our forces were ambushed by a platoon of troops from a rival country. We were able to defend off the initial attack, however shortly after, our air defence turrets and units were all destroyed by remote explosives. We were then bombed by those devils, our troops suffered greatly before a H8K4 Nuclear Standard Explosive was dropped and wiped us out."

Although Cheng Ye seemed extremely engaged in retelling his story, years of military training allowed him to catch an extremely minor detail. Every time he finished a point, the leather jacket of the Prince would compress slightly, as if being indented by an object.

Acting as if nothing had been noticed, Cheng Ye sighed in sadness before continuing, "I have no recollection of how I got to this city, nor do I remember what had happened after the blast, however I heard from the police that we're currently in a western country. May I have the grace to know where we are, Your Highness?"

The Prince took a moment to think, "We are currently in the city of Neverwinter and the country of Greycastle which even you yourself stated earlier."

Cheng Ye stood up abruptly, noticing a sudden drop in temperature in the room and a feeling of imminent danger, however he spoke in a neutral tone, "With all due respects, Your Highness, however GreyFort has never been ruled by a monarchy, it was founded by a socialist government and has never changed."

The Prince held out his hand with a motion that seemed to be stopping another, "May I know what year it is right now?"

Cheng Ye wrinkled his brows in confusion, there was truly no real reason to ask sch a simple yet pointless question. "It's 2043, Your Highness."

Cheng Ye was about to comment further when the Prince burst out in a fit of laughter, 'How improper!'

"Nightingale, you can leave us alone," the Prince spoke towards the empty air behind him. Cheng Ye looked in confusion, 'Was the Prince going insane? What the hell was this?'

The instant after the Prince finished his words, a unthinkable beauty appeared out of thin air, playing with a revolver which a unique signature engraved into it, <To Veronica>.

Out of shock, Cheng Ye backed away quickly, forgetting the oak wood chair behind him which caused him to stumble awkwardly into the seat.

"Your Highness, my duty is your safety, I must stay here in case you get yourself into trouble."

"This is a special case Nightingale. It's fine, just stay outside and if you hear me shout, come in and save me."

The mysterious woman rolled her eyes at the Prince's carelessness before exiting the room, muttering as she left, "But I can't hear anything from outside..."

Moments after the door closed shut, the Prince stood up and reached out for a hand shake, "Sorry for the earlier reception, my name is Cheng Yan and I'm most likely from the same world that you came from."

Cheng Ye reached out to accept the hand shake, "Another world, by what do you mean?"

Cheng Yan smiled before pulling out a military grade map and replying, "What if I told you that we were currently in a medieval era?"

Cheng Ye took the map carefully, examining the key points on the map while locating the City of Neverwinter while also several major landmarks he had seen, such as the towering forests on the border of the city. "But that's not possible, time travel was proved scientifically impractical for humans long ago."

The Prince answered with a beaming smile, "Not only that, but we are also in a world filled with magic and other phenomenal concepts yet to be discovered."

Cheng Ye thought deeply after hearing the Prince's words, 'True, how else could that woman remain invisible and come out at her will like that. But it's scientifically incorrect...' As Cheng Ye was an accomplished scientist while also an atheist, magic and such were just lies and deception to him, and yet this was the only explanation available to everything that had happened, the invisible girl, that ice cold feeling when he stood up, the odd yet amazingly effective treatment of his wounds.

'Maybe supernatural things like these just has to be accepted sometimes.'

The Prince reached out his hand and patted Cheng Ye lightly on the shoulder, "I know how you feel, it's simply unnatural right?" Cheng Ye nodded his head lightly, still deep in contemplation over this newfound magic.

Cheng Yan continued in an exciting tone, eyes blazing with intensity, "The magic can create amazing miracles! The first witch I met, just her ability could already defy the second law of thermodynamics, the second witch could heal wounds without a hitch, the third..."

Nightingale sat outside of the room, slowly chewing away at a large fish flavoured biscuit. Her ears were perked for even the slightest call from Roland and yet she could hear nothing. It was not only worrying, but also depressing not being able to be by his side. Hours had already passed since she left the room, the orange rays of the evening sun had already began to show.

She sighed in boredom, "What the hell were they even doing in there?"
