4 Meeting the Prince

"It's all your fault..."

"You were the reason..."

"Could have saved us..."

Cheng Ye twised and turned as the voices echoed endlessly within his head. Deathly pale faces began to appear around him, of course he recognised each and every one. They were the fallen soldiers he had personally watched die on the screen, back at the industrial district.

The pale, bloodless hands reached out towards him and he backed away in fear, however just as they were about to make contact, thousands of green, soothing, silk-like strands wrapped, encased and drew away the hands.

Cheng Ye sat up in shock, noting his completely soaked back. Instantly, military experience kicked into place as he scanned every inch of the room. Ceramic flower vase, french windows, wheeled stand with what seemed a breakfast upon it . . . a beautiful, no, angelic teenage girl.

Cheng Ye had been trained to memorise and compute the importance of each and every object he saw, and yet this young girl who caught his eye was screaming importance, impressively so. Pure eyes, complemented by a curious gaze stared back towards him. She revealed a bright smile before asking, "How are you feeling?"

Cheng Ye was by no means a paedophile, nor a lolicon, yet this young girl was truly too enchanting to resist staring at. Born in a harsh society, Cheng Ye quickly snapped back into his normal state before answering calmly, "I'm alright now, can I know where I am?"

The girl opened her mouth to answer before being shortly interrupted by a squadron of guards at the entrance, "Miss Nana, has he awakened yet? The Prince would like to see him."

Energetically, she leapt to the entrance and welcomed what seemed like low grade soldiers, "He says he's fine now, do you want to take him?"

Cheng Ye watched the proceedings as he contemplated his next course of action. It was extremely likely that he was being taken for questioning, he could run of course, but the fact the he knew nothing about where he was prevented him from running, he could try to negotiate with the soldiers, and possibly find loopholes he could exploit, such as the power of the GreyFort empire.

He line of thought was interrupted by a rough voice, "How are you doing now? Well, after Miss Nana healed you, you must be fit as a flea!" He paused for a second before continuing, "Prince Roland wants to meet you, it's quite rare that the Prince wishes to meet injured people so you should count yourself lucky."

Urged by the soldiers, Cheng Ye slipped on some semi-formal clothing before striding out of the tent, not forgetting to thank and wave goodbye to the little angel. As they walked, he noticed the peculiar rifles on each of the soldier's backs.

"Weak, inefficient, excessive parts..."

Cheng Ye muttered a string of issues with the weapon with a low voice. There was so much to say about these weapons that if Cheng Ye ever tried to list it out, it would go way past a standard English essay!

Curiosity was what killed the cat, however Cheng Ye did not care right now, "Excuse me, what part of the world are we currently in?"

The soldiers turned towards him with a confused look, "The Western side I guess?"

'Outrageous, how could there even exist a country in the western side that still had such undeveloped weapons? If it were an Eastern country, I would still understand, those poorer countries don't even have enough to feed their people, yet a western one?'

Although he still looked calm on the exterior, Cheng Ye was conflicting with himself internally, he simply had never heard of a western country with a city named Neverwinter, nor had he known there would still exist such inefficient weapons in the western side of Earth.

Knowing that there would be no way to escape, Cheng Ye followed the guards into the 'palace'. It was the residence of a royal member, so it should be named a 'palace' and yet it seemed more like an ancient stronghold than a palace. There was even a goddamn wall surrounding it!

Cheng Ye calmed himself down as he passed through the gateway, maybe this Prince had a liking for medieval styled life? It was truly a plausible explanation, the entire city was changed to a medieval theme, however they were unable to ditch the modern necessities such as light bulbs and sewerage systems, hence creating a seemingly lack lustre but historical city!

His suspicions were confirmed as they passed a witch tower looking structure on the way to the guest lounge. Structures such as these were impractical and had little use in modern society, so this one must've been built for decorative purposes.

Cheng Ye shook his head in disappointment, 'What did people even spend national revenue on these days?'

The guest room was surprisingly comfortable, comfy cushion and comfy sofas lined the walls, beige coloured marble stretched artistically across the floor, creating a captivating mirror of the entire room, upright guards in black stood still by the entrances, each equipped with medium powered assault rifles. It was by no means modern, and by no means luxurious, however it had its own charm, the charm of history.

A middle to late aged man entered the room and strode up the Cheng Ye, "The injured one in the city I assume? The Prince would like to see you now."

A formal suit and silky pants, topped off by a magnificent demeanour made up the man. Cheng Ye followed him through the hallways and before long, a large door stood proudly in front of the two. The man cleared his throat before tapping lightly on the door and entering, "Your Highness, I have brought the man from the city."

"Thank you Barov, you can go back to your financing now."

Barov bowed lightly before exiting the room and shutting the doors.

Cheng Ye scouted the room quickly with his eyes, but there was nothing notable. A shelf of books, solid oak table, stack of parchments, a cosy, but seemingly deformed couch. As the room of a member of a royal family, it was truly basic.

"Sit down, I wish to have a talk."
