10 Meeting an Old Friend

"Demon Lord, I have the report of statistics you were seeking."

A large, looming figure handed an A4 sized report to the sitting man upon the stone throne. Jun Sha stood up from the throne, reaching out to grab the files before sitting back down and flipping quickly through them. Surprisingly, the report was not written, but imprinted upon the yellowed pages.

[ Population ]

624,412 (+1,748,295)

Although the numbers seemed large, Jun Sha was still disappointed at the lack of units at his disposal. Jun Sha looked at the report curiously, "What does the plus sign mean?"

The demon opened his maw before a booming, yet subservient voice echoed within his mind, "That is the growth rate of our population each year."

If Jun Sha had water in his mouth, he would have spat it out furiously at the moment, 'What the hell, a 280% reproduction rate? How is that even possible!'

One must know that humans would general have a populace growth rate fluctuating around 1%, and yet these demons had gone ahead to multiply this number by hundreds of fold. Jun Sha calmed the excitement in his heart. His biggest strength was not hand speed, nor his ability to communicate effectively, instead, his power came from his strategical thinking. With so many expendable troops, each wielding amazing power, his mind was already constructing thousands of plans that he could implement using these demons.

Jun Sha continued to scan through the report before setting it aside and ordering the kneeling demon, "Separate the report into sub categories and file them. I also wish for daily updates on these statistics and also demographics on our population based on military experience and type."

Once again, the voice resounded within his mind, "Demon Lord, there is no need for that. The last Demon Lord left an object alongside a message which should help you with these tasks."

The demon clawed through the air, ripping apart the space, before pulling out a cubical, glowing box and a parchment. The two items floated over towards Jun Sha and he reached out to grab them. The moment his fingers were about to touch the two objects, a blinding light flashed before him and his consciousness sunk into darkness.

Large, demonic eyes appeared uncomfortably close to Jun Sha's face. They blinked twice before muttering, "You're the weirdest shaped demon I've ever seen, almost exactly like a human."

Jun Sha, although nervous from the sudden confrontation, chuckled awkwardly before responding, "Since you've already brought up the topic, I'm not a demon, I'm a human."

The demon widened his eyes, "A human? How could you be here?"

Jun Sha shrugged, "I don't know how I got here either. For all I know, I could've been put into SAO as a prank while I was asleep."

The demon blinked twice before questioning in a hasty tone, "What do you mean by SAO? Do you, by any chance Sword Art Offline? The infamous anime that had acquired one of the largest fan base and hater base of all time?"

Jun Sha stared in surprise, "How could you know of it? Did you read my memories? The only other way you could know is..."

Jun Sha stepped back quickly with a shocked expression, "You're human?"

"Hahaha, it's been too long since I've met someone from my own world! What year are you from?" The demon smiled gleefully..

Jun Sha collected his emotions, "I'm from the year 2019. And you?"

"How coincidental! I too am from the year 2019. What's your name, are you famous?"

Jun Sha waved his hands in a gesture of dismissal, "I'm really not much of a famous person. My name is Jun Sha and I'm a streamer for FUBG."

If the demon had something to drop, it would have fallen now, "Jun Sha... Jun Sha! You don't mean that Jun Sha? The one who dominated the pro scene without fail, the one who easily decimates his fans in ridiculous custom games on stream, the only one I revere in the entire world of gaming?"

"Oh! You know me? Can I have your name?" Jun Sha's eyes shone with excitement.

"Hehe, my name is Li Hui. I've fought against you before."

Jun Sha almost spat out a litre of blood while thinking, 'Isn't this blood vomiting thing a novel convention? Since when did people really feel the need to spit blood?'

Li Hui, the only man that had capabilities to even try to rival Jun Sha in the entire FUBG player base. Li Hui had made a name for himself several months before Jun Sha's appearance in the pro scene. Just like Jun Sha, Li Hui dominated every single enemy he faced within minutes of initiating a battle, however upon meeting Jun Sha for the first time, his entire legacy was smashed to pieces. Just like he had done to his opponents, Jun Sha smashed him within minutes and not only that, Jun Sha was facing 3 people alone at the time.

Li Hui's pro team suffered a decline in fans as most of the players transitioned over to worshipping Jun Sha's intense APM and decision making skills, however he held no resentment over Jun Sha. Instead Li Hui had begun to worship Jun Sha's ability as well, striving to become just as strong so that he could fight on even grounds someday in the future.

At the same time Jun Sha had gotten his contract forcefully terminated, Li Hui also lost motivation for the pro scene, eventually losing his position in the team as well.

And somehow he had ended up in this retarded place within a goddamn cube being served by demons who were trying to destroy humanity!

Jun Sha quickly followed up after suppressing the need to vomit blood, "So what are you doing here? The demons told me that this cube and parchment were left behind by the previous demon lord."

Li Hui recovered from his thoughts quickly before answering, "Ahh yes, I was quite confused as well. However, after many weeks of investigation inside this cube, I have managed to find out its nature. The cube is a system that monitors the entire demon populace and apparently gives rewards and such when we complete certain missions."

Jun Sha stared into the darkness, tears were leaking out of his eyes, "What the hell is this? Have I been put into a goddamn system novel?"
