13 Chapter 13: Chikage

As he saw the black cat walking towards him, Jiang Ming couldn't help but frown. He tightened his grip on the bronze sword and was ready to fight.

The black cat took a few steps forward and then jumped with both its hind legs as it dashed towards Jiang Ming's direction. Both its sharp paws were flashing with a cold glint as they went towards Jiang Ming.

Jiang Ming was shocked and immediately blocked the attack with his bronze sword.

"Dingding~"

The sound of the sword colliding with the cat's paw rang through the mine. As the cat's attack became even faster, Jiang Ming felt a little pressured and was stunned at the same time.

He couldn't understand how a level 7 monster could have such speed and attack. Not only that, this cat had skills and strategy. It knew how to attack Jiang Ming from different angles and was a very smart cat indeed.

When he noticed his HP dropping, he started taking the rejuvenation potions and was thinking about how to defeat the black cat.

Just as he was still thinking of a way out, the black cat jumped. Its figure immediately split into three and was heading towards him from three different directions.

"What the…. Is this cloning?"

When Jiang Ming saw the scene right before him, he was shocked and looked at it in disbelief. He couldn't figure out which was the shadow and could only guess.

Just when he stepped forward with his bronze sword, he felt a chilly feeling around his neck, and his body immediately stopped moving. He was rooted to the ground and didn't dare move. It was because the black cat had already jumped onto his shoulder when he wasn't aware, with its sharp claws pressed against his neck.

Jiang Ming didn't think that he could be defeated by a level 7 black cat monster. He had previously killed a prime level 7 bullfrog but it wasn't as powerful. However, he was still defeated but a monster of the same level.

Just as Jiang Ming was still stunned, he remembered that he didn't look through the cat's attributes. Then. He immediately used the investigation technique on the black cat.

After looking through the black cat's attributes, Jiang Ming stared at it with wide eyes, then looked at the black cat sitting on his shoulders.

"These…. These aren't even the attributes of a monster! These are a player's attributes. But it's just a cat, just a monster. Why does it have a name and a profession?" Jiang Ming muttered to himself.

But the scene that happened next was even more shocking!

"You lost!" At the same time, the black cat called Chikage jumped off his shoulder and said to him while licking its paws.

The cat has a name! The cat has a profession! The cat can talk! 

When Chikage heard Jiang Ming's questions, he stopped licking its paw and asked, "Monster? Those stupid monsters?"

When Jiang Ming nodded his head, Chikage continued as it shook its head. "No, I'm not a monster. I came into the game with a terminal as well."

"That's impossible! How can an animal enter into the game?!" A thought suddenly appeared in his head and Jiang Ming quickly continued asking, "Is it possible that you are actually a human but when you entered into the game, something happened to the system and you became a cat?"

Chikage shook his head. "NO! I am an actual cat!"

"That's impossible. Why would a cat have a name? How can a cat talk?! Quit bullshitting with me!" Jiang Ming said in disbelief.

"Miao~ It is the truth whether you believe it or not. Plus, the reason why I'm here is actually all because of you, master." Chikage stared as Jiang Ming.

"Master? Me?" Jiang Ming pointed at himself in surprise.

"Hmmm." Chikage continued. "Do you remember what happened on your way home?"

"The plane explosion?" Jiang Ming asked as he wasn't sure what it was referring to.

"Yup," Chikage replied. "At that time, I was chasing after a rat, and just when I was about to eat it, I heard a sudden explosion. I was so frightened that I didn't even move. Then, I fainted after being pricked by a needle. When I woke up, I had thoughts of my own. I have the consciousness of a man. In other words, I might just be a little smarter than an ordinary human now. I really think that it is because of that needle."

"Needle?" Then, Jiang Ming recalled that when the plane exploded, he was also pricked by the needle on his back. However, he didn't pay much attention to it and threw it away. He would have never expected that it landed on Chikage.

"But why am I still the same even after being pricked by the needle when you've changed this much? You can talk and you even have superpowers!" Jiang Ming asked out of curiosity.

"Maybe it's because I have a smaller body and the drug works faster on me," Chikage replied after thinking about it for a short while.

"Even if the drugs work slower for me, do you really think that medicines like these exist?" Jiang Ming was still in shock.

Although it was true that the technology and medical field were so advanced that they could even cure some types of cancer. However, it was impossible that they had managed to come up with something so powerful that it could allow animals to think and talk. If something like this did exist, the world would definitely be in chaos.

Jiang Ming continued thinking about it. If animals became smarter than humans, then this world would be ruled over by animals in the future. This would mean that humans would become extinct. Even if someone managed to come up with something so powerful, why would they use it if it would lead to human extinction?

"Of course, I'm a very good example that it works," Chikage replied firmly.

Chikage's reply made Jiang Ming speechless. He really couldn't think of anyone so sick to come up with such drugs.

Since he couldn't come to a solution, he decided to just forget about it. If he was supposed to know about it, he would once the time came. But for now, he had a more important question. "Fine. Even if you have been injected with the drug, why are you calling me your master?"

This was something that he really couldn't understand. Even if both Chikage and he got injected with the drug, there was still no reason for it to call Jiang Ming his master.

"That's because your blood was in the needle as well. In other words, the drug injected into me consists of your blood too. As it entered into my body and got combined, something like a bond was formed between the two of us."

Jiang Ming nodded his head as he tried to process the information. This was just like when you adopt a pet in the game, you have to bind to it with your blood. He had unknowingly bonded with Chikage and so now they were bonded mentally and physically. This was also why even when he already changed his appearance, Chikage could still recognize him. This was the telepathic sense between a pet and its owner.

As for why he didn't recognize Chikage, it should be because the drug in him hadn't started working yet. 

"Okay, I guess I have a rough idea about what is happening now, but there's still one thing that I want to know." Jiang Ming was slowly digesting the situation and continued asking, "How would you know how to use the terminal and where did you get it from?"
