4 Chapter 3

I hope Paul didn't take that one little cheek kiss the wrong way.

For now, all we are is friends bound by a promise made decades ago.

I don't even really know this love sick prince is.

We've known each other for less than three months and he's acting like we've been next door neighbors since we were kids.

In the palace there's no phone signal or wifi, so letters are the only way of contacting with family and friends.

I curled up together in the thick pink and good silk bed spread.

I bet paul has a spectacular room, but I won't complain with the one that I got.

Two of my bedrooms back home made one of these.

My room was one of the most beautiful bedrooms a girl could wish for.

My bed was king sized and great for just channeling that inner kid and jumping on the bed.

The bed was a canopy bed, the canopy was silk with golden tassels.

The walls were all white with a carved white railing going around the room.

A giant mirror hung on the wall in a frame made of what I believe is real gold.

It looks like a dream but feels like some crazy nightmare that isn't that bad but isn't that pleasant.

That's when I remembered the last words that I heard from a friend.

The cold words of my best friend before I left to become a princess.

It was twenty degrees at the airport and I had been holding back tears as my family walked out of the airport.

My aunt herded her two little girls, Hope and lyric down the airport waiting area.

That's when my best friend since a young child stalked past my auntie and my cousins, she was so fast that they didn't notice that is was Amber.

Her blonde hair had blue streaks in it. The hood of her wind breaker was covered in chunks of fallen snow.

She was tall and skinny with a great personality.

We've been best friends since we were six, playing on her mini playground in her backyard with her puppy Alaskan malamute.

"Hi Amber!" ,I called out to her waving wildly.

Amber flashed a cold hard gaze at me.

She stoped right in front of me, we stood face to face.

In her green eyes was anger, her cheeks were red as if something had happened.

"Hey, what's wrong Amber?", I asked gently.

"This is what is wrong, you turn your back on your family and friends so you can marry some prince fake and forget about who you are!", Amber snarled at me, he face barely a inch from mine.

"What are you talking about, do you think this is a joyous thing for me, I have no idea what the prince even looks like or who he is at that!", I replyed sharply.

"Lace, you chose the path that you want and it seems like this is what you want because if you didn't want it you would have spoke up for yourself, do something your dead parents can't do for you."

Anger blazed within my belly and my chest when she insalted my parents that I hadn't got to know.

"My dead parents!", I hissed angryly at her bringing my face close to hers, wanted to slap that smug look off her face, " It isn't my fault you were born with a golden spoon in your mouth and the chance to own your own destiny, but you are such a coward."

"I guess the prince was so desperate that he would marry anything that was a girl and human."

The anger made me feel so weak and bad that I turned around and walked away as the want to fight was so powerful that I had to pretend not to hear the taunts of my own close friend.

That's when I decided that I wouldn't make any best friends here, I would do as my destiny had layed out for me...marry the prince.
