Chapter 3

"Ahhhhhhhh!" The last sound she heard, Atem scream. As Anzu awake from her nightmare of the last weeks events. Painting in her sleep, she arose from her slumber. Slowly walking over towards a cleaning sink, she washes her face. She then raises her head, looking up at herself and shakes her head. Speaking within her timing thoughts she settles.

"I, I cannot believe I've gotten rid of the pharaoh. That was more vivid than I anticipated." she says with uncertainty.

" I cannot, stop thinking about him, however, it's only hurting me to dwell on the repercussions."

She speaks to herself in her mind as the door knocks. She then quickly turns around as she gets frighten, as the cup spills out and she makes a sound.

"Shit!" she exclaimed

" I'm coming, just give me a goddamn minute! "

she then throws the cup into the trash, a cup that which Atem had given her. Yet seemed worthless along with broken now. She without hesitation through the cup in the pit as she then walked towards the door chamber. She then is surprised to see the awake of a priest.

She with her eyes widen for a moment, then looks away for a few.

"Oh, um, I didn't realize you were awake. " Anzu spoke.

The priest didn't say anything yet but then speaks suddenly.

"Forgive me my lady, I didn't mean to intrude. I was just wondering how you're holding up" he spoke with such a mild tone.

"I am fine, doing quite well actually. It's just very sad I have no one to cuddle with, now." she proclaims.

The priest then rises down his gown like hood and stares at her with only but a inch. "Yes, quite indeed. Well, I don't plan on allowing this to be the end of my king, and you're husband. I will find him to the very last of my breath!" he yells but keeps it amongst them. He turns to walk away slowly as Anzu speaks out.

"I can assure you, Mahad that is very unnecessary, you do not have to search for my husband. It's been over a week now, I..... I don't think he will come back. You know, as much as I would want him too." she says very blankly.

Mahad, uneasy with her choice of words and uncomfortable meanings, speaks. "I can assure you my lady, that it is, very necessary. I won't rest for it, so do not worry, I promise I will find out who did this. When I do, they will die upon a thousands sins." he says angrily as he then walks off as she watches him. Slowly she then closes her chambers and puts her hands on the door and speaks to herself in her mind. "Ugh!" like a dagger to the Rose, she makes a scuffle face expression as the moment she has wanted, might be only briefly.

" Upon the dawn, a new era is born, yes? " a soldier exclaims. " Not if that era comes crashing down like the ones before. We cannot sit around while God Anubis becomes greater." another proclaims. " Nor Shall we!" a man speaks, as the solider stand up and attention themselves towards him. He walks with confidence and speaks aloud. "We aren't going to wait around, while we can possible lose the biggest opportunity, thus I don't plan on allowing the pharaoh to die in vain." he speaks as he balls his fist, gripping the millennium rod.

"What makes you think he's dead already, Seto? We do not know that." a woman approaches as Priest Seto turns around and the soldiers take a knee down and stand there.

Another high priest approaches wearing the millennium necklace around her, with a priest attire, and a cape like hooded attire as well. Seto grunts as she approaches his face and she then looks at her and speaks intensely "Well! It's been over nearly weeks now! If we were going to find him don't you think we would've by now. I've searched every perimeter, even the darkness caves and cabins. We haven't even had a single thread to go by.

As he speaks he pastes around and she then touches her necklace and closes her eyes speaking. " I know that with my powers, I know I feel the pharaohs energy. It's faint, but still there. I feel a sense, a sense of belief and a majestic sensation. He is there and I cannot shake that feeling. " she expressions as she opens her eyes again and glances at Seto who watched her. " Well you're thing must be broken, because I don't feel anything with my rod, a last, I hope you're right then for these chambers and walls sakes. " Seto said.

She nods as they carry on their based conversation. Inside Mahad's quarters he watches his magician train her way. He then crosses his arms and starts to puzzle with himself as she gets concerned. " Is everything alright?" she asks. "No, No Mana unfortunately, it's not. " he says as he looks down sadly. She then makes a face and worries more as she then speaks slowly "is it the pharaoh? I know you're very, worried and we've been searching. We will continue to search for him." she says happily trying to ease him. He, then makes only a sigh noise motioning for it not working as he then starts to have flashbacks.

A flash, remembering yet again the time Atem had helped him. The friendship and bond they shared. How even now, Mahad could not give up on him. He was concerned and worried, not because of his king. It was because he didn't want to lose a friend. He remembers the snake bite, a hard and harsh bite. While Atem then sucks out the poison from his arm. The sweet gently lips of Atem pressing against his skin. Reminded him of how gently Atem is to his people. Loving them, giving them kindness, he couldn't think of a better king. Someone who could do such a horrible crime, which only made Mahad more vivid and upsetting.

He remembers Atem smiling as Mahad and him speak to one another. How calm those childhood days where, how easy it was for them to have peace and harmony. Those days, where long ago, yet it could be possible to have those again.

The flashback then stops as he then turns to Mana. "Mana" he says. "I have confidence that he is still alive as well. " he balls up his fist and then crosses his arms yet again speaking with her. "If I have to I'll search on my own. I cannot rest until my pharaoh is back where he belongs. This uneasy feeling I've gotten from the Queen. She seems like she knows more than she's letting on. She doesn't seem at all concerned for the pharaoh. Speaking as though he's already past, what could that all be a meaning of,  I can only ponder." Mana looks at her master as she then makes him assured.

"She possibly can, Master,  however we shall need more than just our words. We will need to see for ourselves. However, we cannot just walk right up and say where's our king!" she speaks aloud.

"Shhh! Mana" Mahad claims.

"Don't let the others hear you. Let's keep this conversation between us for now. I don't know if others are working as hard as we are to find him. However I will continue to send out search parties looming around the quarters."

She nods to him and they both walk out Mahad's quarters together. The night rolls on, as where back down inside the pit of chambers, where Atem had collapsed, it is a dark sensation an uneasy feeling. It gets colder and even darker as you fall down inside. Like shadows falling you. It makes you feel like the last breath was that when you were falling. Only the sounds of an ancient king, the old king can be heard now.

"Here! Here lies you're new king, you're new pharaoh, bow down and glorify this momentous moment! Here is you're king! The pharaoh, PHARAOH..... ATEM! atem, atem, atem"

The name echo's through the dark pit cavern as it zooms in on a man laying. Bleeding at the mouth and arms, with scratches and pain. He coughs from the dust, and grunts from the pain as he slowly sits up. Holding his stomach he closes one eye to show the endure he suffered. He then closes both of his eyes yet again and starts to remember how the fall felt.

Slowly he rises to his feet, as his cape has been torn off from the fall. He only in his Pharaoh clothes makes his way around the pit. Slowly, hopping it seems grabbing the wall to get his black bearings. Coughing some more, he then sees a beaming light. Mostly like a light that glows from the distance his eyes widen and mouth drops as it continues.

"Shhhh, shhhhh its quite alright. There, there now. Don't worry you're father is here. You don't need to fuse, I will protect you my boy. From any and all harm. You shall forever rule this land, more better than I. Until we meet again, dear Atem, inside your dreams. Wait for the moment to allow me to guide you. Guide you to greatness, and victory. I promise that I shall forever be with you my dear boy, always."

As the flashback ends, Atem covers his eyes and then stands holding his ribs "wh.... Who's there.... " he says faintly as the sounds of echo's only respond. He continues to walk slowly as the light continues to beam for him and he follows it. It seems it's moving away, or slowly allowing him to escape. It could be an Egyptian spirit, someone's soul unrested. Soon then the light takes him to a shallow pathway, as Atem walks slowly as he starts to recover slowly. He follows the light as it is an area, that Atem looks to relate too. He then has another flashback.

"Please the great God's above, please spare my son. Allow me to endure the pain and punishment of this plague. Do not kill my son Atem, allow him to be king, so that the lands can be at peace. I know he can be just a child, but he will soon become a man. A man, that shall make sure his servants and people are well treated. He will make sure that Egypt will never fall to the dark God Anubis! Please allow me to sacrifice myself! For my son!"

The flash ends and Atem speaks as he is startled "Could this be" he proclaimed "I remember.... I remember this place, it's where I was but a child. However, my... My father he... " The light shines even brighter blinding Atem as he grunts from the light. As it seems as though; now Atem is inside a white dream, a dream where he floats and sees brightness. The light speaks with a vivid, yet deep tone. It almost sounds like his father. "Atem! Listen to me. Listen carefully, you cannot die here. You must move on, protect you're people. You cannot allow Phineas, Anzu and the Great God Anubis to win.

You must continue to press on for the people of Egypt. Atem dazzled in amazement watches this light as it moves Atems hair like wind breezes. He then speaks "Tell me! Tell me how I am to stop this! " he demands. "My son, you have known this whole time. You cannot allow yourself to be deciphered. You have to continue to bring the people hope, hope that their king shall be their savior. I have faith in you, I always have. I may not be inside the realm, but I am always in your heart. Use what powers you know from that of the millennium puzzle.

"I, I don't understand! Please! Assist me. I need more information, the millennium puzzle, what powers could it hold besides....." just then Atems makes gasp as he speaks

"Of course, the Egyptian Gods!" he then stands there puzzled and astonished by this information.

As the light then starts to fly away and Atem walks with it. "W.... Wait!" he yells as he runs after it. Leading down another path that is brighter than before as the light, shines bright, almost like the sun. Beaming down upon him, he makes his way out of the cave. Breathing slowly as his head is down.

He exists the cave and looks around at a location. A location that is unfamiliar, somewhere he gotten, wasn't close to his kingdom. He then looks ahead at a lake, a crystal blue lake. Calming and very settle as it makes no movements, the wind whips past his face moving his hair slightly. He then looks up at the sky as he stands confidently, fist balled up. "Father... Was... Was that really you" he speaks to himself as he feels himself getting stronger, more vigorous this time.

He looks around as he then hears horse noises in the distance. He then narrows his eyes as he starts to walk to the noises he hears. Almost like children, only smaller children, playing? He thought. He could only imagine what it was, yet could only continue to walk towards it. Around the lake he moved slowly almost like dragging his feet, feeling exhausted from the heat. He then starts speaking softly trying to get their attention.

Feeling himself almost collapse he then continues. "p.... Ple... Please.... S... Someone.... Help... Help me... " he then collapses in the sand as the children turn to gasp and see. "it's.... It's the pharaoh!" a girl exclaimed as she speaks Egyptian to call her great grandmother over. The children the circle around him, for their lost pharaoh from the beyond had been found.
