1 Prologue

Pitter... patter... pitter... patter. Gray clouds covered the sky, creating a gloomy atmosphere although the day had barely begun.

The hustle and bustle of students could be heard as they rushed indoors to seek shelter from the rain and talked in the halls. In the classroom, gossip was spreading.

"Hey, hey, did you hear about the transfer student?"

"Yeah, at this time of the year it's got to be kind of rough. Winter break is just around the corner. They wouldn't get to meet anyone."

Some students seemed to be concerned for them. On the otherhand...

"Yo! You guys think it'll be a girl? I hope so!"

"Yeah same! You think we can set up a welcome party mixer over the break?"

"Nice idea. Even if its a guy we still have a chance if the girls come."

The trio rowdy boys were talking loudly with ulterior motives, earning eyes of disgust from both guys and girls alike, but they were too caught up in their scheming to notice.

Away from the bustle one boy sat alone at the back of the room by the window. Giving off a "don't talk to me" aura, he rested his chin on hand and looked out the window at the gray sky. "How dull," he muttered.

"C'mon Hui, don't be like that! A transfer student at this time of the year is pretty exciting. What so dull about that?"

"I didn't mea- never mind I just don't really care enough about it to care at all. I'd rather stay away from gossip and attention."

"There you go again with the 'I don't care about anything' vibe. It wouldn't hurt to show a little more interest in these things."

"It's not like a transfer student's going to change my life or anything. I'm satisfied enough being able to look at the window."

"Jeez, talk about no ambition. No sports, no clubs, no girlfriend, and top of the grade. That's the fast track to living a lonely life if I've ever seen it. That reminds me I didn't do math homework yesterday, can I copy, man?"

"Tsk, whatever. Here's my assignment."

"Thanks bro! What a godsend."

"There's some time before class starts so I'm going to sleep. Wake me up before then, Min."

"Sure, sure. You do you."

Pitter... patter... pitter... patter. Gray clouds covered the sky. The hustle and bustle of students could be heard as they rushed indoors to seek shelter from the rain and talked in the halls. In the classroom, gossip was spreading, but none of it could prevent Hui's drowsiness. Taking one glance away from the sky, he saw students, the classroom, the world, all of it... gray. Letting his eyes gently fall shut, he looked back at the sky, the sounds fading away and the world disappearing.

All of it drowned out by the overwhelming color of gray.
