2 Chapter 2

Lara-Jean's POV

"Make sure to stay close to me," Covey whispered just before we walked in.

The music was blaring-there was yelling and the stench of alcohol everywhere. It was literally crammed with people, wearing little to no clothes. I blushed. Keeping up with Covey was difficult as the bodies crammed against me making it hard for me to breathe.

I suddenly felt a hand reach out and grab mine, instantly I relaxed. Hands intertwined, Covey dragged me through the swarm of people. We got to a room which was much quieter. Instantly, people began shouting Covey's name. She seemed really popular around here and I watched as she did some handshake with a tall guy with blonde hair.

"Who's your little friend?" the blond haired boy asked, licking his lips and scanning my body.

I suddenly felt self conscious in the little dress I was wearing and found myself moving closer toward Covey, who instantly responded, loosening her grip from my hand and wrapping it around my waist instead. Covey glared at him and he put his hands up in surrender, backing away.

More people came and introduced themselves to me, I waved and squeaked out my name in return. The night was going on in full swing. Covey has gone off to talk to some of her friends and I immediately felt like a nervous wreck all over again.

"Hey would you like a drink?" Some guy asked me. He held out a red cup, offering it to me.

I didn't think much of it as I took whatever alcoholic beverage and downed it. It burnt but I didn't really care. This was my first time drinking and I felt liberated. Away from the constant watchful gaze of my mother. I kept drinking, I began feeling dizzy and loopy at some point but I went on.

"Hey, you okay?" The blond guy from before asked me, I had learned his name was Michael.

"Just peachy actually." I grinned. I stood up and everywhere was spinning around me.

"Hey steady." Michael said, catching me and supporting me.

Everything was going so fast. He led me into a different room and the next thing I knew I was in Covey's arms again, I felt warm all over and I smiled up at her, locking my gaze with her green eyes which were etched with worry.

"You have the prettiest eyes ever, you know." I mumbled, still staring into Covey's eyes.

Her hands were on my waist and I was facing her now. I saw something glimmer in her eyes and she smiled.

"Oh, so you're drunk drunk."

She smirked at me and I began giggling. Suddenly I felt the world spinning at an alarming rate. Covey seemed to be carrying me and I was bent over a toilet seat puking my guts out whilst Covey held my braids and rubbed my back.

"Go away, Covey," I mumbled my head still over the toilet,"I don't want you to see me like this."

"Oh yeah?" Covey asked, I could hear the laughter etched in her voice,"and why is that?"

I puked some more before answering.

"You're so gorgeous... and cool."

Covey laughed behind me and I puked some more. I felt weak. Covey's arms wrapped around me and I let her warmth engulf me.

Covey's POV

Lara-Jean weighed next to nothing. That was all I could think about as I carried her from the car back into our dorm. She had passed out, it was clearly her first time drinking and I felt very guilty leaving her side for even a second.

Placing her on her bed I began taking off her shoes, I considered undressing her and putting her in pajamas but I thought otherwise.

"Sleep tight Princess." I whispered as I tucked her into bed.

"Covey?"

Lara-Jean's eyes were half-closed.

"Yeah?"

"Stay with me." Lara-Jean murmured, her arms gripping my wrist, she dragged me into the bed next to her and I let her. Her eyes shut again as she snuggled right into me.

I stared at her breathing softly beside me and remembered the first time I had seen her, sitting meekly in the corner, locking my eyes with her dark brown ones. The way her braids fell around her face and I loved how her dark skin glowed. She was the most gorgeous girl I had ever set eyes on. But she probably wasn't gay. So there was no chance in hell. There was a part of her I really wanted to get to explore: there was this part of her urging me to protect her but at the same time there was this sense of strength in her.

Shutting my eyes softly I drifted to sleep, snuggled up to Lara-Jean.

Lara-Jean's POV

Ouch. That was the first thought that came to my mind once I woke up. My splitting headache was bursting my head apart and I felt like I was going to pass out. Ouch.

"Hey there sleeping beauty."

I blushed, then groaned. Covey's voice seemed to come from a loudspeaker. I slowly opened my eyes and she was kneeling beside my bed with the usual amused look on her face.

"Here take these, they would make you feel better." Covey said, handing me a glass of water and some Advil.

I grabbed everything from her hand and gobbled them down, I could feel her intense stare on me. All of a sudden all the events from last night: from puking my guts out in front of Covey to sleeping in the same bed as her came flooding back to me and I almost choked on my water.

"Easy Princess." Covey said, patting me softly on my back, I rolled my eyes, it seemed she was back to this Princess thing.

"I need to shower." I mumbled getting up from my bed and walking around Covey.

"Can I join you?"

I paused. My back was to Covey which I was glad for because I couldn't face looking at her.

"To breakfast, I mean. Can I join you to breakfast after your shower?"

My heart started beating normally again, and I nodded quickly not trusting my voice before rushing into the bathroom. I had a cold shower. It helped with my headache. I was about to walk out when I realized something. I hadn't brought my change of clothes into the bathroom which meant that I had to go out into the room to get it. The room with Covey.

I shut my eyes and exhaled.

Taking a deep breath I wrapped my towel as tight as possible around me and stepped out into the room.

There was Covey, leaning against the desk at the opposite side of the room using her phone. She immediately dropped it when she caught sight of me standing at the other end of the room with water dripping around me. I had no idea what was going on but Covey took the few steps needed towards me. I took a few steps backwards and the towel fell to the ground, leaving my body on full display.

I stood there. Stark naked and wet. My eyes were fixed on Covey's which roamed my body. She took her time lingering over every inch of my body, taking her right index finger she trailed it down my arm. I immediately felt sparks erupting from where she touched.

"C-Covey..what are you doing." I stuttered, my voice was barely a whisper. The atmosphere was so tense.

"You're beautiful Lara-Jean." Covey said locking her eyes with mine,"every inch of you."

She pulled her hand away from me and looked at me in the eye.

"Hurry up and change. Meet me downstairs in the cafeteria." Her voice was husky.

I was shivering, but not because I was cold.
