1 Out Inside

I kept calm.

Mother was waiting beside me as she whispered cruel things into my ears.

"You will always be worse than them, you are disgusting, looks at your sisters, they are wealthier than you could every be!" She said maliciously into one ear.

All her words came out the other ear sadly.

Oh right... introductions.

My name is Emma Winston. The summon name for a girl born in England but raised in an Korean family. Sadly, I was adopted, you could say.

"I apolitically recall that we had this conversation earlier and it didn't lead anywhere stepmother" I whispered with a hint of impatience in my voice.

My mother, with her sky-night black pearl hair, and her deep brown eyes, looked at me with as much love as a mirror would have for me. It was like staring back at my reflection you could say. My mother hated me as much as I hated myself.

"You dare call me "stepmother" after everything I've done for you?" She said her gaze softening as her eyes welled up with tears.

Classical.

I saw some of my mother maids rushing towards her to wipe away her tears as I got up hastily from my chair in the living room quarters.

My stepmother and father lived in a big mansion, or building, I should say.

It was one of those glass towers you see in classic Korean dramas that towered above the city along its large stature.

As I went down the elevator after passing through one of the velvet red carpet ways, I stood outside in the streets now with a phone in hand calling my driver.

*ring*

*ring*

I waited silently.

The streets where always busy this time of day with bustling city-ways and cars going here and there.

You would usually find a subway here or there but those where usually crowded so I took the driver my father had personally given me on my birthday.

Right.... I am 18 if you are all wondering. Right, perfect, the age for marriage. Those are all the things my "mother" whispers into my head here and there.

My father respects me but I neither pay him much mind nor do I hate him.

"Miss, are you going to stand out there forever?" The driver said with an arched eyebrow.

I snapped back out of my train of thought.

"Sorry Link" I said scratching my curly hair at the back of my head.

Did I mention? I am a total genius who skipped years of college but can't find her way in the world thanks to her daydream episodes?

I got in the car and slammed the door shut.

Sitting down in the comfy leather seats in back I said to Link, "I just wanna go home if that's okay wit you."

Link nodded and pulled down the windows in front to let out the smoky hair that had resulted from whatever he had before I entered the car.

"Radio?" He said solemnly as if on auto.

"Of course!" I said with vigor.

There was one thing I could deny, my thirst for music.
