8 Chapter 8

I grabbed the old book and began to read it, after reading almost everything, I saw something that shocked me. 'A princess and the demon would get married which would cause catastrophe and between the two clans'. I sighed, why would the princess create havoc on her citizens by marrying a demon. The two clans had fought long time ago and the result was not good.

I closed the book, not wanting to read it anymore. The sky became dark, we had to protect the castle starting from this night. I quickly grabbed my long silver sword and went out of my room.

When I got outside, I saw Kyle and his men, they wore their armor and they sat on their horse. I sat on my horse also and stood in front of them where I would clearly see if my Uncle and his men were coming already.

They did not bother to protest or ask me to go into the castle. They had guessed that the king allowed me, that was the reason why I was there. We stood all night watching over the castle, Lord Nathan was right, Uncle wasn't coming this night, but we had to protect the castle in case my Uncle changed his mind.

So, that means Uncle would be coming at noon tommorow, I just hoped that everything would go accordingly, I don't want our plan to backfire on us even though we had a demon on our side.

I can't even get over the fact that father would kill his brother. But he had to kill him since Uncle had decided to wage a war against his own kingdom. We would either Kill Uncle or get killed, the worst scenerio could be that we become slaves of my Uncle which is not good. Even death would be preferable than serving my Uncle that would give us nothing but endless torture.

I don't know the reason Uncle want to get his revenge from father, normally once the king dies the princes would fight each other to get the throne. It was a fair fight and my father got the throne, since he did not want to kill his brother, he exiled him. He even went as far to look for him so that Uncle would live a good life.

My uncle doesn't want to see the good that his brother has done for him, he should at least be thankful that my father had spared his life. Uncle had done a lot of misdeeds which we heard of, that was how he got his position as king. I guess the main reason he became king was that he wanted to get his revenge to rebel against us. To make us suffer.

We stood all night watching over the castle but Uncle never came, maybe he was thinking that if he didn't come, we would let our guard down and doubt if there is a war or not.

Unfortunately for him, we are prepared for what ever he was bringing.

I could see the sun rising from the east, the day was bright again but we did not leave our position, we did not even sleep.

"Your highness, won't you take a rest?, you can come back later, we would still be watching" Kyle said. I was actually feeling sleepy and hungry, so I decided to eat a little and also take a short nap.

I looked at Kyle's men, they showed no hint of tiredness. Were they not hungry?. They nodded at me to go and they would still be watching so I left. I rode my horse back to the castle, I quickly went to bath and eat. My eyelids felt heavy so I closed them and fell into a deep slumber.

I tried as much as to wake up quickly but I couldn't, I kept rolling on the bed, after some minutes I sat up. I looked outside gazing at the sky, I detected that it would soon be noon.

I climbed on the horse and went to join Kyle and his men. My father had told the everyone not to come out once it was noon, so every where was scanty. We locked the big gate already as we waited for my Uncle.

I could see them coming on their horse, they were just so much. Father signalled the archers to start their work from all the corners of the castle. We sent many arrows to them, we did not even give them the chance to reach here before we started attacking them.

We sent series of bomb towards them and I could see that most of them were falling down. I could see my Uncle clearly now, he asked them to halt. Why did they stop?, maybe he wanted to talk to my father and I guessed right.

"Hope you are happy to see me again brother, did you see my letter?" he asked.

"I did not bother to read it" My father said.

"Oh Yia, you are still as clever as before, you don't need to read it to know what is happening already, right?" he said.

My father laughed. "Yue, I don't know the reason why you want to rebel against me, is it for your revenge or you wanted something else?" my father asked.

"You can't blame me for that, you did what you thought was right then, now I am doing what is right. I am just following your footsteps brother, don't you think?" He asked as he let out that his menancing laugh.

"Enough with the tit tat, what do you want exactly?" my father asked.

"I am not here for bargaining, I get what I want!!" He yelled and signalled at his men. Uncle sent bombs towards us but we were fast enough to move away as it hit our Iron gate breaking the chains and the it flung open.

"Attack" Father yelled as he rode away, I could tell that he wanted to deal with Uncle himself. The archers started releasing many arrows and bombs were exchanged between our side and my uncle's side, then we started fighting. Uncle's men were very much and strong so it was not easy to take them down.

Uncle signalled his men to bomb our achers and now I couldn't see any more arrows coming from above as I was too busy fighting. They slinged big stones into our bombs and therefore we could not send bombs again.
