The New Minister of Magic Pt. 1

Past midnight, eyes closed but the mind still running faster than the pulses. Rolan fell from his bed with his eyes shut. His inner desire to go on further increased, but he stopped on the way, meeting his death. The next time when he opened his eyes was nearly morning.

This time he's to inform Ruby. How can this happen? As he thought, he was lying on the dusty floor. He woke up and gave Doggy, Ruby's pet dog, a few nuts to eat. He wanted to remind Mr. Stevens about his so called job matter, but he dramatized as if he had forgotten about his job and went on to the bathroom.

"This is impossible; it's three months that I am without a job," thought Rolan. "The work that I am left out with, is to just dreaming about jobs and get haunted by my own dreams."

"Do you want a job?" a voice came from nowhere.

"Yes, but who will give this baboon a job?" questioned Rolan, but later he realized that there was no one there except him.

Suddenly there was a pop, and a rabbit came from nowhere and transformed into a strange stout person.

"What... Who are you? Who has sent you?" shouted angry Rolan. "And what are you doing in the bathroom? Get out! I said get out!"

"Do you think you are a baboon?" asked the strange man. "Is this the greater one? I must have come to the wrong place."

"Yeah... A very wrong place," Rolan thought inside his head. "This must be one of Richards's crazy jokes."

"What's your name?" asked the strange man, cleaning his glasses.

"My... My name is Rolan..." answered confused Rolan.

"Sir, what is your full name?" asked the strange man (this time with more curiosity).

"Hmm... Rolan... Rolan Stevens," said Rolan.

"Yahoo, that means I'm right, you're perfectly not Rolan... Rolan! Alright! ROLAN LAUREN BROWN- the master!" exclaimed the strange man.

"I am a master? How stupid? Though it's daft, it's realistic... Rolan Brown... A perfect surname, it suits me," thought Rolan.

"But you are not Rolan Brown, are you?" questioned the strange man at once.

"I wish if I were..." replied Rolan (then he felt ashamed for saying so).

"Now leave, or else Mr. Stevens will be angry at me; be quick!" Rolan asked the man to leave. He was still thinking that Richards was making fun of him (maybe this is any new toy).

"Hmm... Who's Mr. Stevens, your father?" asked the convinced strange man.

"No, not at all; he's Ruby and Richards' father," replied Rolan, but later he realized that he was told not to tell this to anyone. It's a secret.

"Then who is your father?" questioned the strange man with such a sudden expression that for a moment Rolan got puzzled.

"Alright, he's like my father..." replied Rolan with weariness to show the strange man that it didn't matter at all. He wanted to hide the secret, but he wanted to tell the secret to someone for a very long time, so he revealed the secret to the strange man (still thinking it is some weird toy).

"Like your father?" interrogated the strange man.

"Alright, this means he adopted me as his son many years before when I was likely an orphan," answered Rolan with great hesitation.

"What do you mean by saying 'likely an orphan'?" asked the man at once.

"Hmm... I am an orphan, but actually, I'm not," said Rolan more confidently than before "The orphanage people told me once that somebody left me out there, probably my mother".

"But what's this to you? Now leave or else I will not get my job..." Rolan asked the strange man to leave (this time he said forcefully).

"Oh! It's such a shame not getting a job!" remembered Rolan that he hasn't got a job till now.

"But you're so young..." said the strange man.

"For you and the world, it's a small age; but for me, it's the real freedom to earn on your own, to earn for me, only me..." lectured Rolan.

"Sir, may I ask you, what's your age?" asked the interested strange man.

"I'm fifteen..." replied shy Rolan.

"Hmm... This is the reason why you don't get jobs," advised the strange man.

"It's not that easy... There are so many reasons, such as my educational qualification, my family background, and at last but not the least my 'Peculiar' and 'Odd' enough to throw out of the job behavior," added Rolan.

"Peculiar behavior?" questioned the man at once.

"Yes, this is the reason for all my problems," answered Rolan.

"What type of problems?" asked the strange man to Rolan. He asked in such a manner that for a moment Rolan thought he was talking to a judge.

"Say, hmm, like, yesterday was a party here, and I started throwing sparks on people's hair with no reason or else you can say without my wish," explained Rolan.

"Sparks?" asked the confused, strange man.

"Yes, sparks, but green-colored, came out of my hands," Rolan showed his hands of the strange man.

"Oh really, are you sure?" asked the strange man after a long time (as if there is something wrong).

"Oddly enough… Huh?" Rolan laughed out loud.

But the strange man was looking very disturbed. His seriousness prevented Rolan from laughing anymore. And suddenly the strange man vanished.

"Are you drinking the water out of the latrine, boy?" shouted Mr. Stevens. He kicked at the door.

"No, sorry, just a minute more..." apologized Rolan to Mr. Stevens.

The day turned out to be as bad as ever. Rolan was getting bored with serving drinks to Mr. Stevens and his friends. After doing so much work, he was left alone in his room, but he did not know why he could not sleep. This happened to him for the first time in his life. His fingers swapped to the pen nearby, and he wrote ROLAN BROWN on the parchment paper, but now he is back to his senses and can read his writing. The images of the man flashed in his memory and he suddenly remembered that he had not asked the name of the odd but nice person. For an instant, he believed that the person was real and his words too. But how can a person reappear and disappear? He concluded that it's definitely a game of his mind and he dozed off immediately.
