40 Chapter 40 : Sacrifices for Sonny

Every step I took through the brush and trees led me closer to where Sonny was.

I knew that what I was doing could be considered foolish. We had to coordinate, and the more logical thing for me to do would have been to stay behind with the pack, to make sure that they had a leader should Sonny fall.

That wasn’t who I was, though.

I had never been the type of woman to stand by and let things just happen. I took initiative and got things done. I didn’t want to have to rely on anyone. It made relationships hard, but it was a part of me— and, right now, I was letting it take charge.

“F*ck, where are you?” I mumbled to myself as I searched for any trace of them.

My wolf was beyond tired, and my body was worn from everything that I had gone through. There was no way I was going to be able to shift to find him, and, knowing that, I was beginning to second-guess my choice of running in head-first as if I could conquer the world.
