5 Explaining Falna

As Julis inspected the paper with Alex's stats on it, the gears in her mind were rapidly spinning, she quickly realised that this 'growth type magic' has an incredible amount of potential!

"Technically, it has an unlimited amount of potential." Alex snapped her out from her thoughts, he could tell what she was thinking just from her expressions.

"The only limit there is, is the person itself."

"Each level achieved is a massive increase in one's power, but it only can be achieved through 'heroic deeds'."

"Have you ever heard of the Greek legends?" Alex's question made the pink haired princess frown at him.

"Of course I did! Like Heracles and his labours…" it was at that moment that she realised what he meant by 'heroic deeds'.

"Wait! So, you're telling me, to get those so-called 'levels', you will need to fight beings like the Hydra or the Nemean Lion?" She asked with an almost fearful voice.

She has read about those creatures, she knows what kind of absurd ability those types of creatures possess, like invulnerability or the ability to regrow slices of heads almost immediately!

"Yes…"

When he nodded at her, Julis paled, such power is great and all, but to get that power one needs to be suicidal!

"It's not that bad, Julis." Alex noticed how the princess paled, so he decided to ease her worries somewhat.

"First of all, this power operates like a video game, one gathers experience which increases one's stats." He pointed at the stats sheet.

"They operate separately from the levels, which means, it's recommended to increase the stats first before the level, because it acts like a layer." 

"Because, once you level up, you can't return to the previous level to increase your stats." He explained to her. She nodded in understanding before suddenly getting confused, why was he explaining this to her like she would get the power as well?

"Wait! Why are you explaining this in such detail? Not that I mind," She quickly added the last part to not sound rude.

"Because, I can give the same power to you." He said in a very obvious tone.

"There are beings here who are pure manifestations of certain aspects such as infinity, dreams, destruction, death, and so forth." 

Her eyes bulged out hearing that, having gods is one thing, but having pure manifestation of certain things like that was even worse!

"And we have just moved into a town that will become the centre of major events." He said that with a deadpan.

It was like living in New York—but not just any New York—the New York in Marvel…

If something bad happens, it is always guaranteed to be in that city. And it is the same here, mainly because of the Sacred Gears holders and just the powerful beings in general.

It's the only devil controlled 'outpost' on Earth, or at least he thinks it is, Alex doesn't remember another city like Kuoh ever being mentioned in canon.

Julis' eyebrow twitched for a second before she took a deep breath, she wanted to complain but, well, there is no point…

And, now that they live in that specific city.

*Deep Breath*

"Alright! So what do I have to do to get this…" She motioned her hand at the paper.

"...Falna." 

She nodded, making sure to remember that name.

"Right, before you start complaining…" He quickly got up from the couch and started to remove his t-shirt.

Julis's eyes, once again, widened seeing that.

"W-What…" She didn't even get to finish what she wanted to say as she saw a giant tattoo throughout his whole back.

"This is the Falna…" He said while motioning to his back.

"Now… Can you take a picture of it?" He asked her while handing over his phone.

Julis was in quite the shock seeing that tattoo, it had a bunch of unknown hieroglyphs on it.

She didn't even realise that she had his phone in her hands and that she had the chance to delete the folders with her pictures!

But, instead, she just followed what he asked and ended up just taking a photo and handing back the phone.

Once Julis took the picture and gave the phone back, the tattoo simply disappeared.

Alex knows this function and it is known as the 'locking', meaning that no one but the person who gave the Falna, can unlock it.

A pretty good way to hide a massive tattoo throughout one's back...

Once that was done, Alex put his t-shirt back on, and checked his phone.

Julis snapped out of her initial shock, she did not expect the falna to be a physical thing! 

And a tattoo of all things!

She then realised that she had his phone in her hands!

The princess nearly facepalmed.

"As you can see, it's on my back," Alex said, getting Julis's attention back.

It only took a few moments for the girl to connect dots… A blush returned to her face.

"D-Do you need my... bareback?" She asked with a shutter.

Alex internally smiled, if he had asked bluntly, he would have ended up having to listen to her tsun-tsun mode.

"Yes, my blood creates it, and it has to be on the skin." 

Julis sighed, hearing that. She had an internal battle for a few moments, before...

"Fine… But…" before she can say anything.

"Yes, yes, I know, you will turn me into cinders." He rolled his eyes at her.

She huffed at him, and Alex turned away, seeing that she had started to undress her top.

He waited for her to give him all clear.

"...you can turn around." She said with a shy tone.

Alex turned around and saw Julis' naked back, he slightly gulped down.

The girl in question just blushed even more intensely. Her skin around her neck and cheeks turned reddish, going all the way to her ears.

It was the first time that she has shown that much skin to anyone!

"Well!? What are you waiting for!? it's embarrassing!" Julis angrily snapped at him.

He snapped out of it, grabbing the needle he prepared beforehand.

"It's going to sting." He said to her as he poked his finger, he then used a specific spell, which he learned when he acquired the power of Falna.

This spell makes the blood look thicker as it turns into a drop of blood.

The moment it landed on Julis back, her whole body experienced a cold shiver.

The drop of blood sunk into her back, the very next second, a tattoo started to manifest.

A thin, almost mocking smile appeared on Alex's face when he saw what the tattoo looked like.

The Byzantine Empire's Crest; the double-headed eagle with a crown on its head.

The same symbol which is now used by the Russian Federation as their crest, the so-called 'Spiritual' successor of the Byzantine Empire.

His expressions pretty much said what he felt about that whole situation.

He can't really get over it…

Once the falna formed on her back, Alex took an empty sheet of paper, his finger glowed as he pressed on the paper.

Soon enough, letters started to appear on the paper, Alex could see Julis's stats.

Alex glanced at the only skills Julis had right now, he thought that her fire powers would have been considered magic.

But, the falna recognised it as a skill. A skill that can be trained, right now it's at 'I', considering how she used her fire abilities in Asterisk…

She should be advancing it soon.

"I am done here," Alex said while turning away, allowing her to fix herself up.

A few moments later and the princess was done, Alex could sit and face her again.

He handed over her stats sheet.

She quickly read them over. For a second, she frowned.

"As you said, I am not a genestella anymore," Julis said with a sigh, she was both happy and disappointed at the same time.

"Yes… it seems so. But the Falna is a very powerful thing, it can dig deep into one's genes and give similar abilities, a level 1 with stats in hundreds can already be considered superhuman ."

Julis's eyes widened, a level 1 was already that strong!?

"Wait, how do you know so much about this?" She asked with a very curious look.

"This power originated from a light novel, which is not out yet. I have read it and watched the anime, and more so, I got even more information when I activated the card." He explained to her.

The pink haired princess could only sigh again hearing that, it sounds absurd, but she has already died once, met a God, learned the truth about the multiverse, got sent to a different reality and then, once again, she crossed somewhere else.

She sighed once again…

But then, she quickly realised something, if she has just received a power from some light novel, then does that mean...

"WAIT! Does that mean we are currently in a light novel or anime?" 

She asked seriously.

Alex just nodded at her.

Julis continued to stare at him and wait.

…

"Well? Let's hear it!" 

Well, that only lasted for a few moments before she got impatient.

"Are you sure?" He seriously asked back, his lip slightly twitched.

"Of course! With such beings existing, we need all the advantages we can get!" Julis said in a very obvious tone, she can't believe that she even needed to say that to him.

While Alex can see where this was coming from, she didn't know what he knew…

*Sigh*

"Fine, I will tell you." He said while closing his eyes and preparing himself.

"Listen, we are in what is considered an Ecchi/Harem novel, where the main character is an extreme pervert, who is not afraid to hide his obsession with boobs," Alex said with a super serious and straight face.

It took several seconds for the princess sitting next to him to even realise what he just said.

"...You're not serious… are you?" She asked after several moments of waiting, she was closely looking at his facial expression.

Thinking that it was a joke, but how serious he looked, she had to start believing that...

"Yes I am, worst of all, he powers up by touching them…" He said that with an even louder sigh.

"P-Pervert! What is this place!?" She exclaimed with a red face, powering up by touching breasts! What is this place!?

"Yes, that's the original protagonist." Once again, Alex was serious.

"This place has many, many different types of energies. His power, the Sacred Gear, has a sealed dragon inside of it. Dragons are beings of pure power, and that power can be influenced by emotions." He explained about the absurd powers in DxD...

Julis instantly realised that there is more to this place than it just being all Ecchi...

"While the light novel is shown from his point of view, the world is not that simple." He continued with his serious tone.

"Another thing is that our existence… especially the app which brought us here, could have already messed up the whole plot." He pointed that out.

Her eyes slightly widened, she realised what he meant.

"The… 'butterfly effect'?" She asked with realisation.

"Correct, if the main character can gain power from just simple fondling, I believe we have a much better chance at getting stronger." Alex said with a slightly disgusted look.

People like Issei should die as early as possible especially in a story with such powers, the way he degrades females, even if he doesn't realise that, is just disgusting…

His plot armour, Ddraig, is wasted on such a pervert. It might have been funny when Alex read the whole story, especially the part where the dragon had a mental breakdown, but now, it's not funny anymore, it's his reality...

Issei's perversion has reached such a point where both dragons had mental breakdown, it even affected Vali and his dragon, he even received a new title from that!

In other words, he achieved that with nothing but his lust for boobs…

Julis just stared at him with disbelief, she was still trying to understand how in the world does such a thing even exist!

"Can you tell me more about this 'Sacred Gear'? You said it has a dragon inside of it." While the whole reality that she just arrived in sounds extremely weird! It's still an extremely dangerous place with gods and devils roaming around.

"Sure thing… let me start with the Biblical faction first, since the city we live in right now is controlled by devils from that faction."

Alex explained everything about the Biblical faction, The Great War, the devil civil war, the Heavenly Dragons, the Sacred Gears…and so on.

They spend the rest of the day just talking and getting to know each other.
