41 Awkward Recruiting Efforts
"Before we start, I have invited Sona to talk about the Fallen Angel which attacked Issei." The Gremory Heiress mentioned that to Alex.
When Rias mentioned Sona, he remembered something weird.
This morning, he was baffled that he didn't see Sona at the gate, only the Vice President.
And the taller girl only told him that the Student Council President was busy.
Such a lack of action instantly felt quite fishy for Alex. Sona is far too serious about not doing her morning rituals like that.
Especially if it's related to her school, she is that serious.
'Maybe our chess marches finally caught up to her?' For a second, he thought about that. He wondered how it would progress from here.
He can bet that Serafall should be on his case by now.
'That percentage goes up with me having Divine Dividing…power attracts power.'
He thought about this while stroking his lovely girlfriend's hair; by this point, the pink-haired girl closed her eyes and used Alex's shoulder as a pillow, completely ignoring where she was.
"Sure, from what I understand, she was a regular Fallen Angel with a single pair of wings." The black-haired teen, for a second, looked at the ceiling, pretending to recall things from the previous day.
Well, more like eight months ago, as that is how long they have been away.
"I see, nothing major then…" Rias sighed with relief; she didn't want to contact her older brother—at all!
"True, but you should contact Underworld. They should know that Fallen is operating in your territory." Alex sharply pointed out.
The red-haired devil flinched for a second from his look. She could only bite her lower lip from frustration. Should she tell him who is her older brother? And just how overprotective he is?
"I suggest we wait for a bit." Another voice said in Rias' sted. It came from back as everyone heard the doors opening.
Alex didn't need to look as he knew it was Sona. From her magic signature, even how she walked, he sensed it through vibrations before she opened the doors.
The teen grimaced, realising how he was picking all that up and analysing subconsciously. The static field idea, which was just an idea Julis gave him, was turning into the actual something.
For now, it didn't turn into a skill or magic, but it probably will in future if he can already make all that out from use at a subconscious level.
The Sitri Heiress walked over and sat on the next available couch next to Alex. Her gaze went on him for a moment. She saw Julis sitting on his lap and completely ignoring everything around them.
At that moment, some jealousy manifested in her gut. After all, she was supposed to be engaged to Alex now, but she did tell her parents. It was a mess.
She wants it to happen, and at the same time, she doesn't want it to happen, but she still needs to talk with him! But how? She wants it to be a conversation just between the two of them!
And then how will his girlfriend react? Internally, the black-haired girl grimaces at the incoming awkward conversation she will soon experience.
"I agree with Sona!" Rias happily said that, snapping the Sitri Heiress from her deep thought.
It's a pity the girl doesn't even realise that her prolonged silence and uncomfortable and outplaced behaviour didn't go unnoticed by the pair sitting next to her.
*Sigh*
"I can see that neither of you wants to contact people above; the problem with that is that the more it is going to get out of hand, the worse it is going to look on both of you, making you two look incompetent if you two are to follow the proper procedure then it will look that you are doing your duties properly, that's at least how things work from where I come from," Alex explained from his side and how he sees it.
As heir to a multi-billion euro company, he learned how things work in HIS future company. Hierarchy has to be kept in place, as it exists for a reason.
He still tries to wrap his head around how he got such company from such 'simple' card usage…
Rias and Sona looked at each other for a second. He could see that both of them were struggling to come up with a solution.
"I… suggest we at least check who we are dealing with before we report anything," Sona said while fixing her glasses. It was an instinctual thing for her at this point.
The Sitri Heiress tried to balance this between telling her sister and not disappointing Alex, as their unreasonable actions to him would look like incompetence.
Something she doesn't want at all, so she is having an extreme mental battle on how to progress from here.
Rias was in the same boat as her best friend. Both of them were pretty frustrated as they knew how their older siblings would react if they revealed some Fallen Angel activity in their territory.
"True, we can assess the situation before reporting anything to higher-ups. That would increase the prestige of you two as well. The better the report, the more competent you will look for the devils up there."
As Alex was talking about that, he could see gear starting to spin in their heads.
'Seriously, they are taking the bait so easily!'
'You do realise that they are extremely sheltered devil girls? At least that's what your memories have on them,' Albion chipped in.
'I thought you were catching up on your nap time?'
'I was, and still am…'
The black-haired teen's eyebrow twitched. If he is sleeping, why is he talking then?
'Not that it is bait, you simply giving them a good solution.'
'And making the Satans getting close to them and in turn yourself.'
'They are already skulking around as it is.' Alex internally eye-rolled at him.
'True, only this way they won't need an excuse to meet you.'
The white dragon pointed that out, not that the dragon was wrong. Only Alex dislikes incompetency much more than caring about attention.
"He is right. We can scout out some areas for these fallen angels, and then we will see what we are dealing with and report to—brother — or your sister."
Rias said with a reluctant voice. She got excited until she realised to whom she would have to report it.
The black-haired teen could feel how open Gremory was. One could piece together her family situation just from that.
'Sigh… I NEED to relax in some way… this is just getting ridiculous…' the teen thought with a grimace. His mind was falling right back into his hunter habits.
"Very well, then we can agree on this course of action," Sona spoke as she got up from her couch. The Sitri Heiress just wanted to go away and think.
"Yes! I will contact you on how we will proceed!" Rias was quite excited about this for a moment. Maybe she can get some brownie points by showing off her managing skills!
The black-haired devil heiress nodded before leaving the occult research club. For a second, she looked at Alex before closing the doors behind her.
Sona's strange behaviour didn't go unnoticed by Rias either. The red-haired heiress was curious about what was happening with her best friend and rival.
'Did someone beat her in chess?' She curiously looked at the doors for a second. Such an idea was quite baffling for Rias. Not even adult devils can beat her best friend in chess!
'Still, something DID happen, and she continuously would look at Komnenos-san. Does she have some feelings for him?' Gremory heiress started to speculate, even utilising her otaku knowledge to come up with a plausible conclusion!
"Now that that is out of the way, we can discuss something else." Rias got everyone's attention back on her.
Her Peerage could see some nervousness in her voice, too. Akeno was quiet the whole time and mostly observed Alex, trying to piece together the mystery which is him.
The Queen can tell he is highly gifted at wielding lightning, something she has not expected to see in someone who has no direct connection to any supernatural being a parent.
And it could not be a Sacred Gear. She had not heard of such gear before.
The black-haired teen was like a nexus of electricity! As someone who wields lightning as well, this was utterly ridiculous!
Such connection to Lightning should only exist with an elemental being OR a God of such element!
"You asking us to join your peerage?" Alex eye-rolled while saying that. Even Julis opened her eyes and looked at Rias'.
At that moment, ocean-blue eyes meet another pair of ocean-blue eyes.
One pair of them narrowed her eyes. The redhead slightly flinched when she felt IT… a threat to her life...
'W-What kind of training did they go through? I can feel goosebumps going through my back!'
Rias doesn't realise, but by this point, Julis has killed hundreds of wolves by burning, stabbing, or making them explode.
It was approaching the point that it was already becoming a natural thing to use her powers to slay.
That's why the Gremory heiress, a supernatural being, picked it up. Her senses are sharper compared to ordinary people. She can tell that the girl in front of her looks like a beautiful high schooler who can kill her without even batting an eye.
"Y-Yes…" Seconds later, she composed herself." Unlike most devil families, we Gremory treat our Peerage with respect and treat them fairly."
"And that is why I should join?" Alex asked with a baffled look. Rias needs lessons on how to offer deals ASAP! That doesn't sound like a devil's offer at all!
"N-No! We can offer lands, titles, money, and good protection from supernatural forces! Not only that, but perks of the devil race, and once you have distinguished yourself, you can get peerage on your own and even harem if you want! Devil laws allow it!"
Alex can hear lewd giggling in the background; Issei got bought over already.
"Protection, huh, I see. So, your brother is in quite a high position then?"
The black-haired teen didn't expect Rias to use her brother like that. Then again, she was desperate.
"Y-Yes, he is currently Lucifer and very overprotective of me; that's why I don't want to mention to him about those Fallen Angels…" The red-haired heiress came out clean with him; there was no need to hide stuff if she wanted him to join his peerage.
"That's why I want to show him I can care for myself!"
"By showing some rebellious tendencies and rushing headfirst into the unknown?" Alex said with a deadpan look.
His girlfriend slightly snorted upon hearing that. Even Rias Queen tried hard not to laugh.
"...It came out wrong…" Rias blushed for a second and even looked away.
She just embarrassed herself!
*Sigh*
"Well, nonetheless, I will decline your offer respectfully, but we can have a contract if you want. I do have some magic practice."
*Snort*
The Heavenly Dragon snorted hearing about his 'magic practise'.
Still, he is better than the ultimate pervert.
Rias nodded at him. At least she made some progress! Better than Sona!
"Okay! I agree!"
Alex sighed internally after hearing that. Now that it is over, he can leave and try to relax away from this school stuff.
Julis moved off him when she felt he wanted to move. They were about to leave when they heard.
"W-Wait! Komnenos-san! If you want, you can stay here, and we can explain some things to Issei!"
The black-haired teen was about to decline, but then he remembered something.
'Wasn't it today when that fedora guy attacked the perv?'
'I think so. The 'anime' and books don't explain specific times each event happens…'
'Well, it's worth trying. I want to see how I stack up with that guy…'
'He is a two-winger crow. You will demolish him…' Albion spoke with a bored and sleepy tone.
'True, even better, I need some practice against humanoid-type enemies.'
'True… very well wake me up when you fight him.'
After saying that, Alex heard him fall asleep, and his eyebrow twitched for a second. For others, it looked like he was thinking about something instead of talking with Heavenly Dragon.
'I am an alarm clock now?'
"Fine, let's see how you would introduce the supernatural world to him. I will add if you mess up something."
Rias pouted at him this time. Akeno laughed, and even her knight slightly smiled hearing that, which he hid quickly enough.
Only Julis had a questioning look directed at him. Why was he staying?
Nonetheless, the red-haired heiress smiled. She gets some brownie points if she does the whole thing properly!
The black-haired teen motioned for the pervert to get up from the couch and sit in front of Rias while he took the pervert's old seat, got to the sideline and got comfortable on the oversized couch not far from the silver-haired cat girl.
Such a seat is much better than the other one. He has even more space to cuddle.
Only that the silver-haired girl moved away from him, softly mumbling something about dragon smell.
"Why don't we get some tea? Akeno, please make us some tea." Rias decided it was time to show off what her Queen could do!
