Chapter 013 Almost Died

Based on this information, the Konoha ninja attacked several secret bases of Iwagakure. However, soon after, the commander of the battlefield was changed from Orochimaru to Nara Shikaku.

This surprised everyone because Orochimaru had been on the battlefield for many years. It was therefore expected that he would eventually change.

As Menma was passing by Orochimaru's tent office, he heard the sound of a very faint footstep walking inside the tent. He didn't stop and continued as if he were an unaware passerby.

After walking at a distance, he erased his presence and smell and started listening to their conversation using his advanced Cloaking technique.

Orochimaru is talking with a man wearing a plain mask.

Orochimaru said, "You should know that root movements will raise suspicions in the eyes of the Third Hokage. So, tell me why Danzō sent you here."

A root member said at that time, "Lord Danzo sends his greetings to you. Regarding the secret project, everything has been prepared. You may start at any time."

Orochimaru looked a little stunned, and then a scary smile appeared on his face.

He then looked at Root member and said, "So it is Danzo who pulled the strings; I can go back to the village for some rest. In his words, work for him secretly."

A root member replied, "Master took a lot of pain to bring you back to the village. And it is reasonable for you to come back after all; you have been living here for more than five years. Change is necessary for cooperation."

Orochimaru dismissed him immediately after receiving the news as if he didn't care about his presence.

The root member passed by Menma but didn't stop or check on him. When he left, Menma didn't stop his precautions. He went towards his tent and undid his cloaking technique.

He was really surprised that his advanced cloaking technique was very useful in this kind of situation. No one even took him for a human being or an object. That is the whole purpose of the advanced cloaking technique - to become one with your surroundings. There are no leaks of sound, smells, or even heartbeats. They traveled for three days through roads, and forests, and even crossed rivers before stopping at a final resting place before reaching their goal.

Jonin Kaite led them as they ran at full speed through the trees.

"I can sense a 12-chakra team in front of us in the distance. Eleven chunin and one jonin leading that team." Menma immediately stopped them. He sensed that they were waiting in a place as if waiting for an ambush. They were waiting to take the documents from our hands.

Jonin Kaite looked worried upon hearing this. This was a pre-planned ambush. Had they traveled farther in that direction, the enemy would have ambushed them immediately.

Jonin Kaite is worried because he has to deliver this information to the secret base. This path is the only one that leads to that place.

Menma said at that time, "I have a plan. You run around this place and take that route. I will trick these guys and join you immediately."

Another ninja noticed that he was alone. "He is luring us away from his companions."

The chunin ninja tried to kick him, but Menma deflected it and moved with great speed.

Two more chunin tried to ambush him, but he substituted himself at the last second. His substitution had a long range.

One of the chunin said, "Let's finish him quickly and catch the others as well; he has killed many of our allies."

But before anyone else could speak, Menma moved like a monkey through the trees.

Even after hearing his taunts in their current state, they became enraged and threw kunai at him from every direction possible.

He was riddled with kunai but then turned into a wooden pole. Appearing behind a cloud ninja, he beheaded the chunnin with one strike under the shocked faces of the others.

Menma took the kunai out of his stomach and it was still bleeding from that spot. The Cloud Jonin appeared near him and tried to slash at his throat. But Menma dodged it this time by an inch. Menma created a distance and he used Clone jutsu. A total of 20 Clones appeared.

The Cloud jonin looked at the shadow of his illusory clone. But he found that all the other clones had shadows too. It was not a shadow clone jutsu. The remaining chunin started throwing kunai and shuriken wildly at the clones.

Menma moved quickly, avoiding most of the shurikens and kunai, but some still managed to cut him and inflict injuries. He was dodging, running, jumping, and doing everything he could to stay alive in the face of danger.

He can keep fighting with chunins and may survive, but the Jonin became a huge problem for him. He jumps from tree to tree, avoiding all the shurikens and kunai. Detonation charms are thrown towards him in a fit of rage. But Menma is changed into substituted wood at the last moment.

Menma attempted the mystical palm technique from within his body. He continued to move around the trees and dodge the three blood-eyed Cloud shinobi.

The Cloud Jonin was chasing him like a hound. As soon as the Cloud Ninja appeared near him instead of dodging, he took the blow to his stomach again. But this time, Menma slapped a seal on the Cloud Ninja's body and said, "Chakra Seal."

The Cloud Jonin felt that in one moment his weakness had taken over him, but then Menma beheaded him immediately. Menma was bleeding again from a different side of his stomach, but he had protected the most important part.

The Chakra Seal was the highest seal he had mastered at the Academy. He practiced it countless times and finally perfected it just before his graduation.

The remaining two Cloud ninja wanted to flee after their Jonin was dead. Menma didn't fear these two Chunins who were fleeing for their lives.

Menma undid his transformation and came to one of them in speed. He kicked one of the Cloud Chunin immediately and took him by surprise. Another one tried to punch him in the stomach. But Menma moved like a snake and came behind him immediately and slashed at his neck. He beheaded him easily. He went after the last Cloud Chunin who was trying to flee. Then last cloud Chunin heard a voice from afar.

"Cheetah speed hunt"

The cheetah-like speed of the boy's escape caught the Chunin's attention as he quickly glanced behind himself and noticed that the boy had come up to him within seconds and wielded a sword in his hand.

Then he saw his own headless body with his own upside-down eyes.

Menma approached the last corpse and said, "You should have killed me when that Jonin attacked me back then. You missed your chance."

Menma started to collect their weapons and ninja items into a sealing scroll. And collected their corpses into another one. He collected all the 12 cloud ninja's corpses.

He unleashed all of his chakra to heal his body using medical ninjutsu. He focused very hard. After ten minutes, he fully healed himself. However, he felt he had exhausted his chakra greatly and was now extremely weak.

He doesn't have any more strength left, but he starts walking slowly in the direction his companion went to deliver the scroll. He used all his chakra to heal his wounds and seal the items and corpses. He also used a lot of chakra during the fight. He is now completely drained of his chakra.

He felt his body was in pain, even after using healing jutsu. It might be because he used too much physical force to fight them like a dying tiger. He had to reach camp for further normal treatment.

It felt like an eternity as he walked slowly toward the destination. But he kept on walking.

He walked for forty minutes in a weakened state, but before he could collapse, he saw Jonin Kaito come back with Minato Namikaze and twenty other Konoha ninjas. He was so weak at that point; that he passed out.

A medic rushed in and treated his leftover injuries and exhausted body immediately. Rin Nohara started treating him immediately.

Minato said, "Your student stalled them for a long time. And he managed to survive it; that's amazing." Minato praised him at that time. Kakashi and Obito were also there at that time.

Other ninjas immediately set out to search for that location, but they all returned empty-handed. The jonin, Kaite, looked concerned for his student.

One of them said, "Minato-sama, we found traces of battle and blood in some places. There was also a heavy explosion in another place. However, there are no corpses; it seems like someone has taken them away."

Kaite saw two scrolls in Menma's pocket. He took them and tried to unseal them.

A total of twelve corpses of Cloud ninja appeared, and a few of them were headless corpses.

Obito was a little scared after seeing so many corpses appear in front of him; Kakashi acted like nothing had happened, but he was equally shocked.

One Leaf shinobi said, "Isn't that the head of a Cloud jonin? His head is worth ten million ryo. How did a genin go ahead and kill so many of them?"

Minato checked the corpse of that jonin and said, "He sealed his chakra and killed him. Interesting idea of using seals in the middle of a battle." Minato only uses Flying Thunder God Jutsu and it uses complex seals but they are made before the battle.

Kaite had to seal them again. Rin had given enough treatment to Menma and now other treatments would be followed in the camp.

One shinobi carried Menma, and they all returned to their hidden village base camp.
