6 6. Strange (Stranger)

We were watching while concealing our presence. The lowest rank of evolved ogre, though low shouldn't be easily killed by a human, especially human woman. I had heard they were the most fragile being among two sexes. They carried strength in their mind but physically, they were completely helpless.

Did the world changed so much after leaving it for far too long?

That shouldn't be remotely possible. But the intriguing part was, she, that woman though swift and managed to hurt them a bit, couldn't completely eradicate those evolved ogre not until few minutes later. And I was still processing the view in front of me in astonishment.

Its a well known fact that to kill beings like them, you have to destroy their core. And I didn't see her destroying them at all. Yet, they died, and somehow burnt.

What kind of sorcery was this?

We jump and landed on the ground. One of my men checked, and raised his eyebrow.

"She lost a lot of blood. What should we do?"

"Hmm.." just I was about to heal her, all of the burnt corpses of the ogres shook and we went on high alert, taking out our weapons readying for another attack. But this time blue lights came out from their chest and float before shooting right to the woman body.

"It's their core!!!! She's absorbing it!!" Exclaimed one of my men. That made me surprised. I never seen something like this in my entire long life.

Is she practicing dark arts? No. The law of nature had explicitly barred anything such that and completely make the anyone that tried to do that would explode in a second.

We waited and waited. Instead, her body start to glow before finally it stopped, taking away all her wound or bruises.

"Interesting" my attention trained completely on this woman. Seeing her lay on the ground, unguarded and serene, she look so beautiful and... magical. What is she?

"What should we do to her? Should we take her back with us?"

I shook my head. From the look of it. This was her first encounter of our world. I wanted to learn more about her. Whether she would be dangerous or beneficial to our world. It is not my style to not give them chance of doubt.

"No. Let her be. Her life is not in any danger. Clean everything up. Dispose of all corpses, call Duane. Tell him to tail this woman every moves. He knows this world better than us."

I bent a little bit lower to touch the woman cheek. For a moment, i had forgotten about what my touch cause. I was mesmerised by the woman, from the beginning until now. But that is impossible to admit and i wouldn't show such emotion. Else, i will have to face sea of red yet again after so long.

As i touch her cheek, the woman's eyebrows furrow before it settle into smile. She was sleeping soundly and i found that I wanted to cherish this woman even more. I quickly retracted my hand and lace both of it behind my back.

"On second thought, tell Duane and Latla to report to me. I will personally give them their order. I ignore the looks thrown at me, the questioning and puzzled looks.

'Why would he called one of the top assassin and spy together?'

'Did he just touch the human face?'

'Is she still breathing? She is!'

I left, not sparring another glance. For fear, I might not able to go without her in tow.
