31 31.Mysterious places

The man was peerless beautiful yet meticulously swift in his execution and chilling to look at. Even until now, part of me are scared of him while the other part of me remember the broken and anguish that he showed on his face when he thought that I would leave him.

Jumping from the roof as if he was gliding on the air, his eyes was trained on me. Quickly, I schooled my face into indifference one, but maybe I was too slow.

He stood in front of me, without a speck of blood on him, except on his hand where he had caught the wickedly evil looking arrow. Amazing how he could avoid the blood when it had basically rained around the place, it didnt spare nothing, not including me.

He hold out his hand, and touch my cheek.

Rubbing it, he look at me straight.

"I wont hurt you, never doubt that" it came out as a whisper, yet it penetrate through the silent night clearly.

Hearing that, I feel a little bit irritated, a small one yet enough to make me slightly veered from my fear.

"I learned not to trust people who tell me that" My parents had promised me that once but their death had hurt me. My uncle had promised me to trust that they'll never hurt me but because I declined of being the 'star genius niece' they had hurt me. Winston and my friends.. even the whole reason of Why Yui had become his wife and die as his wife was because of him. In the end.. I believe that you can only trust you not to hurt yourself.

"I know you dont trust me but-"

"Your hand. Lets treat that" I point at it, trying to change the subject.

"It'll heal by itself"

"Fine. Suit yourself. I need to bath because I reek of blood" and really... the view around us all bath with red, not to mention the tangy metallic scent of it... it kills one appetite or mood. When I just about to turn around, I hesitated a bit.

I had stayed there for a night and in the next morning, we set out from his place. Amazingly, his place was another empty energy bubbles though smaller scale than the city of reryks, it was enough to live. It was rather unique actually, because among other thing, this one was movable. As long as he summoned it, the portal to that space will open up. Once you enter it, the portal will stay open until he retract it back.

We had few q&a about it and I was surprised to know that the portal to empty space should never be close when someone is inside. It is the same as confined in a box. No air getting in or out. One could try to get out from there by tearing the space up; that may lead to another open space if one is lucky, or dead end and stay in a limbo of space that might destroy you-this was purely out of theory of the magic researchers. Since the space was made up from a strong current of energy, having a direct contact to the source of power, would strain your body and end up killing you. From what I had understand, the simplest explanation is like, we're inside a bubble. And that bubble is Submerge under a water. Once you pop the bubble, it spells doom. Which is why he had left the portal open and thus the entry of others.

"Then how about the city of reryks? The portal didnt open until I summoned it"

"It is open actually but hidden with a spell. reverse the spell or on reryks case, the key word and you can see the portal to the city. It work the same with the private library if you had been to that place. That place had a tighter security, even if you had the correct key to it, the owner of it may not give you entrance, that is why most people would try to curry favor to the owner"

"Do you know the owner?"

He shook his head.

"I wander around this earth for a long time and I occasionally came here just for.. a little bit fun. So I only know some of it. You can ask me about eastern territory but here, not so much. Besides, I never stay here for too long."

He shrugged.

"There are hundred of these type powerful places that are guarded tightly. They are revered and remain neutral from other parties. Weapons and armory, auction houses, medical, tower of magic, alchemist, guardians, and a lot more" the more he told me, the more excited I was. It seems there are more that I can explore and need to see for myself. These things werent written in the books and I bet it was because no one want to offend them.

My wheel of my start to turn fast, trying to digest everything. Thinking back of what had happened, how prepared the assassins was...
