21 21. Isle of abolitis (3)

Again with the torturous laugh. Markus winced seeing the cat and looked away.

"Can you stop that? You look like you're choking to death" I said finally. Unable to stand looking at the cat laughing again. That had stopped the cat and it look at me incredulously.

"I am as handsome as I am in my original form, so I know I look good in anything I do, mind you" a snicker can be heard on the side, toward Markus side. But upon glancing at him, he had school his face with perfectly serious and calm face.

"If that is define as handsome, I wonder what shitting face called? Drop dead gorgeous?" I said drily. The cat frowned. He padded toward the largest stand mirror and went to practice his facial expression only to jump backward himself, all his fur stand up straight.

A laughed broke out from Markus. That had incite cough from the cat.

"Ehem. As I was saying, You can help, nothing escape this nose you know. You smell ridiculously thick with trails of magic." He rubs the tear drop gem on his forehead with his paw languidly. that was enough sign to convey what he had not said.

'Not to mention, I could see your aura' kind of talk. That had shut me up.

"I am new and I wish not to be involved in other business. I have my own problem to deal with" I said simply.

They stare at me long enough for me to see their wheel of mind working really fast. Not letting this opportunity to go waste. It seems the moment the cat had said he could smell my magic, Marcus eyes gone sharp and alert.

"How ridiculously thick magic?" Asked Markus, completely ignoring my say on it and was quick to jump in.

"Unimaginable. She can be your army"

"And who says I am going to be one?" I said calmly, all the while nursing my growing irk inside my heart. I already had an enemy who I never met or be involved with. Now they are asking me to exposed myself to these bunch of strangers to fight their enemy? Hell no!

"How about this? You are new, we can teach you a lot of things, I am sure it should caught your interest by now."

My lips curved upward slightly. True, what I had seen earlier had caught my eyes and I find it rather interesting. And all Laura had told me was how to strengthen my core and control the elements. She didn't teach me any other magic, just telling me I will get it when the time is right. But what I had saw was enough for me to remember it and from what I had read in the library gate of wisdom, I was more than confident that I will be able to replicate it as much as I can.

One thing Laura didn't teach me was, the magic had evolved. Or the way of magic was used was evolved. I dont know whether it was because Laura hadn't been outside for a long time or she specifically hide it away from me. Both are plausible but it doesn't matter what the reason it.

Rather than drawing pentagram like the old way, it appear magically. Rather than just fly using potion, they used a pentagram. I noticed most of the vehicles *cough* skateboard and brooms that was used flying around the whole had few pentagram on it.

It seems that they had modernised the whole magic principle from the old time. One question remain was what had happened during the time between of the modernisations of magic and ancient time. It drew blank and I couldn't find any answers from the library, after shifting through my memories.

"The new way of magic is completely new and only two places in this world was able to do this. Others had to make do with a scrap of magic they could which is why they could barely survived." Explained Marcus patiently, but I could see a pride shone brightly in his eyes.

"Oh? Why other can't use this?"

"They dont have proper methodology"

"I am sorry but I don't think I am interested to learn it but thanks anyway for your invitation. I think I had seen isle of abolitis enough."

I turned around.

"What? You're going to jump to your death? You didnt even bring any potion with you."

Said the cat lazily.

"I know that was the reason you had brought me up here." So I could feel trapped. Not really a good way to make me cooperate with them.

"I choose what I want to do and no one can make me do what I don't want to do" with that parting words, I walk while imagining that my energy interconnecting until it shaped into the same pentagram I have seen on the skateboard and the cat had used. Pushing the door open, it creak out loud. I know they are letting me walk out because they dont think I couldn't possible leave the premise. Not without any tools, potion or like their pentagrams. And that is exactly what I'll give them.
