18 18. Bookworm

I lost my sense of time, burying myself in the book. My inner bookworm mode had completely overtaken my body and It seems that Esbar had been doing his best to feed some food and drink since he was scared that I'll be the first one to die from reading too many books.

It wasnt a rare occasion where some would camp on the library as long as they can but I was the first one to read non stop, losing myself completely in my own world. After finishing all of the books, I finally stop and it was only then I noticed how smelly, tired, thirsty and famish I was.

Esbar clicked his tongue and shook his head.

"Its no wonder. Since you've been going about for two weeks. You're dead set on skimming all the books here non stop. No matter how eager you are, you should think about your health, missy" chided Esbar, it seems he was rather being familiar to me now that I had stayed there for fourteen days. My blank gaze must be apparent to him that he sighed.

"Figured. She didn't remember anything at all" he mumbled. He put down a cup of coffee and a slice of cheese cake.

"Eat that." I nodded silently and dig in the food. The cake instantly melt on my tongue that reawakened my dry taste buds with its explosive sweetness.

I eat away happily.

Another one entered the library and Esbar soon greet her.

"... I need this recipe since my daughter cant take any other medication.."

"The recipe of Rhombus compos animi?.. I haven't heard that for a long, long time... Let me check it out on the back" said Esbar.

"5 drops of Lavender essence oil, 2 leaves of hawthorn, 3 leaves of skullcap. Crush it together and blend it for three to five minutes. " I said absentmindedly, still perusing all information within my mind. Taking too many words and stuffing it without a rest really taking a toll on me.

Esbar turn around and look at me with shocked. A strange glint passed his eyes and I was too lazy to think too much about it. Or maybe I was too tired. Dang. I am never going to do this again.

"When was the last golden Sol of flos seen and who founded it?"

"Early 5th century by Duke Meldon"

He looked at me dumbfounded.

"I'll be damned. That's explain why you would go through all of these books" he exclaimed in shocked. It was then I blinked my eyes and look at him, frowning.

I stood up and put down the cup.

"I had been staying here for too long. Thanks for everything. Oh and the book she want is on the left side, rack no 181, row five the 12th books from the right side. If, I remembered it correctly" I grinned and quickly excuse myself stepping out from the library with a large smile planted on my face.

It was still dark outside, but I was surprised to see the cat sleeping soundly on top of a big rock beside where I had parked my car. I had almost forgotten about the cat shifter.

"Took you long enough to come out. I thought the books had killed you with their ancient germs and dust."

"You're still here.." it wasnt a question, really. I was simply surprised thats all.

The cat cracked open one of its eyes and look at me.

"I knew you'll come out, which is why I stay"

"What gives you confidence?"

"Esbar will kick you out if you over stay your welcome" the cat grinned. "No one can stay in that library more than two weeks. Its the rule, everyone knows that."

I laughed at that.

"Then, I barely managed to get away from being kicked out"

"Oh, and I thought he kicked you out?"

"Nah, I read it all so I'm done"

The cat laughed and it does look creepy seeing a cat laughing. I kid you not, it look like a cat swallow a fish bones and entered the wrong pipe. Ridiculously, torturous look. I almost want to tell the cat to stop. I feel like I'm abusing it somehow. For not helping it, or something. Half of me know that its laughing but that look is just wrong.

"You can't be serious. All that hundred thousands books?"

"Yep" that had stopped that torturous laughing look on that cat.

"I see.."

He look at me with both eyes open now. Before the cat open his mouth, I quickly interject him

"I'm famished and stinky. Help me find a good place to stay"

The cat was looking at me for a long time before hopping inside the car.

"I have a place in mind" said the cat, watching every moves that I made. I bet he is calculating and thinking whether I had found out about him or not.

I am not about to indulged him about it. Not until I am sure, that where he stand: as my enemy or my ally.
