16 16.Gate of wisdom

I was taking everything in, heart filled with slight trepidation. I wanted to know what will I find when I reach my destination. curiosity gnawing inside of me. The cat is sleeping soundly, and I wonder why did the woman earlier paled when she saw the cat. Why did this cat decided to appear here, right inside my car? There are a lot of questions swirling inside my mind but for now I push it away to the deepest crease of my mind. I'll pluck it out again when I gain more information about this world.

Patience. I have to be patience. As I drive the car climbing up the hill, Following the blue will o the wisps i found that we had traveled quite far from the busy and loud city. The whole hill surrounded by thick forest of trees. Upon reaching the final orbs, the will o wisps slowly fading into the night, leaving me alone with my car oh and the cat. I went out the car slowly, and look around.

I couldn't see a library not even a small hut. So where is this so called library that supposed to be here? then I remembered what the cat had told me.

'A drop of blood on the card will do it' the cat had said lazily. I took out the card, and flipped open a small knife that I had stashed inside my messenger bag and quickly slash slightly on my finger. A droplet of blood soon came out and I let it drop on the card.

And just like that, the card flashed bright, making my eyes instinctively closed to protect from the sudden flash and fly upward at the centre of the hill. Amazingly, a pillar of light stab on the ground. It was then I noticed a slight ripple on the pillar and went near it.

"Wow what do you know! Its authentic, alright." The surprised voice from behind me, made me turn around to see the cat jump out from the car.

"What should I do next?" I asked still gripped with awe.

"Enter the pillar and you shall see what you seek" I step forward, into the light, feeling warm all the way to my bone before making another step that transported me to a new place.

Magnificent and ancient. Two words that suit the whole place. Books organised in racks upon racks from bottom to the top.. two,three,four no five floor high. The whole place was spacious and all was filled with books. Its quite puzzling that only few people there milling around, with books on their hands. A place magnificent as this should be crowded with people.

A man that look in his late fifty came with a slight bow. He was all smiling pleasantly, greeting me.

"How can I help you, miss?"

"I need to find a book about type of blood"

His eyebrow shoot up, and a little bit puzzled by my request.

"Is there any specifics that you would like to know?"

"Uhm.." I was chewing my lips knowing what I'll say is a secret that I wish no one could hear.

"Do not worry, miss. We are shrouded by silencing spell. No one could hear us. The books here also is only for your eyes to see unless it is unsealed. We strive to give the best experience to our readers, and it is within our policy to protect the privacy of our readers including what you request to find" explained the man reassuringly, after watching my hesitation on my face.

"Origin of Poison blood that kills supernatural beings and hidden name"

That had incite a shocked look from him. It took him a moment to composed himself back and leading the way.

"Right this way" I followed him and we entered another portal. The rack outside was made from woods but here it was completely different. The dark crystal like the colour of amethyst housed each one of the books, suspended on the air, giving off chilling and dangerous look.

"I do not normally let other people in here unless they present me the 'gate' key.. but since I can smell the scent of that shifter on you and you do carried some familiar scent.. I'll let you read all of these as much as you want, only for today." He

I nodded and thanked him.

"May I know what is your name?" Asked the man who could pass as a perfect gentleman butler In of dirty rich mansion. He look at me with a quell interest.

"I'm Kea." It's short and not exactly my real name, well only half of it. He smile politely and bow slightly In perfect mannerism.

"forgive me, as I haven't introduce myself yet. I am called Esbar and i am the one who forsee this whole library here. if you have any question or need my help to find more information other than these, just ring that bell and I'll come" I nodded again and smile upon seeing an old bell on top of the glass table. as soon as he disappeared, my lips curved upward.

He did said i can read all of these only for today. And I'll definitely read all of these. Thankfully, I was born with photographic memory which defy human rationality and these were among secrets that I had kept silently for years. And it seems I'll be adding a huge collection of it after this..

I sat there, flipping through the books with ease, enough seconds each page to commit it in my mind. Too many books and too little time, I was going to make a library out of these books inside my mind.
