6 Chapter 6

It was the usual night as before. She could not sleep at all. What a troublesome problem she had. Despite her being not in her normal body, this sleep disorder was successfully passed down to her new body. Great, really great. The only her new body inherited despite the odds.

She tossed and rolled on the bed. The blanket has been tossed aside and her garment has wrinkled due to her angry movement. Eyes stared on the beautiful white ceiling. It has been decorated with a few tiny lamps, it looked like stars especially when the intensity of the light was lowered into a dimmed like.

It looked exactly like a scattered star in the sky. Colorful and beautiful.

She raised her hands, tried to grab the stars mindlessly as the brain wandered to the fantasy world. Blinking her eyes a few times, trying to search her sleepiness but to no avail.

There's no cure.

Even the personal doctor who has reached heavenly levels wouldn't have been able to cure her insomnia. She tried to minimize the intake of the sleeping pills because she would be grumpy and woke groggily if she ever consumed such drugs.

So, she could only take a risk by not sleeping at all for more than many times despite her family worries.

"Hah~" She huffed tiredly. "I can't sleep." She whispered alone. She's looking around to find any interesting object to cure her boredom, yet she found nothing of such. "Should I walk in the garden?"

She pondered alone, shutting and opening her eyes a few times, still trying to sleep. She then woke up and came down from her bed. It seemed she would not get any sleep again for tonight.

She should appreciate the actual stars instead of wasting her time trying to count the fake stars above. She walked towards the closet and rummaged inside to find a scarf before wrapping it around her shoulder as any noble would do.

She tried to follow every teaching of her teacher to act like a noble, these kinds of unnecessary layers of clothes were vital and important. Oh well. Whatever.

She then closed the closet once again and wore her night walk sleepers then strode towards the door. She opened it and the beautiful dimmed light greeted her. She sighed, unaware of her surroundings.

"My Lady."

Oh yes. She forgot the existence of the guard at her outside bedroom door. She composed herself once again and gave him the radiant smile.

"Hello, sir Derrick."

"Hello, My Lady. What are you doing out here at this hour?" The beautiful knight, with yellow hair, white smooth skin has no pore on his face, and an average height for a man with a toned body kneeled on one knee to be on the same height level as her, smiling radiantly to her.

Elizebeth just blinked her eyes innocently. By doing so, she knew she didn't have to answer the question evaded them to know her inner turmoil altogether.

"Still cannot sleep?" The kind Derrick didn't take her reaction wrongly. Kindly proceed to the next question.

She nodded clumsily and hugged the door pitifully.

Derrick pondered a bit. His heart hurt to see his beloved young lady leaned over the door pitifully with red eyes, tired but couldn't sleep. He rubbed his chin for a while. "Do you want to go outside? I heard the stars are clear tonight."

Elizebeth quickly nodded to hear the offer. Of course, sir Derrick was the only one who knows her heart the best. As result, sir Derrick was the only one offering himself to take her outside whenever she couldn't sleep. The other knights were too firm and forced him to eat the pills even when she hated it. It was not a secret sir Derrick was her favorite amongst many.

"Let's go." Derrick offered his hand.

"Okay," Elizebeth beamed and took the hand, and followed him with her pace towards the garden.

They walked side by side with one destination in mind. To the garden.

Whilst sir Derrick walked in silence, understanding her feeling to be left alone, Elizebeth looked around inside the mansion. In this mansion, they had seven areas. The largest was of course their bedroom areas.

Due to the reconstruction that Duke made right after she was born, Duke put all the bedrooms in one area in which her room was surrounded by his family rooms. Right in front of his bedroom were his parents, at each side were the first and the second son while the third was next to the second room.

Other areas were a living room, guest bedrooms, dining room, kitchen, tea room, library, and lastly a workroom for the duke. Maids and butlers had separated areas just behind the mansion.

It was not much, it was considerably nice. Their workers' rooms were considered fancy and full of accommodation. Their family values every worker's health so their productivity increased. All to make sure Elizebeth to have the best service from them.

"My father asked for my opinion." She started.

"Opinion? Regarding what issue, My Lady?" Derrick looked down to have a look at her. The brunette hair of the young lady met him as she looked around the mansion. Her gorgeous wavy hair swirling around following her lovely movement.

"He wants to change the front door."

Derrick smiled upon hearing those. Indeed. His lord did inform him of his decision to change the front door. "And what possibly troubles you, My Lady?"

Elizebeth shook her head solemnly. "Why did he ask me?"

Derrick chuckled. Indeed. Why asked the young lady when the duchess was the one who was responsible for the mansion affair? "I'm sorry, My Lady. I have no idea, either."

Elizebeth clicked her tongue subtly. She didn't want the responsibility. After all, what a mere five-year-old girl could do? After she was aware of who she was in this entire nation, she wanted nothing but to be a slacker in this life instead of working hard. All of her life before, she had to work harder than everyone just to have a proper meal.

In this life, she swore upon herself to leech off everyone around her to have a good life and off to a faraway place just to have a pleasant life away from the duchess title or whatever title she would inherit shortly.

Her life at a stake here. And now responsibility inside the mansion? When she was only five? Don't be kidding her!

She put her index finger on her lips and tilted her head, "I don't know."

Derrick chuckled again. His pretty young lady looked so innocent and pretty even wearing a nightgown. "Tell that to the lord. He will understand."

But, Elizebeth didn't agree at all. She knew her father too well. He expected her to have an answer by tomorrow even means by giving the ugliest idea ever. She was Elizebeth after all. Her father would surely put the ugliest door recommended by her if she wasn't careful enough. The visitors would whisper creepily behind her back once they learned who the idea bank was. She could not risk her reputation.

"May I browse the door catalog tomorrow morning?" She locked her eyes with sir Derrick.

Derrick however stared at her pitifully. His young lady sure works harder than everyone despite her unsavory situation. "I will think about it if you sleep tonight."

Elizebeth just sighed tiredly after that which flinched the knight. The sigh was too heavy, carrying a thousand worries that one couldn't possibly decipher.

"I will sleep if I can sleep." Said she unbothered and resumed her walking by indulging her thought afterward.

They walked in silence once again. They relished this quiet time and willed it to stretch onwards. Even when they arrived at the garden's bench, no one said anything as Elizebeth sat alone while absent-mindedly looking at the stars, sir Derrick just stood at her side looking around to detect any unwanted movement at the eerie night.

The stars today were beautiful. Blinking bright in the sky, shining between them, freely without any worries. Oh, she wished to be free like them. She didn't have to worry about money problems, didn't have to care about any life situation, and certainly didn't have to think about which door suited the damn mansion.

"I wish to be a star. Free from anything." Uttered her alone.

Derrick, who heard the words just glanced at his young lady in pity. He took her words entirely in different meanings. He thought the young lady was so worried about her insomnia disease.

"One, two, three, four," she tried to count the real stars this time. Blinking her eyes, zoomed out her retina to see the stars all just to put her into a sleep mode.

Yet, to no avail once again.

The attempt was a failure. Instead of getting sleepy, she only dizzies at how countless the stars were.

'Should I pop the pills for this one time? I wanted to rest. My body is getting heavy though. But what if I died again like last time? And instead, transmigrate, it's an actual death? Should I risk it all? Or not?'

She soliloquized the weight of taking the pills for tonight. Body leaned against the chair, eyes trained slowly to the cold grass below, legs dangling lazily, expressions crumbled into seriousness with a deep furrow.

"What are you doing here, Beth?"
