Chapter 1 Survival Of The Fittest

In XXX-CITY the time was currently midnight and although the streets and business districts were as busy as usual the residential area was extremely quiet to the point that you can hear the loud noises generated by the busy cars on the streets from miles away. The houses of the residents of XXX-CITY were dark which indicated that the people were currently fast asleep except for a few houses that still had their lights or at least a single room in the house was emitting a faint light through the window.

A young man called Fang whose height and appearance suggested that he should be around 19 to 20 years old with gorgeous short black hair that seemed to be made of silk and sharp black eyes that gave people the impression that he was a serious guy. Fang's room belonged to the latter category because of his computer screen that radiated faint light in the room. Fang was currently playing his favourite game "infinite Wilderness" which was a multiplayer survival game where players needed to not only survive in the wild but also find ways to get stronger or else they'll die miserable deaths. Fang kept playing his game for hours and wasn't showing any signs of stopping until a strange ad appeared out of nowhere and covered almost half of the screen which made Fang very unhappy.

"WTF!! STUPID AD BEGONE OR YOU'RE GONNA GET ME KILLED!!!" Fang yelled at the screen from the top of his lungs completely disregarding everyone else that we were trying to sleep, he grabbed the mouse as quickly as he could and dragged the arrow to the 'close' option almost instantaneously as if he's done this for thousands of times in the past but contrary to his expectation instead of closing the ad transferred him to a suspicious website. At first glance, any normal person can tell that this website is highly suspicious and try their best to exit immediately. The website had strange symbols and pictograms that he didn't understand no matter how much he tried, "what the hell going on with this piece of junk why isn't it responding!?" Fang stared at the strange symbols on the website while trying to get the computer to respond to his commands.

After only a minute since the website appeared, the computer suddenly crashed and the screen turned black making the faintly lit room completely dark, normally this kind of darkness wouldn't affect Fang in the slightest since he always spends his time in the dark but after what just happened the dark and quiet night sent chills down his spine.

The screen stayed dark for a brief moment before light returned on the originally lifeless screen. When Fang saw the computer emitting light once more he breathed out a sigh of relief and laughed at himself a bit for being scared for no reason," how embarrassing! if people found out that an old man such as myself got scared by the dark how could I possibly show my face in public again" after calming himself down and stabilizing his heartbeat Fang took a look at the screen and figured that his computer would be displaying his screen saver that he was so proud of but unfortunately for him, fate had other things in-stored.

What appeared on his computer was not his home screen but a big mysterious red eye that covered almost the entire screen. The eye stared at him for a few seconds before moving around almost as if it were scanning him and his entire room before staring straight at him. Fang stared at the mysterious red eye on his screen with a horrific expression that was also mixed with a bit of confusion, it was extremely normal for people to fear the unknown. When Fang felt that the eye was sizing him up he squeezed every last bit of courage that he had in him and reluctantly stared at the red-eye that seemed to be examining his room before staring straight at him which caused their eyes to meet each other and somehow Fang got the impression that the red-eye that hasn't changed at all since it appeared was smiling at him and made his heartbeat even faster sending a lot of blood to his head.

After being locked in a staring contest for 10 seconds Fang could feel his soul which had been very moment slightly shivering. The moment Fang felt his soul shivering because of the red-eye he decided to stop staring at it and promptly get off his sit and run to get help but the moment he tried to stand his body refused to respond and the red-eye that was on the screen disappeared and a blood-red colour cover the entire screen as cracks began to form on the screen bit by bit spreading all over the screen in the shape of the red-eye before breaking apart forming a dimensional rift of sorts which sucked Fang inside without any resistance. After sucking in Fang the screen seemingly repaired itself and the blood-red colour also disappeared leaving a gorgeous screen saver in its place

when Fang regained consciousness he was in a strange place that resembled a forest with the only difference being the gigantic trees that stretched far and wide were all way too tall and a few of them were even 5-6 meters wide and the forest was filled with constant roars that would make even a grown man pee his pants. It was at this moment that Fang realized that he was screwed.

"Damn where am I!? what the heck was that thing!!? I'm so dead" Fang's handsome face usually had an expression that's devoid of emotions and on rare occasions, it was revealed an extremely serious expression was now showing a horrific expression that was a mixture of confusion and despair.

"Am I gonna die here being eaten by beasts? no!no!no! get a hold of yourself Fang or what'll people say if they saw you like this so you need to calm down" after a few moments of talking to himself Fang calmed his heartbeat to avoid getting a heart attack and sat down under a tree near him and raised his head to gaze upon the clear night sky that was filled with millions of bright stars littered across the dark void of space shining beautifully like diamonds. Fang stared at the peaceful scene before his eyes and decided to take rest completely disregarding the hidden dangers in this forest with the simple logic of 'If I die that means I wouldn't have lived for long anyways' Fang closed his eyes and drifted off to the land of dreams awaiting the dawn of a new day that'll be his first battle for survival in nature's rule of the survival of the fittest.
