1 It... failed?

Linri was waiting along with his friends, restless. He didn't know if this was going to work but if it didn't he knew who to kill.

He calmed himself down. This ritual was going to work. No! It HAD to work. Finally, finally, they were going to get rid of the gods plaguing this world.

After the 'Divine War' the world was left in ruins and if they failed now who knew what kind of catastrophic effects it would have!?

The answer was the total enslavement of humanity. He should know. After all, he used to be 'their' chosen one.

Hah!

Thinking about it now; how naive he had been? It was so obvious. He was not a hero or a chosen one of the gods. He was just a chess piece on the board who was thrown aside after he served his purpose.

While Linri was deep in thought sitting on his throne a delicate hand grabbed his arm. He lifted his head to see the owner looking at him with a cold gaze.

Seeing her gaze Linri relaxed. She was Jaime. His lover and the 'Sword Maiden'. Just like him, she was a failure all due to the fate designed by the cruel gods.

"Don't worry, we will get through this" said Linri as he grabbed her hand. She didn't say anything and just nodded her head as a response.

"It's ready"

Hearing the voice Linri got serious and felt the prana inside his body being drained rapidly.

Along with that, everyone in the room was transported in a subspace where there was nothing but darkness.

Linri looked around to see all of his companions still safe. Now it was time to wait. Everyone around him had solemn expressions.

Finally, after an unknown amount of time, a 'person' fell through the pitch-black darkness and fell down in front of them.

It was the God of Twilight.

Honestly, Linri was a little surprised by how ordinary he looked but he didn't let it show on his face.

"God of Twilight! It's nice to see that you can finally join us!" said Linri while standing up from his throne.

God of Twilight looked surprised. He didn't seem to understand that he was trapped and about to die. He tried to speak but couldn't. Linri took great pleasure in this.

"I know this is somewhat of a cliché thing to do but we took away your ability to speak. After all, we wouldn't want you to use your godly magic and kill us all would we now?" While speaking Linri didn't stop his steps and kept walking towards him.

The God of twilight looked scared. This must have been the first time he encountered such a situation.

When Linri finally arrived in front of the God of Twilight he grabbed him by the throat and lifted him up into the air. He could see him flailing in the air. Linri however was enraged.

Every tragedy in his life was caused by the so-called gods. Now that one of them was in front of him defenceless he couldn't stop himself from wanting to snap his neck then and there... but that would be too easy.

"All these years you have CONTROLLED US! Made us believe that we were your avatars, your CHOSEN ONES! Then after making our lives unbearable, miserable and desperate, you left us to rot in this hell hole! No matter how much we prayed, YOU didn't answer us. We didn't have your guidance in our lives anymore. We were lost and didn't know what to do. It was then that we noticed. We were your plaything and NOTHING MORE!" Linri let his rage control him and started to choke God of Twilight harder. He was about to snap his neck when he suddenly let go.

"Did you really think that I would give you, of all people, such an easy way out by killing you? Hilarious!" Thinking what he was about to do Linri couldn't stop himself from laughing. His laughter contained a trace of madness. Yes, he was mad! He became mad because of the one standing in front of him!

Linri squatted in front of God of Twilight's face looking deep into his eyes, seeing the fear deep in his soul. Seeing an omnipotent god tremble in front of him was such a pleasurable feeling.

"Linri, stop playing with him. We don't have all the time in the world. There are still others" reminded Jaime.

"Sorry... this was a little personal so I couldn't help but lose control a little" said Linri in an apologetic tone.

Afterwards, he turned to look into God of Twilight's terrified eyes once more. But at this moment he hesitated.

Linri had gone mad that was a fact but was this really the correct decision? Could he say for certain that he wouldn't be like them after some time?

No! He would never become like them!

Linri's hands were covered in azure blue flames and he punched right through God of Twilight's chest, leaving behind only a gaping hole.

Life slowly drained out of his eyes and everything was over.

Afterwards, everyone took their turn to kill a god that was caught in their trap.

However, as soon as the last god fell something inconceivable happened and the subspace they were in started to shake as if it was tearing up!

Before he could even react to what happened he felt like he was falling through the sky. He couldn't see anything.

Did the ritual fail?

Were the gods really impossible to kill?

Were they going to take revenge on their world as a result?

If so Linri and his friends just became the greatest sinners of humanity.

These were the last thoughts Linri had before his consciousness slipped away.

When he came to himself Linri found himself standing on a rooftop's edge.

He couldn't believe the sight he was seeing. He was in London but how? It was already destroyed till nothing remained of it!

"Don't jump!" a female voice came behind Linri.

Soon after the owner of the voice hugged Linri from behind.

What the hell is going on!?
