16 The Way to the Palace (2)

It was already ten late at night. Just when they were just trying to sneak around and trying to find the right timing.

"What are the two of you doing here?!"

Yuna and Min froze. The two of them were just by the palace walls and looked extremely suspicious in others' eyes. They fought the urge to turn their heads back, and if ever they do, they might see a ghost—or a ghost might be even better. What if it's a palace guard or some nobleman who just wanted to make a mess of them?

"I asked, what are the two of you doing here?!" The voice sounded raspy and intimidating. Yuna could see a hand on her left shoulder and just closed her eyes, afraid to say anything.

Luckily, Min noticed this, and there was a sudden change in his facial expression. His forehead creased, and he looked threatened, but the look in his eyes was different.

"Kind sir," Min faked a smile, and his deep voice went to a higher octave. "Can you give us the time to explain ourselves?" He put his grip on a man's wrist and shoved it away from Yuna's shoulder. "A smart and kind nobleman such as you are would definitely do respect a woman, right?"

Min's voice was sweet and gentle, but his grip towards the nobleman's wrist was forceful and hard. The moment Min was able to defeat that man with his brute strength, he immediately guided Yuna to stand behind him.

The nobleman raised his left brow and smirked; his eyes lost focus, and he held a big bottle of rice wine in his right hand. "What you say and what you act are different! You peasants! How dare you look at me with those piercing gaze?!"

Yuna observed the man. Even though she could not see him clearly because the lights outside in the palace were only from the fire and the moonlight, the man had long straight hair, and unlike Min, he did not wear any bandana. Their clothes were similar, but the clothes that the man was wearing were silk.

It was a great color combination of forest green and teal. The nobleman looked just three inches taller than Yuna, has an average built body and size. Yuna could not see everything clearly for the face, and if she were to point something out, it would be his eyebrows.

The nobleman's eyebrows looked thick and bushy that she wondered what salon he got it made. It looked natural for him, and it looked like he would not need any eyebrow mascara and pencil because of it.

But of course, who was Yuna kidding?

She was trapped in a place where convenience did not exist.

"You imbecile! How dare you stare at someone like me!" The nobleman cursed Yuna, staggering and wobbling a bit. "If you get to know my real identity then you would not even dare to meet my eyes like that!"

She concluded that he was drunk. He was already on the verge of collapsing, but he had the guts to call her names?

"Why is the everything spinning around?" The man started to yell and pointed at the sky; his eyes lost focus again. He just shook his head and tapped his left cheek using his left hand, "I command you to stop spinning!"

"This man looked extremely drunk," Yuna whispered to Min as she was still standing behind his back. "Can't we just knock him out, ignore him and go to the other side of the palace?"

"No, we can't," Min's voice was deep yet gentle at the same time. "If we do that, then this drunk nobleman would tell the palace guards about us sneaking around."

The man was now looking at them from head to toe. He narrowed his eyes, trying to focus on them like they were a bunch of aliens in front of him. He took a step forward, and for some reason, Yuna felt threatened.

"Then, what do you suggest?" Yuna whispered.

The man kept lowering his head and arched his back while holding the bottle of rice wine in his right hand. Yuna could now see his face clearly. Aside from his thick brows, he had a neat looking stubble.

Unlike Min, he had fair skin color. He had deep-set eyes and a chestnut-coloured eye color. He looked pretty handsome and if he did not act so arrogant and self-righteous earlier, then Yuna could have accepted him as one of her future boyfriends.

Sadly, Yuna hated arrogant, rude and self-righteous people. He was definitely a no.

Kidding aside, Yuna wondered what on Earth is Min thinking about.

They actually have no time to waste, and they had to grasp every opportunity they could get.

"Excuse me, young sir," Min spoke as he faked a smile again, and his voice went to a higher octave for the second time tonight. "It is our first time to be here in the capital city of the Goguryeo Kingdom. And we are a couple who helps the kitchen. We were just thinking about how to enter the palace without getting thought."

Couple? Kitchen Helpers?

Where on earth did Min get these lies in a short amount of time?!

Somehow, it made sense. Everything was okay, and the man they were talking to was drunk that Yuna became sure that Min was intelligent and that there was a chance for them to succeed in making this nobleman believe they were innocent.

The atmosphere became tense as Yuna was expectant of the man's answer. She just wanted him to buy Min's lies, and he will just go ahead and ignore them do their business.

"Ah, I see," The man nodded his head as he raised his free index finger and waved it, "You know what, I am a professional in that." The tone of his voice became playful, and his brown eyes glinted; he urged the two to lean in. Even though they were hesitant, they followed him. "This is a secret. I sneaked out from the palace. And I am a prince!"
