9 Speaking Chinese (2)

"Wo ele, gei who jiaozi. Wo xiang anjing de chi jiaozi!" Yuna spoke as if she was enraged with the acts of the merchants trying to imply that she was lying.

She tried her best to look stern as possible. The acting classes she attended were now worth it.

The thing was, she did not expect her to apply all the things she learned as a trainee. Maybe it could bring her positive feedback since she already had a bit of experience doing it.

The first Chinese sentence that she spoke meant, "I am hungry give me dumplings."

The second Chinese sentence that she spoke meant, "I want to eat my dumplings peacefully."

It looked like Song Yuna was able to fool everyone big time. A smirk plastered on Yuna's face as she felt like she already won the hearts of the merchants.

Or at least that was what she thought.

She could hear a snort coming from the young man who stood right behind her. When she turned her head, she saw how he was trying his best to stop himself from laughing. Annoyance became evident on Yuna's face as she nudged the young man's stomach behind her.

Instead of touching a soft tummy, she was surprised when she realized that it seemed like she nudged a hard rock.

Hmm, maybe this man was physically fit.

Did this young man know a little bit of the Chinese language? Most commoners in this period do not really know how to read and write in Chinese, which is the only form of writing available. Does that mean this young man knew about Chinese after all?

The merchants started to do a ninety-degree bow and spoke, "Young lady, we apologize."

The dumpling owner continued the speech, "I apologize for questioning your authority. It was just that someone told me that the coins did not look like they were from the great Song Dynasty."

"You imbecile!" Yuna had fun imitating the tone of the noblemen used in this era. "How dare you to think that I am an impostor!"

"I apologize, young lady!" The dumpling owner dropped her knees on the ground and asked for Yuna's forgiveness. "Please spare me from your wrath."

Yuna immediately felt guilty when it came to this point. She forgot how important it was for commoners not to piss off noblemen and noblewomen alike, politicians, and even special envoys from China.

She realized that she went overboard and went over to the lady who was kneeling on the ground. It was so weird of her to assume a character from the Song Dynasty, but she did it for the sake of getting those dumplings for Rin.

Now that you think of it, Rin and Yuna were separated earlier, and she had to find her to be able to eat the food without being spoiled and give them to her family.

Cosplaying as a special envoy slash noblewoman from the Song Dynasty was over, Yuna decided to snap herself back to reality, stop her ridiculous acts, and help the woman get up to her feet. This hard-working woman did not deserve to get a 500-won that has no value in their own country, right?

Approaching the dumpling owner in a hurry, she immediately bent down and guided her to stand up. "Lady, it's okay. I have already forgiven you. Those coins are my special possession, and only special people have those kinds, so I want you to keep it, okay?"

The good thing was that the dumpling lady stood up and held both Yuna's hands and bow her heads, "Thank you for your mercy, young lady!"

Yuna ended up with an awkward laugh, "Ah, yes, yes."

She shook the lady's hands, but the remaining merchants lined up and did the same. Yuna was there standing up and shook hands with the remaining merchants. As if she did a mini fan meeting at the area, her eye smiles were forced, but it was the best she could ever do.

When Yuna and the young male's eyes met, he saw how he raised his brows at her as if he knew everything.

This young man knew that her Chinese language skills were average or did not suit the place. But Yuna knew that as much as Korean did not differ much here, she was so sure that the Chinese she learned were not that different from there.

"Thank you so much, young lady, and we wish you to have a safe trip here in Goguryeo!" All the merchants said in chorus and did a slight bow. "We will go now."

Yuna watched the merchants leave the area first before she took a deep sigh. She noticed the young man standing right next to her so she turned her head and said, "You. Do you know Chinese?"

The young man just stared back at Yuna with his brows furrowed, "Excuse me, lady. My name is not 'you,' okay?"

"Tell me your name, then," Yuna nonchalantly said, crossing her arms as she shifted her weight to her left foot. "Young man."

"I am not a young man; I think we are in the same age,"

"I know," Yuna rolled her eyes. "But I don't know what to call you, sir."

"Min," The young man repeated his name. "My name is Min."

"Min?"

"Yes," Min nodded as he cracked a smile. "I don't have the last name since I am born from a commoner family."

"Is that so?"

Min nodded again like an adorable puppy but with the same facial features as that of a cat. "How about you? What is your name?"

"Ah," Yuna became a bit more nervous to tell her name for some reason. She became shy and hesitant to share say it. Taking a deep breath, she said, "My name is Song Yuna. Nice to meet you."

"Yuna? Should I call you Yuna?"

"My name directly? Do you think I am younger than you are?" Yuna raised her brow as she put both of her hands in her pockets. "Why don't you tell me your birthday?"

"Do you mean the day I was born?" Min asked, to which Yuna nodded. "I was born on December 22,"

"What year?"

"899,"
