Alone Again

Holding Li Yue in my arms, I stood at the entrance hall of the Shimmering Palace as I watched Da enter the carriage, the grey skinned woman sitting elegantly inside as she waited for Gao Chen to join her.

An, Bo, and Ci were standing behind me, as were a few of the other, less important servants, each one watching as their Master was preparing to set off for months on end into a war zone.

Biting my lip, I watched as Gao Chen spoke quietly to each of them, giving them her orders for the upcoming months, alongside some warnings about anything happening to Li Yue and I during her time away.

When she finally made her way over to me, Gao Chen was smirking as she leaned down and kissed our daughter on her brow, much to Li Yue's amusement.

Trying to give her a smile, I watched as Gao Chen frowned for a moment, her orange eyes hard as she gently placed her fingers under my chin and tilted my head back.
