53 CHAPTER 52: EMOTIONAL TORTURE (2)

Gideon felt his brain stop working when he saw Victoria's headless body slumped on the ground with brain matter splattered all over the place.

"Victoria." Gideon called out weakly as reality began to crash down on him.

"Victoria!" Gideon's voice grew louder, but seeing that there was no response, his sanity began to plummet.

"VICTORIA!!" Gideon screamed in anguish as he looked at the headless body of his beloved sister. His eyes turned red as he struggled violently against his binds to the point that he began to hurt himself. His sister, the girl he had sworn to protect over and over again and was his drive laid dead in front of him.

He screamed for an hour until his voice became hoarse, but even then, he kept on muttering Victoria's name like a broken recorder and his eyes had lost all focus.

"GIDEON!!" Victoria howled in utter despair as she stared at the headless body of her beloved brother who's brain matter was scattered everywhere.

"No no no no no NO! THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!!!" Victoria yelled as she utterly refused to believe the reality in front of her. How could she though? When her elder brother, the only person who actually cared about her in this world and risked his life in the wilderness for years just so that he could meet her again.

She had waited, every single day she waited for his return, and yet, he does just shortly after they're reunited. Just like that.

"PLEASE NOO! STOP THIS NIGHTMARE!!" Victoria screamed in utter desperation, calling for everything to end.

Lin started at Gideon and Victoria whom were still binded by wind and saw the endless streams of tears falling down their faces.

If you hadn't already noticed, Lin had put the two under an illusion. But since Lin is a wind mage then it shouldn't be possible, right? To answer that question, yes, to some extent.

What Lin was doing is causing the air to vibrate and create frequencies. These frequencies however aren't like you usual radio frequencies and could direct interact with one's brainwaves. And so with the right amount of fine-tuning and intensity, Lin could pretty much take control of one's mind.

This required some incredible control however as overdoing it would cause one's brain to explode and not doing enough wouldn't have much of an effect.

Moreover, this would become more and more difficult with how strong the opponent was. But with Gideon and Victoria's level of strength, it was child's play to her. She is also well versed in the anatomy of a variety of creatures and races, so not much of an issue.

She could also read minds to a certain extent as she could display what the brainwaves give out to herself.

"I can't help but feel a bit bad for them. But I need to remove their impulsive behavior, otherwise it would just get them killed in the future." Lin said to herself as she sighed while shaking her head.

Naturally, she could see what was going on in their minds through the illusion and saw their responses naturally. Although she never asked about their backstory, she could tell how close they were from day one, so she knew that they were each other's drive, but to some extent, their weaknesses.

So, she figured that the best way to torture them emotionally was to make one think the other was dying, and she was spot on. Moreover.

"Unfortunately, they'll have to witness it over and over again." Lin said as she began to change the vibrations once again.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gideon still sat with his eyes glued to Victoria's corpse, and if one looked closely, they would see that his eyes had lost all their luster.

But then, just as Gideon considered biting his tongue, something miraculous happened.

A white light suddenly covered Victoria's body and as if someone had hit a big rewind button, the scattered pieces of her head began to go back towards her body, and in a few seconds, her head was restored.

She knelt there with dazed eyes while Gideon's pupils shook revealing a myriad of emotions, the most prominent being joy.

At that moment, Victoria's eyes regained clarity as she looked forward towards Gideon. Then, tears pulled in her eyes as she started calling out to Gideon.

"V- Victoria! I'm here! I'm so sorry. I know it must've hurt, but I'll get you out of there, okay?" Gideon tried to reassure amidst tears her even though he knew that she probably couldn't hear him.

But then, his pupils shrunk as from the ceiling in the room that Victoria was in, a mechanical arm emerged. And at the top of the arm, there was a saw spinning at high speeds.

Both Gideon and Victoria's faces paled when they saw the saw approaching.

"STOOP!!!" Gideon yelled in utter terror as the saw approached Victoria who was struggling fruitlessly against her binds.

The saw stopped when it was near her midsection on her right side. But Gideon had no time to be relieved as in a second, the saw swiped from left to right, soon after, Victoria's lower half fell to the ground while her upper half was suspended in the air by the chains on her arms, organs hanging.

Her eyes widened in surprise before they become grey and lifeless. And Gideon was left on his chair, his brain once again unable to register the reality in front of him.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Why?" Victoria questioned with a broken voice as she stared at her brother's body which was now in two.

A moment ago, she was joyful when she saw that Gideon's head was recreated and he was brought back to life. But her joy didn't last long when a saw suddenly emerged from the ceiling and severed him into two.

The two siblings both under similar illusions were experiencing hell by watching each other due, but little did they know that it was just beginning.
