10 Chapter 9
"Is there a problem?," asked Megan pretending that she didn't see any of the glaring on their face.
"Nah.. Just discussing the cars that we've won, Meg," said Zara, smiling at her, "Anyway, I'm off to bed. Good night,".
She gave her sister in law a small hug before heading towards the apartment complex with Theseus still watching her.
"Well then, looks like I'll be the one who will be showing you and your crew where you will be staying," sighed Megan as she watched both Ezra and Jackson followed behind Zara to the complex.
As they walked towards the apartment, Dylan and the others had stepped out from the main building with Harvey the last one and turned off all the lights and locking the entrance door. One by one, they bid each other goodnight and head towards the apartment, leaving Dylan and Megan dealing with the rest of the Hunters.
"I don't know what's going on between you and them, but just so you know, if you're trying to threaten or hurt my family, I'll destroy you," said Dylan quietly, his eyes piercing Theseus's, "And I'll make sure that we'll take down your empire,".
"Don't worry, it won't come to that," replied Theseus, "Yet,".
He whispered the last part and followed Dylan and Megan to the apartment complex with Jake, Matt, and Freddie, trailing behind him. The complex of course had been renovated with four floors complete with a lobby where there were a few comfortable sofas facing each other. There was a coffee table where stacks of magazines were arranged on the top. The walls were painted silver making it look elegant and the floors were tiled with a soft carpet underneath the coffee table.
A small pantry complete with cabinets, refrigerator, kettles, and microwave were at the corner where Karan and Miranda were both sitting on the counter, drinking coffee and chatting. They gave a small nod to Dylan and Megan before they washed their mugs in the sink and headed towards the elevator next to the pantry.
"Well, this is the lobby of course," said Dylan, "And that's the pantry just in case you got hungry or thirsty in the middle of the night,".
The Hunters took a quick glance before following Dylan and Megan again to the elevator. When the door slide opened, they entered inside and Dylan pressed the number one and the door shut.
"Level one is usually for guests," said Megan, "We've got six rooms in every level. The top one is for the original Phoenixes and spouses or partners,".
"You have guests coming all the time?," asked Freddie.
"Sometimes our family comes for a visit," replied Megan, "Some of our clan here still have family members living outside, especially Meera. She has like nine siblings and quite a large relative member,".
The door opened to a hallway with white wooden doors at the side and all of them walked out of the elevator. Dylan took them to the first door which had the number one zero one and handed Theseus a card key to swipe at the lock, while Megan showed the others their room.
"Try not to lose the key," said Dylan, "If you need anything, there's a phone on the bedside table and a directory for each room next to it. Good night,".
He opened the door of his room and he felt his jaw drop as he gazed inside the soft blue wallpaper room. There was a king size bed with a dark red sheet and four soft pillows, a thick red comforter covering half of the bed and there was a pair of furry slippers next to the bed. There were two bedside tables and a cream colored telephone at the right side of the table with a yellow piece of paper taped next to it, the floor was covered with light brown wall to wall carpet. There was a small desk with a vanity mirror near the window and a large screen television facing the bed.
Theseus noticed there was another door and when he opened, it was a walk in wardrobe and there was another door at the end. To his surprise, when he opened the other door, it led him to a white marble bathroom, with a built-in bath tub and a shower. Clean white towels were folded and arranged in the small cabinet under the sink and there was a toothpaste and soap inside a plastic container on the left side near the sink. He went to check the bathtub and there was another container hanging on the walls where there was a bottle of shampoo, shower cream, and bath foam.
"Wow.. They should open a hotel," said Theseus to himself before walking out of the bathroom and starting to unpacked his luggage.
As he arranged his clothes inside the wardrobe, there was a knock on his door and he quickly opened it. At once Jake, Freddie, and Matt poured in, chatting animatedly.
"Did you check out your room?," asked Matt excitedly, "Man, if they opened a hotel, it could cost like three hundred pound a night,".
"Alliances with them are permanent right?," asked Jake grinning at Theseus, "I mean I want to crash this place all the time even if the mission's over,".
"You have to be an excellent racer to be part of them," said Freddie thoughtfully, "Oh and the WIFI's really good in here,".
"If you were thinking about joining another gang, then let me put a bullet in your brain," Theseus scowled at them.
"It's a joke, mate," said Jake, "But seriously, is there a way we can own this place?,".
"Unless the boss man here gets his move super fast with his Goddess," said Matt with a chuckle.
"Fat chance," said Freddie, "She looks like she want to murder him when they're in the same room,".
Theseus sat on his bed thinking.
"Whatever is in your head, don't even think about it," said Jake quietly.
"What do you mean?," asked Freddie.
Theseus just smirked at his best friend.
"You're not thinking about attacking the whole family, right?," asked Matt suspiciously.
"Nah.. Just a better idea," replied Theseus, still smirking.
"You want to kidnap her, don't you?," asked Jake.
Both Matt and Freddie look at Theseus. When Theseus didn't respond, they looked at each other in alarm.
"Theseus, they're our allies.. We can't just double cross them," said Freddie, "Besides, they have already done half of the plan to get back our cargo,".
"And when the mission's done, I won't get to see her again," said Theseus glaring at Freddie.
"She might be in a relationship, Theseus," said Jake, "She's pretty close with that Karan guy,".
"Then I'll just have to get rid of him, right?," said Theseus grinning viciously.
"And she's going to hate you more," replied Jake.
"I don't care," said Theseus, "Once I've eliminated those who are against it, I'll take her, with or without her consent,".
"When are you going to do this?," asked Jake, "Right after the mission?,".
"You know me too well, brother," smiled Theseus, "Tell our men and give them the location of this place.. We'll start attacking once we get our cargo, tell our men to come to the warehouse an hour after we leave,".
Jake sighed while Freddie shook his head. Matt on the other hand had looked down and crossed his arms on his chest. What they don't know is that the room has a tiny speaker hidden right under the bedside table and the inhabitants of the fourth floor which accommodate Dylan and Megan, Theo, Ezra and Sienna, Zara, Leon and Raven, and Jackson had all been listening in Ezra and Sienna's room. All of them had looked at Zara worriedly.
"Like hell he will touch Zara," Jackson growled angrily.
"How about we cancelled the deal," Leon suggested.
"We can't, it'll look suspicious," said Theo, "Besides, we've already taken the deposit money,".
"Or we'll put Zara in hiding, Sienna and I will go with her," said Ezra wrapping his arm around his twin's shoulder.
"We can't.. If we leave, he'll hurt the others," said Zara bitterly.
"Looks like we're having a Plan B then," said Dylan looking serious, "Meeting on the rooftop at five tomorrow morning.. Tell the others,".
They all nodded and slowly went back to their room. Messages were sent to the inhabitants of the third and second floor and they all understood to keep it to themselves. At half past four in the morning, they all woke up and got dressed for the earliest meeting that they have ever done in history. They all had traces of drowsiness in their face except for Meera. She was up since four in the morning for her Suhur and looking fresh. She even brought them coffee so they could stay awake for the meeting.
Dylan looked at them grimly once he saw that all of the Phoenix were gathered and gave a signal at Sienna to play the audio that they recorded last night. There was a moment of silence after the recording ended.
"What the fuck," Harvey cursed, breaking the silence.
"He's not taking our cousin," said Miranda fiercely as she held Zara's hand tightly.
"That means they're breaching the contract," said Ben slowly.
"I don't think the contract matters anymore, Ben," said Theo, "He wanted to abduct Zara and take her where God knows where,".
"We had a few ideas though," said Megan, "But the plans will have to be carried out separately,".
They all nodded and started to make a plan for the safety of Zara Phoenix and themselves. Two hours later, they went downstairs in a small group not to look suspicious to their guests and headed towards the main building for breakfast acting normally.
