1 C1: Guardians Change Too

Autumn, Central Park (2022)

It had been many days since the Guardians had some fun. A human might say it was decades, but for the immortal Guardians... A century seemed to be small.

The Guardians never thought that the country would develop at such speed. A man finally set foot on the moon, and there were more magnificent toys and machines beyond Klaus's imagination, though Klaus developed even further than the humans.

Such prosperity, but... Utter boredom.

But among the Guardians, there was one... One who was living in Central Park, having the most fun in his life. Jack Overland Frost, the Spirit of Winter, Guardian of Fun, and the King of Childhood.

Jack was tired after running around, all day long with kids in the town. He was their hero, the strongest and the most handsome person, as they call him.

But even being a Guardian is a tiring job, running with kids, being chased by dogs, and making the uncreative adults curious. And he decided to knock himself out in one of the thousand rooms under his tree.

"Ahhh... Another day. Another autumn. Another winter... Days fly like dreams these days," Jack rolled in his bed, waking up from his 5-hour long sleep.

He looked at the clock lying beside his bed, and it read, [10:00 PM]

"My God... Being a Guardian is tiring... Nothing exciting these days... Nothing —"

Suddenly, a waving hand formed in front of him. It formed from golden sand in the air. And he knew who exactly it was.

"Sandy..." Jack smirked, getting up from his bed. "Have you been busy with the mermaids?"

Suddenly, the gesture of the hand changed, and raised a finger, gesturing him no.

"Oh haven't you? Well... What brings you here?" Jack asked from him, getting into his brand new blue hoodie.

The floating golden sand suddenly changed its shape into a group of monkeys.

'Monkeys? Has a group of monkeys escaped the zoo?' Jack thought, not sure what Sandy meant by that.

"Dude... Tell me what it is! I don't get it!"

Suddenly, the door to Jack's room opened and the Sandman was standing in the doorway. 8 feet tall, the most buff body Jack had ever seen. Sandy had changed since the last time he saw him.

Sandy's skin was completely golden since his body was made from the golden sand. His hair was clownish, styled into five points, and glittering like sand. His feet were small as ever though as if his body was the only thing that had become buff. However, he was still wearing that nightdress created by his sand.

"Sandy? My God! You work out every day?" Jack asked from him, looking at the 8-foot tall giant.

Sandy shrugged like he didn't know anything but Jack could see from his eyes that he was laughing at the slim body Jack had.

"Bruh? I don't have an island of mermaids to impress?" Jack muttered, becoming slightly irritated.

"Well... What is the news? Who's attacking? Didn't seen you since that last attack of the huge fearling in Brooklyn. What's happening today?"

Sandy walked into the room and grabbed the remote which was lying down on the bed next to Jack.

Jack sat up on the bed, cross-legged.

"What is it, Sandy?"

Sandy switched on the TV which was right in front of Jack and the first on the recent tabs was Netflix. Sandy smirked at Jack after seeing this.

"I'm immortal, what did you expect?"

A smiley face appeared above Sandy's head and started to make a cackling emoji. 'Wow... Sandy. Wow...'

Sandy switched the TV to a local news channel and threw the remote back to Jack's bed.

[Here, see this!]

The words appeared on top of the TV screen. Jack was astonished to see this. He had never seen Sandy create normal words with his magic; to be honest, he didn't even know that it was possible for Sandy.

But Jack had to focus on the news now because things were interesting on news.

"A ship that carried exported goods came along the Hudson River, overloading not only goods but a savage group of monkeys too. Now, the wild and untamed monkeys are ravaging the city streets. Please be aware! Do not get bitten! We still haven't found where or how these monkeys jumped aboard the ship!"

The news lady told, showing footage taken from a drone. It showed a couple of monkeys, climbing up the buildings and ravaging the streets. The most interesting part was that some were even carrying axes!

"Sandy! So my guess was right!? A break out of a zoo!?" Jack laughed. But still, the fact that they were carrying axes could not be overlooked.

A hand appeared over Sandy's head and gestured 'no.'

[Monkey King and his armies! These Monkeys aren't just any normal monkeys! This is the Monkey King's army!]

The words appeared in front of Jack's face, formed in golden sand.

"Oh... The Monkey King, Tooth's mortal enemy, if I'm correct?" Jack asked Sandy.

Sandy nodded.

"Oh... Well... What should we do now?" Jack asked from the Sandman. Sandy bumped his fists together and cracked some knuckles.

[We gonna make them dream!]

"Huh? Damn... Your personality changed Sandy. Can't believe it... Phew." Jack wiped the sweat on his forehead after seeing the new Sandman.

Sandy has become a superman in no time.

"Wait till I get Twiner!" Jack said, jumping off the bed. He pulled out his right hand and held it up, to fetch his staff, "Twinetender," aka Twiner, to his hands.

In seconds, the staff came to his hands.

It was a long wooden staff, with a G-shaped head at its end. It was the bridge to control his powers. Or he might call his best friend.

"So, let's go..."

Jack turned his head up, to face the ceiling of the room, which was technically the roots of the tree. He thought to open a doorway to the outside and just as he thought that, the root formed itself into an open hole like a doorway.

"Let's go, Sanderson!" Jack smirked at Sandy, taking off into the air automatically.

Sandy didn't fall back. He took into the air using his dream sand to make a swirl and it carried him out of the hole.

Both of them had the power of flight, not under the same laws though. Sandman can take into the air, using his dream sand (the golden sand) as a swirl to carry him into the air.

Jack on the other hand can ride the wind. Though, he requires his staff to keep his balance.
