1 Calm Before The Storm

In the first few moments in my life everything was dark till I opened my eyes. In this world there are many creatures, some being intelligent others being instinctual, the intelligent beast are called perceptual beast, other intelligent creatures being man, elves, pixies, fairies and a few others. Instinctual creatures being savage beasts, living dead, some plants and a few others but they are not seen on this continent so we won't talk about them yet. Oh I guess you are wondering who I am, I am Lily and this is my life and it all started when I opened my eyes.

Looking around blinking many times so my eyes could adjust to the light, I saw my mother looking down on me when she licked my forehead. Oh by the way I was born a lowly fox but I lived happily with my mother, father and my brother and sister. I have been in this world for awhile now as soon I will be getting my first hunting lesson and I couldn't wait. Getting up I greeted my mother with a gentle nudge and went out side to play while I waited for dad to return from his hunting trip. My siblings came out and joined me as we wrestled and nipped at each other, I looked up after awhile to see dad returning home with a couple of rabbits, as he has already eaten, so the rest was for us. Dad set the rabbits down and me and my siblings happily started eating while our parents watched the surrounding area closely. This went on for a week, when it was finally time for me and my siblings to learn how to stealthily track, ambush and kill our prey.

I waking up early today full of excitement and also very anxious as I look at my dad signaling I am ready to start. As we walk out of the den we look at the forest nearby, breathing in deeply we walk towards the forest. Approaching my dad signals to be on alert for something does not feel right. We continue into the forest for a while. My dad stops as he signals for me to watch him as he crouches low before he creeps forward silently, after awhile of showing me different movements he signals for me to copy, I crouch down slowly as I start to creep forward I trip on a branch in front of me. Several hours go by as I practice my stances and moving being careful to not alert anything of my presence .I creep forward silently as I spot a rabbit, checking my surroundings for obstacles and danger I decide it is safe to hunt, as I drop back into a crouch and creep silently to the rabbit. Getting within pouncing range I tense up my hind legs as I ready to pounce in, "three, two, one, now!" I think as my body launches forward towards the startled rabbit but it was to late for it as my fangs dig into the rabbits neck killing it instantly. Turning around to see my dad behind me as he urges us to quickly head home so take off running back home while I carry my first kill with me. After half an hour of running we approach the den and stop. Sniffing around realizing the smell is blood and we bolt into the den to check on my sister who was left in the den alone for my mother took my brother hunting. Looking around as we look down in sorrow to see my sister gone and a puddle of blood soaked ground. Telling me to stay put my dad bolts out to look around. An hour later my mom returns with my dad but my brother isn't with them, I look around trying to find my brother but only smell more blood and no signs of my brother. Eyes watering I curl up in the back of the den when not long later my parents join me as I fall asleep.

Bang!! I wake up suddenly as do my parents as the go to the entrance of the den only for them to be sent flying back into me with another bang knocking me backwards and into a rock splitting my head open as I slowly bleed out, everything starts to fade as my eyes close.
