7 Missions and Report

Gripping the Jade fan tightly, Li Feng's young mind was filled with killing intent towards Yao Cheng despite the fact that he wouldn't be in this world right now if not for him.

After all, all that Li Feng cared about at that moment was how he had never even once been praised by, or even graced with something as simple as a smile from his mother.

And as far as he was concerned, all of it was due to Yao Cheng forcing himself on Xinya.

Standing up in a fit of rage, Li Feng stopped before his raised foot could land on the ground in front of him and fell back on the bed with a serious expression while inwardly berating himself for getting swept up by his emotions.

Who was Yao Cheng? Other than being the king of the Yao Kingdom, he was one of the strongest experts on the entire Great Cloud Continent.

What did this mean? This meant that other than a handful of rivals, Yao Cheng was unbeatable in the entire world!

So, what could someone like him who hadn't even begun cultivating yet do?

Shaking his head with a wry smile, Li Feng didn't forget about killing Yao Cheng to make his mother feel better about him in the future. Rather, all he did was postpone his plan until he was strong enough to take revenge for his mother.

"Did my mother... Leave me any words?"

Smiling bitterly, Yu Yan shook her head and spoke while not daring to look the young man straight in his hope filled eyes.

"I'm sorry, young master."

Clenching his fists, Li Feng didn't regret how he had set himself up for failure right from the beginning. What he did regret was not being a good enough son for Xinya to even take a moment and leave some words behind.

"It's fine."

Shaking his hand and letting Yu Yan relax by letting her know that he didn't blame her, Li Feng was about to ask her to leave him alone when she began speaking.

"Since you've chosen to cultivate and leave this world when you are strong enough, according to the Mistress' orders, I have to disclose the plans she had in place for you."

"What are they?"

"Nothing in this world is free, therefore, the young master has to work hard to obtain everything that the Mistress has left behind to aid you on your path."

Nodding his head as if telling Yu Yan to continue, Li Feng didn't dare miss a single word she spoke since god knows what could be a test.

"There are a total of five missions young master, and when you complete each of them, I'll pass on the rewards to you."

"Reach the fourth major realm of cultivation before turning sixteen years."

"Join one of the four great sects before turning seventeen years."

"Become an Alchemist before turning eighteen years."

"Spend an entire year on one of the three Forbidden Lands."

"And finally, kill Yao Cheng."

Frowning hard as soon as Yu Yan finished her words, Li Feng didn't know if he should feel happy or despair at how high of a requirement his mother had set for him. On one hand, he was a little happy thinking that Xinya assessed his potential to be enough to complete all of the missions, and on the other hand, he was feeling a little despair at how high the requirement his mother had set for him was.

Regardless of which type of cultivation it was, reaching the fourth realm of them in a mere span of four years was something which Li Feng found hard to achieve despite how confident he was in himself.

"Can I know what the rewards are for completing each of the missions, Yu Yan?"

"I'm sorry, young master. This lowly one isn't allowed to do that."

"Well, I don't need to know the exact rewards. How about telling me which path of cultivation the rewards favour more?"

Turning silent since she didn't expect such a question and therefore didn't know if she could reveal the answer, Yu Yan after staying for a while said, "The rewards favour the cultivation of Qi Building, young master."

"I see. That's all for now, Yu Yan. It's been a long day for you. Go and rest for the night."

Sending Yu Yan away after he said those words, Li Feng didn't have any thoughts of sleeping for the time being and instead began reading the three techniques Xinya had left for him.

"Mistress."

Standing on top of the courtyard, Yu Yan was holding onto a brown piece of paper which could let her converse with Xinya despite the distance between them.

Sure there was a huge lag in when Yu Yan spoke into the paper and Xinya who possessed the same looking paper heard her words on the other side. But given how useful it was in conversing with someone who was far away, the Long Distance Transmission Talisman was considered very valuable.

"Yu Yan. What did he choose?"

Taking a deep breath and pouring her Qi inside the talisman which instantly lit up, Yu Yan began speaking non stop to convey everything that happened so far so that she wouldn't end up causing any misunderstanding due to sharing half news.

After sharing everything that happened, Yu Yan let out a loud breath and waited for a reply which arrived after thirty minutes just like it did during the first time.

"Haaa… That son of mine loves me a little too much."

"Yes, he does. But won't this lead to problems in the future, Mistress?"

"Problems? What problems?! If my own son doesn't love me, who will? YOU?!"

Shaking her head hastily at the reply which made her completely forget about the half an hour she spent waiting for it, Yu Yan was about to say something when the talisman lit up once again.

"Just follow my orders and keep him safe. I'll take care of the rest."
