The Way of the Morningstar (2)

With such a monstrous learning capability, Lanselot felt a little uncertain whether he should teach him the rest of his moves. But that thought soon fled his mind as he was soon reminded of his dead son who had not been avenged yet.

"The next move that I'll teach you is called True Eclipse. This is a technique that compromises of a series of moves that when added together, becomes True Eclipse. Now I want you to get ready as I'll be using this move on you."

I took out my sword, waiting for him to make his move when suddenly an energy wave flew straight towards me from the sky. As I cut through the wave and directed my attention back to him, i could not see him anywhere in sight.

Sensing an immediate danger behind me, I turned and saw Lanselot coming at me with his blade flashing. Raising my blade just in time to parry his attack, he vanished again as i jumped back. But just as I thought I was out of danger, multiple energy waves appeared from behind me and distracted me from locating him.

This time he attacked me just as the energy waves were about to reach me, this gave me little room to move and even lesser time to decide on my next action.

Giving up on defense, I stood my ground and used my newly learned technique, Lunar Slash. I rotated my body several times and released multiple energy waves of my own. Because of the lack of preparation my attacks were weak, but I still managed to slow his incoming wave. With the few milliseconds that I earned from that, I swung my arms back expecting a clash with him, but he was gone.

As the match continued, his attacks got stronger and stronger, making me use more and more of my concentration. Occasionally I managed to sneak a few hits in, but it was mostly him dealing damage to me. After 20 minutes, he stopped the match.

"Alright, now do you now understand how True Eclipse works?"

"Misdirection." I answered immediately.

"Exactly, you watch closely on how the opponent moves and base your next attack on that, you'll have to use Flash Step and Lunar Slash to achieve this technique. So long as you keep your opponent distracted, you'll have the upper-hand."

Before long, night fell and the lights went out. The arena fell into darkness so we had to end the lesson there.

"Five hours sure flew by quickly, you have gotten down the basics, I'll teach you more moves over the next few lessons." He sheathed his sword and faded away.

"...Show off," I muttered under my breath.

As I entered my dorm room, Parzival was inside reading a book by the nightstand. I quietly walked up to him and peeked over his shoulder to see what he was reading. The content inside the book was a bunch of magical circles and descriptions.

"Whatchu reading over there?" I asked.

"Uhh, nothing!" He quickly closed the book and hid it away, but not before I caught a glimpse of the title, 'Cursed Abilities and Sealing Magic'.

I took a sit across him and asked, "You really hate your ability don't you? I know it's been really hard on you right now, but you'll have to master this ability to get stronger and be able to defend yourself."

"HOW? This ability is cursed! Every time I wield it, it feels like I'm sinking into a void, only to see my body being replaced by a mindless beast."

~Alphyn help me out here, use your Sage Wisdom and figure this out. I'll treat you something good later.~

~Promise?~

~Yup, anything you desire.~

Her eyes lit emerald green and stared at Parzival. After a few moments, she returned by my side and explained her findings.

~I feel an otherworldly aura around him, there is a very faint tether connecting him to that realm. Every time he uses that ability, the realm gate opens and fills him with otherworldly energies. The more he uses his ability, the stronger this connection will become.~

~Just as I thought, the Abyss Domain. I had a feeling that I felt it before, but now you have confirmed it for me. How in nine Hells did he become connected to it? Someone must have been tempering with the gateway to Hell. Whether intentionally or not, this is a serious matter. They may be trying cause another Rupture. The first one wiped out an entire kingdom, I am definitely not looking forward to a second one.~

I rubbed my temple feeling a massive headache approaching.

"Parzival, I have good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?"

"I'll go with the good one..."

"Well I can put a seal on you that will limit your power so you'll have a chance at controlling it. The bad new is that you are connected to an otherworldly source of energy. Your ability is not a power per se, but an energy that a Domain is giving off. You are simply utilizing the raw energies and molding it into what you called 'Dark Rage'."

"Excuse me... a Domain? What in hell is that?"

"You just answered your own question, it is as you said, Hell. There are 9 Domains inside the realm of Hell and you're connected to the worse one of all, the Abyss Domain. It is located at the lowest depth of Hell, so vile and diabolical that not even the Dukes of Hell themselves would venture in."

"Wow so Hell actually does exist... So what happens if I keep using this energy?"

"The more you use it the more corrupted your mind will become. That is why I have devised a plan to strength your mental fortitude and build up a resistance to the corruption." I grinned evilly.

"Why do I have a feeling that I don't like where this is going..." Parzival said in a scared voice.

Over the next few days, the sounds of muffled screaming could be heard within Eric's dormitory room. Students hurriedly avoided the room, lest they get involved with it. There was a rumour floating around and they even came up with a name, calling it the 'Torture Chamber'.

Currently inside the 'Torture Chamber'...

Parzival was panting heavily on the ground with sweat pooling around him.

"Please... No more, I can't take this any...more," Parzival pleaded in a tormented voice.

"What was that? You want more? I'll gladly fulfil that wish!" I clapped my hand in delight.

~Alp, one more time.~

~Aye Master! Crushing Despair!~

What other way to build up resistance by using pain. I won't say this wonderful method was the best, but it was the most effective.

"Soon enough we can move on to your training, but your mental fortitude is not there yet, until i see some improvements we'll be repeating this everyday!"

"Uuuuuuuuugh... you sadist," he let out a long groan.
