1 Chapter 1 - The First Appearance

A young man sat on the edge of a building roof, staring out toward the setting sun. The fierce winds blew his tunic backward, making it sway sporadically. He had one knee propped up, with his arms laying over it. His hands were wrapped in black cloth, all the way to the middle of his forearms. He sported a pair of black military-style pants, as well as black boots. On his right stood a young woman, who was garbed in a simple white hoodie, accompanied with a pair of Grey jeans and white sneakers. Her blonde hair blew wildly in the waves of the wind as she, too, stared out toward the sun.

After several minutes of silence, the young man stood up and dusted his backside, adjusting his tunic so that it stated in placed in the harsh winds. He sighed and tugged his hood forward a bit, hiding his face a bit more.

The Girl smiled as she placed her hands behind her back and watched in silence. There was a bit of admiration in her vibrant blue eyes as she stared at the young man. She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could utter a single word, great tremors could be felt. Her eyes turned icy and looked out to the distance.

"It's coming," she said coolly, looking back toward the young man. The young man nodded. "Class?" he simply asked. She squinted her eyes a bit, then opened them wide, taking a step back. "I think it's... It's a Reaper class!"

The young man looked to her briefly before turning to gaze into the distance. Small streak of lightning began to dance across his arms and legs. "Inform the council. This is a priority alert. Mages rank A and above only. All others are to assist in evacuation efforts only. Also, assemble the rest of the team-"

"Already done. They'll be joining us shortly."

The young man nodded, saying nothing more. The lightning danced across his body excitedly, almost as if it were alive and knew that it was about to be unleashed.

Fifteen minutes passed quickly with the two standing there solemnly in utter silence, with nothing but the winds roaring past their ears. "Sir." The silence was disturbed with the announcement of that word. Four people appeared nearly simultaneously - three men and a woman. Each wore clothing similar to the young man, the only difference being the colors. The men wore clothes that were either Grey or Brown, and the woman wearing blue. They all knelt before the young man, an aura of reverence emenating from them. The one who spoke was an older man, his skin rough and tan from years of being exposed to the sun and harsh weather. A black beard hid most of the lower half of his face, with only just his lips slightly showing. Sun glasses his his eyes. The man just behind his right shoulder was tall and thin, but well built. His salt-coloured hair waved lazily even with the harsh winds. Just a quick glance and one could tell his body was lean and muscular. The woman, on the left side was tall, the tallest of the group. She had her red hair pulled back into a ponytail then fell down over her right shoulder. Her skin was pale, and marked with light freckles, but those only served to make her stand out even more. On certain days when the sky was a certain color, she practically disappeared because of it. She was muscular, not as muscular as the man with the beard, but her muscles were still evident. It was something she took pride in. The final member at the back was short and skinny. At first glance, one might think he was malnourished because he so thin. But this was not the case. He could eat enough food to provide for all of them.

"We're all here." the bearded man said as he glanced to the young man before him.

"It's a Reaper class. The first we've ever en ountered. Alert has already been sent. We'll be the first to engage. Let's get this done quickly. It's the boss's little girl's birthday tomorrow." the blonde girl said, as she turned to face the group, her smile gone as soon as they arrived, replaced with a serious expression.

"The little princess, eh? How old will she be?" the redhead asked, a bit of an accent in her words. The young man stood there for a moment, before answering. "Four." He looked down to a backpack that had been lying near him this entire time, a small smile appearing on his otherwise stoic face. "I've already bought her present, too."
