13 Chapter 11: Zombie Apocalypse (3)

Princess Alice together with Cartlon, tries to find a person who needs help. They walked and walked until they saw a woman crying and screaming for help.

She was stuck at a carriage and zombies are trying to break it. Zombies run towards the carriage and as the woman screams the more they come nearer to her.

"We need to catch their attention by any means. With that, zombies will leave the girl alone."

Cartlon looked at the princess, sighing and breathing deeply. Well, she's right. They have to divert the attention of the undead into something else.

"I have an idea!" He exclaimed.

Princess Alice replied, "Say it."

"Save the woman and run back to the food store. I'll make them fall into a trap. Are you ready?"

Alice looked at her in disbelief and said, "No! It's too dangerous Cartlon!"

"Trust in me, your majesty. Don't worry because I'll be fine." He replied.

Alice has no choice but to agree with his plan. If they will not do anything, the zombies will feast the woman's flesh.

Cartlon told her to run away from him. She was too quick and quiet.

"Let's do it!" Alice uttered, with a thumbs up.

Cartlon gasped and earn some energy and strength. His goal was to divert the attention of the undead and he will run back to Alice.

He planned to stand at the abandoned house. It is easy for him to escape from them by the windows.

"Heeeeeeey! Hungry zombies!" He shouted and his voice echoed. He uses a steel to create sounds, he was hitting something to catch the zombies interest.

Zombies quickly leave the woman alone. They were walking towards to Cartlon.

"Alice, noooooow!" He shouted and Alice runs to help the other girl.

"Cooooomeee closer, walking dead!"

Cartlon steps back gently and ready himself to escape.

"Grrrrggg!"

Zombies growled as they come nearer, closer to him. Cartlon grinned as all of them entered and fall into the trap. As soon as they stepped inside the house, he quickly runs towards the window on the right side.

He blocked it upon eluding and he moved back to the main door of the house and locked it.

However, the zombies are too strong and tough to be deceived. They're trying to break the door by pushing it hard. Cartlon tried to stop them but sooner or later, the wooden door will be broken.

"Alice! Help me!" He screamed as he barricades the door.

While Cartlon having a hard time barricading and stopping the undead, Alice runs back to help him.

"I can't help the woman alone! Her right foot was wounded." Alice looks for heavy things to block the door.

"Throw it!" Cartlon said, referring to the lumber.

She throws it out and Cartlon was a good catcher. But they need nails to fasten it, Alice runs to the food store, hoping that she can find nails.

"Faster Alice!"

Alice cursed out of frustration. "I can't find any!" She replied.

"At the back of the cooking area!"

Alice walks into the room, at the end of the cooking spot. She opened it and fortunately, she saw a lot of nails.

She smiled as she gets it and a hammer. Princess Alice smiled at Cartlon lifting up what she had found.

"Here!" He told her where to out the nails.

Alice was not good at hammering but there's Cartlon to help her, instead.

"Give me two of these, your majesty." He told Alice, while he does the thing.

Alice quickly looks for more lumber but she couldn't find anything. She remembered the carriage and so she pushes it until it barricades the door.

The zombies didn't stop pushing and tugging the door. They are eager and anxious to let humanity down, but the Princess of Alicesha wouldn't guarantee it.

"Help me to get out from here!" The woman told them but Alice told her to relax and lowered down her voice.

"Can you tell me what happened?" Alice added, checking her right foot.

The woman gulped and burst into tears as she reminisces what happened to her.

"I was walking back to our house after I went to the market to sell my portraits. I was happy and glad that everything was sold out. But not until I heard someone screaming that zombies are coming. I was shocked upon hearing it and I stayed standing in the middle of a busy street. Then..."

She stops telling them what happened. Alice rubs her back and lets her drink first. "Thank you for helping me. I thought zombies will gonna eat me alive."

Cartlon, observe the place while Alice comforting the girl. She must be frustrated and afraid after what she's been through, earlier.

"Anyway, what's your name?"  Alice asked, starting at her hazel eyes.

"I am Diane,  the youngest painter of Alicesha, your majesty." She bowed to the princess.

Alice smiled at her gently. As she looks upon at Diane, she's at her age too. "It's my duty to help, to protect, and to save my people from anyone and from any harm."

"But, my foot!" Diane exclaimed, because of pain.

"Cartlon! Help me to get Diane from here!"

Cartlon immediately steps closer and help Alice to get Diane off from the carriage.

Diane's right foot was bleeding. Something must hit it or someone hit it.

"What about your right foot?" Alice bent down and look at it carefully. It has a small crevice in the middle part of the er foot.

"I accidentally hit it. Like what I'm telling, someone pushed me into the grass. I don't know who did it but he/she saved my life. I realize that there's a zombie behind me and was ready to bite my arm. I looked around but I couldn't see anyone, I roamed around the street and in my horror, I saw two zombies. I'm afraid and I don't know what to do! Until I saw a branch of the tree, then I used it to hit them. I killed the undead while I'm trembling and dying because of fear."

Diane was too exhausted and depleted. It was hard for her to fight since she was all alone.

Alice looked at her with pity and said, "Shh. I'm here now! I and Cartlon will help you."

"Don't be afraid, starting tonight we will protect you, Diane." Cartlon stared at her sincerely.

Diane can't still believe that the Princess of Alicesha saved her. It was a privilege to her side, meeting and talking with her majesty.

Sahara heard a loud noise coming from the forest that awakens her from a deep sleep. The surroundings were too dark but she can still see the princess, sleeping peacefully beside her.

Her gazed turns into a young boy lying on the sofa made of bamboo.

She looked at her clothes, realizing that the Princess changed it. She sought for her old dress, there's something significant and valuable on it.

"Sahara?" Billy uttered, still his eyes are closed.

She gasped and was startled. "How's your knee?" Billy added and stood up, then rubs his eyes.

"I'm fine now. But, I'm seeking my old dress. Did you know where Princess Shaotzie put it?" Sahara forgot not to tell Billy the truth. She's doomed. She's totally doomed.

Billy cleared his throat and step closer to her. "Princess Shaotzie?! She's the younger sibling of Princess Alice?!"

Sahara nodded embarrassingly and put her index finger into his lips. "Shhh, don't tell her that I already told you about her real identity. Promise me that thing... What's your name again?"

"Billy."

"Promise me one thing, Billy." Sahara looked at him intently and wait for a pinky promise.

"I promise. I won't."

They do the pinky promise and Billy smiled at her.

Sahara sighed in relief, she can't bear to see the Princess mad at the midst of phenomenon.

Billy, stare at the sleeping princess for a moment. He went to the other room and put the blanket on the top of Shaotzie.

"Billy, I'm hungry," Sahara told him while caressing her stomach.

"Wait here, I'll get some bread and potatoes downstairs," Billy replied timidly.

"Thank you!"

He shook his head and went off immediately.

Sahara get off from the bed and step closer to the window. There's a small hole at the upper end and she tries to see what's going on inside.

There's a girl shouting and screaming for help but she heard a man's voice all of a sudden.

"Alice!" It echoed to the forest.

Sahara steps back as she saw a zombie who passed by. She touches her chest out of fear and shock.

"Sahara?!"

"Princess Shaotzie! You're awake!"

Shaotzie looked at her knees and said, "How do you feel about? Billy took for a while in getting herbal medicines for your wound without knowing that I fell asleep."

"Don't worry your majesty. I'm all fine and my heart is not aching anymore."

Shaotzie smiled at her and yawned. "I had a beautiful dream, Sahara!"

"Wait, where is Billy?" She added while seeking for the young boy.

"I told him that I'm hungry so he went downstairs to get some. Aren't you hungry?"

Shaotzie smiled bitterly and replied sarcastically, "I've been starving since Billy went out and he forgot to prepare a meal for us. How arrogant, isn't he?"

Sahara burst into a laugh and halted when Billy showed up with a tray.

"Billy! I'm glad you brought some potatoes and bread!" Sahara said in amusement.

"I know you're hungry, here, eat some." Billy intentionally annoys the Princess. He gave one potato and slice of bread to Sahara.

"I'm here! Anyway, I'm hungry so I'll get one." Shaotzie said, rolling her eyes at Billy.

The three of them ate peacefully until Sahara forgot to ask the princess about her dress.

Billy while chewing, secretly stares at Shaotzie. He saw something in her that catches his attention and interest.

"Why are you glancing at me?"

Shaotzie raised her eyebrows and asked Billy.

"I'm eating. Why would I stare at someone like you? You look like a tiger." Billy and Sahara burst into laughter.

"Lower down your voices!" Shaotzie told them but Billy and Sahara wouldn't obey.

"Grrrrrgggh!"

"Hear that growl? I've told you not to make unnecessary noise." Shaotzie told them.

Sahara and Billy stopped and obeyed the princess. Out of their knowledge, someone knocks on the door relentlessly.

"Let me in! Heeey! Please, I'm begging you, let me in!" A man's voice echoed and the three of them stood up out of fear.

"Please, help me!" The man said, tugging the door.

"Who are you?" Billy asked, preparing his weapon.

He waited for any response but the man screamed and cried out. "Nooooo!"

Billy heard a breathtaking and wild sound of zombies, feasting the man's flesh.
