17 Duel with Townlord

.After Kai woke up, he looked around and shifted the curtain to allow light to enter the room. He stretched his limbs and moved downstairs. As he reached the ground floor, he saw his father cleaning the room with a mop.

After yesterday's night discussion with Daoma. He already had already suggested a way to correct his yesterday mistake and tell his parents about his real identity after having his breakfast.

'Now, the problem is what kind of story should I make up' thought Kai and he went down the stairs.

"Oh... Kai, you've woken up."

"Good morning, Mr. Bolt," Said Kai.

"If you are looking for a place to brush your teeth, go to the backyard. There is a tray with ash, you can brush your teeth there."

"Okay."

Saying that Kai moved towards the backyard and dipped his fingers in ash, then brushing his teeth with it. After he was finished brushing, he stood there enjoying the morning breeze.As he returned to the dining room, he saw Tarika making breakfast and Bolt still cleaning the floor.

He went to sit on a chair near the counter.After some time, Tarika finished her cooking and came out of the kitchen and saw Kai sitting near the counter.

"Sorry for the delay, the breakfast is ready. Would you like it to be served?" She asked Kai, thinking he must be hungry early in the morning.

"It's ok, I am not hungry. I'll just go for a walk outside and come back after a while, then I'll take a bath and eat."

Saying that, Kai left the inn and headed towards the main gate and then towards the east, where there was an open piece of land near the inn.After walking for a while, he went and sat on top of a rock and started meditating.

For him, meditating in the morning had become a habit. He cut himself off from the world and submerged inside himself.An hour later, he opened his eyes to find a middle-aged man sitting right in front of him.

"So you have finally ended your meditation." The guy said to Kai.Seeing his face, Kai recognized him as the only Grandmaster level magic user in this region, Town Lord Alfred.

"May I know who you are, sir?" Kai asked, making it sound like it was the first time they have met.

"Who I am is not important, who are you? Why have you come to my town?" Asked Alfred as he looked sharply at Kai and put pressure in his words.

"I am just a traveler, sir."

"Drop your act. I have already gone and asked Tarika about your behaviour and how you gave her a magic crystal, telling her to confirm it with the Town Lord. You even said I was a Grandmaster. How do you know all that?" Said Alfred to Kai with a harsh tone.

"So you are the town lord. Nice to meet you, sir."

Kai said to Alfred with a smile as he extended his hand for a handshake, but Alfred didn't even look at his hand and used magic to lock his legs.Feeling the change in the earth under his feet, Kai quickly jumped up and landed on the side as hands made out of rocks came out from the ground.

"Oh! You can sense my magic. I am getting more curious about you." With a sly smile, Alfred again cast the magic where Kai was standing and rocky arms kept on coming out the ground as they filled the surrounding piece of land.

Kaiwas completely surrounded by these rock hands.

"Give up kid, you are going nowhere," Alfred said with confidence when looking at Kai being surrounded by rock hands.

"Is that so?" Saying that, Kai jumped 30 feet up into the air by strengthening his leg's muscles from using non-attribute magic.Even when seeing Kai jump high, Alfred's expression did not change.

"Did you think that by jumping high using magic you can escape from me?"When Kai looked down, there was a sudden change as all the small hands combined into one and shot upwards towards Kai.

"Give up!" Shouted Alfred as the giant hand tightly held Kai, crushing his body in its grasp.

Suddenly, Alfred felt a great amount of magic covering Kai's body and with a boom, the stone hand shattered, with large pieces of stone shooting towards Alfred.

A large barrier made up of stone suddenly appeared before Alfred and blocked the fast rock pieces from hitting him.Kai took advantage of Alfred's distraction and concentrated the magic in his fist as soon as he landed on the ground.

Then, in an instant, Kai covered the 10-meter distance and stood near the barrier.

"Take this."

Alfred, behind the barrier, was overwhelmed with the feeling of danger and said, "Not good."

Just as Kai's fist touched the barrier, it shattered like a fragile piece of glass.The sound of the barrier breaking was so loud that it even reached the town.After some time, the dust cleared and there was a deep hole.

"Were you trying to kill me or something? Don't you know the word 'mercy'?"

A giant green ball was seen 40 meters away from the hole.All of its body cracked and with a green glow, it disappeared.Alfred's figure was revealed, but he didn't seem to be in good condition. His face was pale and his body looked like it would collapse at any moment.

Alfred truly was not in a good condition. His body was sweating while he didn't even have the strength to remain standing.

Slowly, Kai walked towards the place where Alfred was.Looking at Kai coming towards him, he saw that he didn't seem to have any sort of ill intention, and even if he wanted to take action, he didn't have any magic power left and just sat on the ground.

"How are you?" Kai asked Alfred as he placed his hand on Alfred's shoulders and channeled magic power from his body into Alfred's.

Slowly, the pale expression on Alfred's face disappeared and he started to feel a warm current flow through his body. Slowly, the exhaustion from battle disappeared.He could feel the vast magic power inside Kai's body, compared to his magic power which was only like a cup of water, was a vast ocean, but he could feel from his magic aura that Kai was only at the peak Master level, but with magic power surpassing his.

"Thank you, I am okay now. You can withdraw your hand," Said Alfred to Kai.

Onhearing Alfred, Kai withdrew his hand from Alfred's shoulder.

"Sorry about that, it was my first time fighting others with magic and I got overexcited." Kai apologized to Alfred.Hearing Kai's words, Alfred seemed absent-minded as thought. "Was that you getting over-excited? You almost killed me! If I hadn't used my green jade armor spell, I might as well have died there." He said as he looked at the apologizing Kai while his left eyebrow twitched."You have grown up kid," Alfred said to Kai with a smile.

Withthe sudden unexpected statement from Alfred, Kai became surprised"Don't pretend any more kid. Welcome back, or should I say, welcome back Kai Seft."

Seeing Kai's surprised face, he felt pleased.

"In my whole life, I have never forgotten a single magic signature. Without a doubt, you are Kai Seft, the child who fell into a space crack. Every child in this town is like my child, and I never forget my children."Kai looked at Alfred with surprise.

"This guy still remembered my magic signature from 11 years ago.""How did you become a magic user, kid? And where have you been all these years,?" Alfred asked Kai with curious eyes.

"It's a long story. First, let's go back, I still have not eaten breakfast nor taken a bath."

"Fine, we'll talk later."

After some time, when town people arrived at the place of the duel, they were shocked when seeing the entire scene. The place was now unrecognizable. There were pieces of rocks scattered everywhere and a hole in the center.
