Kai and others saw Duke holding a piece of paper in his hand and reading it with a serious expression.
Hearing the noise of the door opening, Duke saw Kai and others enter and told them to sit on the sofa.
"Father for what reason did you all us, "asked Diana with a curious expression.
"We have just received a message from capital that the king has been assassinated yesterday night."
"What King has been assassinated?" said Diana and other with surprise as they look at Micheal.
"Yesterday night someone entered the king chamber from the balcony."
"What were palace guards doing?" said Diana
"Two palace guards were guarding the king chamber door, "said Michael
"Palace guards were guarding the entrance of King chamber but still assassination was a success," asked Norman
"Yes, but nothing can be done about it, assassin is still not found and entire royal capital is sealed and no one is allowed to leave or enter capital before assassin is found," said Michael
"Father who does you think will benefit from king death," asked Daina
"I don't know who will benefit from it but current kingdom cannot be left without a king. Economic and social crises are already going on, now king is dead leaving kingdom without any political head"said Micheal with a worried expression.
"We must choose a king as fast as possible."
"But father you know right that king before dying have not declared his successor. So, now we have three princes and among them only one can become the king. Do you think they will not fight for it?" said Diana with a stressful expression.
"This is the problem which is needed to be handled,I know they will fight for the throne.But, we must make the fight end quickly as possible so that Kingdom politically become stable as fast as possible." said Micheal as he drinks a glass of water and with a serious expression and declared with determined tone.
"We must choose whom we are going to support among the princes. We may have always remained neutral but now it's time to choose, our eastern region is already going through economic crises and if some like the previous King becomes the King, the entire eastern will fall."
"Father you should know that all three princes are supported by other three Duke as they are grandson of Dukes and among the three princes eldest son Simon is the most suitable for becoming the King," said Alfred.
"Sir Alfred don't forget he is also Duke William grandson, if not for Duke William, we will not be in such condition." said Norman
"Norman you said it right, even if we support Prince Simon; it will not guarantee that he will not side with Duke William when an important decision is needed to be taken for future of Kingdom," said Michael
"Other two prince is also no good, prince Maximus is a great warrior but is not suitable as king, a King must not only have strength but also mind and vision for future of country as for prince Markas, he is too selfish and only thinks about himself, such kind of person is also not suitable for the position of king."
Hearing Michael, they can't help but feel bitter, nobody among the three princes were suitable.
Seeing everyone mood is down, Kai said his thoughts"Why don't we put aside the selection of prince and look at the topic which you guys are not focusing on, who is the mastermind behind the assassination of King, we need to find it first."
"As for selecting of the prince whom we should support, I will deal with it. I may don't have any skill in government work but I am good at finding people who are best suited for respective work," said Kai confidently
Looking at Kai's confident expression Diana and others were doubtful
'Could he really be trusted with this job.'as they looked at Alfred.Because he was the one who knows Kai for the longest time.
Feeling the graze of his sister and Norman, Alfred sighed
'What should I say? He had been living in jungle with magic beasts for last eleven years and you are expecting me to tell you guys. If you can trust him with such a job or not?'
Seeing the troubled situation his son currently in Michael said"let's put that aside for now. For now start preparing, we have to attend the funeral ceremony of King tomorrow. But you must be careful, as we don't know who is the mastermind,"
Hearing that Diana and others nodded and stood off and left Duke office.
