Zhong Yue was in the status of attaining Dao, just like what Dong Ah explained—Zhong Yue was now infinitely near the Dao.

Any attacks that was directed to him would be spontaneously responded by his subconsciousness; causing him to track the source of the killing intent and neutralize the threats.

The state of sudden Dao attainment was the best experience any cultivator could ever hope for. Being in that state synchonized one with the Dao, imbuing every move they made with the essence of the Dao.

Dong Ah's first two attempts were skills which Zhong Yue's subconsciousness only dispelled with no further actions taken; but Dong Ah's third attempt wielded his soul weapon. At the moment the soul weapons were cast out, Zhong Yue's subconsciousness subsequently identified him as a threat and responded in kind.

As Zhong Yue was wholly immersed in the Dao, he was considered as part of Dao; and it was exactly the Dao that moved his body to defend himself.
