3 Chapter 2

—Ra's Al Ghul's Castle—

Batman confronted Ra's Al Ghul to discuss what had happened to Sam. "Start talking Ra's," Batman said, "how and why did you do it?"

Ra's looked at Batman, "You remembered when we last battled?"

"You were planning to blow up banks," Batman said.

"Accurative inelegant," Ra's said, "I was in the midst of tottling the economy of Europe, but you were on to me. So I sought a distraction, so I hired the Joker."

Batman narrowed his eyes as he looked at Ra's who continued to explain. "When your paths crossed in Bosnia, it was to appear that you happened to stumble upon him. He was paid extremely well to what was intended to be a wild goose chase. Then, he murdered the boy," Ra's looked away in shame, "I did know he would take it that far. I'm afraid that I overestimated my ability to control the Joker, just as I underestimated his madness. It grieved me to be a part of something so brutal."

"You never shied away from drawing blood," Batman argued.

"True, but always with purpose," Ra's said as a counter argument, "always with greater goals. This was simply an unnecessary casualty. As penance, I chose not to make war with you again and attempt to rectify this disservice."

"Rectify?" Batman asked in a tone of shock.

"Yes," Ra's said back, "I had hoped to return to you what you had lost. I have walked this world for nearly six centuries and I do this by bathing in the rejuvenating waters of the Lazarus Pit. Along with it's regenerative capabilities, I've heard that it is also able to do more than just that. It can raise the dead. I managed to obtain the body due to your cover story. I was confident that you wouldn't perform an autopsy. And when we put him in, it went well."

"What do you mean well?" Batman gave Ra's a questioning look as the immortal proceeded to explain himself.

—Flashback—

Ra's Al Ghul and Talia were at the Lazarus Pit as they dipped the body of Sam. It didn't take long for him to come out and as he did, he was breathing heavily and he looked at his hands. The last thing he remembered was getting killed in an explosion and was now awake. He looked at the liquid that he was partially submerged in. He looked around at his body for any injuries and noticed that there were no injuries. He later looked to Ra's and Talia. Ra's held out his hand as Sam looked at it and then back at Ra's' eyes.

Sam had decided to stay and had later received training. He had been improving and was getting familiarized with more combat techniques. He was taking a break and noticed Ra's Al Ghul was talking to a man who had greying hair.

Ra's later approached Sam as he was taking a break from training. The other man with greying hair followed Ra's. "Yes?" Sam asked.

"Meet Sam Fisher. Sam Fisher, meet Sam Scott," Ra's said, "he was one of my students and became a US Spec Ops Agent known as a Splinter Cell." Sam stuck out his hand for Fisher to shake who shook it back, "Nice to meet you Mr. Fisher."

"Nice to meet you Scott," Fisher said back.

—Flashback Ends—

"Fisher had enlisted the help of Scott to help with the Blacklist attacks that happened months ago and that's all I heard since," Ra's said this while looking away from Batman, "Does that answers your—"

When he looked back Batman was nowhere to be seen. Ra's Al Ghul sighed as he sat down on his desk.

—In the Batcave—

When Batman returned from his visit from Ra's he was informed that the team of sidekicks' mission at Bialya was successful. Batman sighed as he was using the batcomputer to track down Archer's movements and where he would be going. He noticed that he has been inside an abandoned apartment for quite some time. He wondered why he has been in the same location for hours so he decided to get out and see what Archer was doing.

When Batman reached the rooftop from across the apartment window, he didn't hesitate to kick the window to enter the apartment. He looked around and saw the Archer's weapons were arranged neatly against the wall. He also looked around and saw an assortment of ammo which he inspected. He was impressed at how high quality they were and knew that Archer must have gotten some ammunition before he left Fourth Echelon. He soon looked at the desk that had a laptop, an OPSAT, and a knife. Batman looked and inspected the knife, it was gold and that's when he knew what it was. It was a military knife that was made of gold kryptonite, like green kryptonite, but stronger and takes away a kyptonian's powers after being exposed through the bloodstream and can cut through their skin as well.

"It took you 5 minutes to come here. Not bad," a voice said.

Batman turned around and saw Archer in the shadows of a hallway. He had his balaclava mask on and his trifocal goggles too. Batman's eyes narrowed as he noticed Archer coming out of the shadows.

"I know who you are," Batman said, "why are you doing this… Sam?"

Archer took off his balaclava mask and goggles and the face was visible in the moonlight. Sam Scott stood there with a straight face as he approached Batman. Batman had noticed that Sam grew some inches and was now taller than him.

"It was a part of my plan," Sam said, walking past Batman while putting his mask and goggles on.

"What plan?" Batman was confused by what Sam had said. Sam started to pack his SC-IS Sniper Rifle and his dual SC-IS Pistols, "After I got enough money, I was planning on leaving Gotham to escape this life."

"So that's why you have been running Black Mask's operation," Batman deduced, "you were controlling the crime to move out of the city. Why though?"

Sam went to his desk as he was getting his OPSAT and gold kryptonite knife, "Because after I died and Ra's revived me and to add on to me being a part of Fourth Echelon, I wanted to live a peaceful life. I had to kill so many people and I knew why you didn't want me to do that. It corrupts you Bruce."

"What were you planning on doing when you got the money?" Batman asked.

"Well," Sam said, "I was then going to have the men go in very dangerous operations that you guys would be able to stop so I could spoon feed you guys criminals to take to Blackgate and after the criminals and dealers have been dealt with, go ghost and move out of Gotham."

Batman took all of what Sam had said and then glared at the ex-agent. "Has it come to your mind?" Batman asked.

"What?" Sam said.

"How would Barbara feel?" Batman said.

Sam looked up at Batman, "Don't you dare go there Bruce. Don't get Barbara in the middle of this."

"She stopped being Batgirl when after you died," Batman said, "She was also the one to find out that your grave was robbed."

Sam looked off to the side and gritted his teeth as he then looked to Batman, "What would you have me do?"

"Come back home," Batman said, "let's solve this problem together."

"What about your new protege?" Sam asked, "You can solve this problem with him."

"He's on a mission with Kaldur and the others," Batman said. Sam had his back turned towards Batman as he heaved a huge sigh. Sam looked at Batman and then nodded, "Alright, but after this I'm done."

————

Barbara was in her apartment and was alone, watching TV. She was wearing a yellow buttoned down shirt and beige skirt. She was told to stay home by Batman and she did as she was told. She soon heard a door knock and started to get up to see who it was. "Colleen? Is that you again?" Barbara got up to open the door with a mug of coffee in her hand, but when she opened the door, she dropped her mug as her jaw dropped. She couldn't believe who was standing at her doorstep. Sam, who was wearing jeans and a black and red flannel that opened up to show a black t-shirt was standing there with a stoic face.

"S-Sam?"

Sam nodded at Barbara who slapped him in the face and then hugged him tightly. Sam didn't hesitate to hug her back as he rubbed her back and reassured her that he was indeed back.

"Is your Dad coming soon?" Sam asked. Barbara shook her head as he looked around, "Okay, because I am going to tell you everything."

"Everything?" Barbara asked.

"Everything."

Barbara and Sam were in her bedroom as she sat on her bed and he still was standing up, he was offered to sit, but he politely refused. He had told her everything from his revival all the way to the part as to why he killed Deadshot and Black Mask.

"Why did you continue Black Mask's operation?" Barbara asked.

"So I could get enough money and leave the city and this whole life," Sam said, "for good. I was going to spoon feed you guys information and reveal who I was later, but you beat me to it."

Barbara sat there and took all the information in and then looked at Sam who started to speak again, "But, Bruce and I have a plan to take the goons down and we are going to need 'her' back."

Sam sighed as he looked to Barbara, "Look Barbara, I-I'm really sorry for not telling you about this sooner. I can't imagine what you have been through after I died," Sam said this with sincerity and Barbara looked to see Sam who had a very guilt ridden expression on his face.

She stood up and approached Sam, "Can I at least get something from you?"

Sam looked at her confused, "What would that be?"

"I need you to close your eyes," Barbara said. Sam did what she told him to do and for a quick second he didn't feel anything until a pair of lips connected with his. The feeling felt warm and was something that he needed, he felt Barbara's arms wrap around his neck as he wrapped his arms around her waist. As the kiss became more heated, Barbara didn't hesitate to turn around and push him on her bed and she started to take off her glasses, unbutton her yellow top, and unclipped her brasserie.

In the morning, the now naked Barbara woke up and was stretching when she yawned and saw Sam was not in her bedroom. Last time she saw Sam, the two had finished having sex and were sleeping together. She figured that he left because Bruce called him for something. She got up and put on a new set of clothes and saw a note on her desk. She read it and it said:

I'll be around for quite some time. I'll see you soon.

-Love, Sam

Barbara smiled as she got out of her room. She soon saw her Dad and started to gulp, "H-Hey Dad," Barbara said.

"Hey sweetie," Jim said.

"When did you come back?" Barbara asked.

"A few minutes ago," Jim said, "I'll take you to school and then take a huge and much needed nap."

Barbara sighed in relief, now knowing that her Dad didn't know about her engaging sexual activities at 16 years old as she proceeded to make herself some breakfast, though she still lingered on the fact that Sam would be around for some time which made her happy. She and Sam can finally catch up after being apart for three years.

————

It was night and Sam was in Wayne Manor's front gates, it has been years since he set foot on a mansion. When the gate opened, he walked into the manor and was nostalgic at how much nothing changed. He proceeded to walk up to the door and saw Alfred there. Sam smiled as he opened his arms to hug Alfred.

"Master Scott," Alfred said, "it's good to see you."

"Hey Al," Sam said with a smile, "it's good to see you as well."

After the two were done hugging, Sam and Alfred went inside the mansion and the two went inside his old bedroom. Sam looked around and was impressed that it didn't change at all.

"He didn't change my room?" Sam asked.

"He kept it as a memento," Alfred said. This made Sam chuckle as he looked around to see the photo of him and Barbara, she was in her Batgirl suit and he was in his Robin suit. "Is that so?"

When the door opened, there was a young boy with black hair and blue eyes. Sam figured that this was the new Robin. "So you're the one who replaced me?" Sam asked.

Dick looked down in sadness and Sam realized that his teasing went too far. "S-Sorry kid," Sam said, "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm Sam Scott, it's nice to meet you uhh…"

"Dick Grayson," Dick said.

The two shook hands and Bruce then came into the bedroom. "Seems like you two have gotten acquainted," Bruce said. He then looked at Sam, "Now what are the people involved in the trades?"

Sam had proceeded to explain the trades and the deals he had them do and what he was going to have them do. Bruce recalled that Sam was going to have them do deals that would get them locked up and Sam proceeded to explain them more in detail. Bruce didn't hesitate to tell Sam that they should execute the plan now and Sam had agreed to it.

————

In the Batcave Sam was in his Spec Ops suit and was showing Robin his trifocal goggles. "This is a sonar goggle," Sam said, "Put it on and it will emit a sonar pulse. It can detect people and others in red and will allow you to see in the dark so it's killing two birds in one stone."

Sam handed Dick the trifocal goggles to put on and impressed was an understatement. "Dude," Dick said, "That's so cool."

Sam chuckled as he soon saw Barbara coming into the batcave. Barbara smiled as she approached Sam, "Thanks for last night."

It was quick for Sam to pick up what she meant and he rubbed the back of his head nervously. "O-Oh, no problem," Sam said, "so I heard that you go by Oracle now, I gotta say I'm impressed."

"Actually," Barbara said, "I think I'm going back on the field."

Sam arched an eyebrow as he started to smirk, "Is that so?"

Before the three teens could say anything, they saw Bruce Wayne in his Batman suit. He approached the three and then went on the batcomputer.

"Archer what's the situation?" Batman said.

"I just ordered the biggest shipment," Sam said, "It is going to come tonight and it will be heavily guarded. I had ordered all the mobsters to come and be put on standby on these three rooftops as Snipers." Sam pointed at the port in Gotham and then pointed to the three rooftops that the criminals were going to be.

"We're going to be needing a lot of people so good thing you have decided to go to the field," Sam said to Barbara, "I hope that your skills aren't rusty."

"Oh please," Barbara said with a smirk, "I think you're underestimating me."

Sam nodded as he looked to Batman, "Do we have your go?"

"You do," Batman said.

————

The plan went really smoothly. It first started with Batgirl and Robin taking down the snipers while Batman took down the people who were on the floor. When Archer came in, he and Batman had staged the fight so that it would be believable. It was long enough for Batgirl and Robin to take down the snipers and then take down the enemies on the floor Batman didn't take down when Sam intervened.

When a car started to drive off, Batman and Sam were already in a grappling position. Batman had 'knocked out' Sam and then started to chase the car, by calling the Batmobile.

"Batgirl, stay with Archer!" Batman ordered. Robin ran behind Batman and called for his motorcycle and when they were gone, Batgirl smiled.

"They're gone."

Sam got up and stretched, "Finally, I was about to fall asleep."

Barbara giggled as they saw all the criminals. "We should tie them up," Sam said.

"Yeah we should," Barbara said.

They tied up the criminals to be put in Blackgate and then returned to the Batcave. Batman and Robin were in the Manor while Sam and Barbara were in the training room. Sam was teaching Barbara new moves he learned while being under the tutelage of Ra's Al Ghul.

The two were now taking a break and were talking about random things. Sam was learning more about this convert team of sidekicks and was now interested about this team.

"So, are you going to be joining the team?" Barbara asked.

Sam thought for a few seconds before shrugging. "I don't know," Sam said, "I need a break from this. I have been involved in killing people for the greater good of the country. I ended up being like Bruce, willing to sacrifice anything for the sake of the mission." Sam sighed as he looked to Barbara, "I need a break after being in that mindset for years."

Barbara gave Sam a gentle smile as she grasped his hand. "Take your time, the team will be happy to have you."

"I hope so."
