4 Chapter 2 (Tribute to Burma)

(A/N: This is a chapter dedicated to the hopes that Burma will finally gain its freedom it rightfully deserves. I have decided to make this Coup happen in the Young Justice Timeline so it will happen in 2010.)

Sam was in the school library with Barbara sitting across from him. The two were helping each other study for an exam they both had, Barbara was studying for Precalculus while Sam was studying Calculus BC. Sam was helping Barbara with certain equations that she didn't understand, but he felt his phone ring and he picked it up.

"Hello?" Sam said.

"Kid, we need to go now," Fisher said through the phone, "Grim's got something for us." "Really now" Sam asked. "Yes now," Fisher said, "I'm outside right now in the car." Sam looked at Barbara and gave her a look as if he was asking if she was going to be okay by herself. She gave him a warm smile and nodded which made him smile. "Okay," Sam said through the phone, "I'll be out soon." Sam hung up on the phone and he looked at Barbara, "Sorry, there's an emergency at Paladin Nine Security."

"It's okay," Barbara said, "Your work sounds important."

"Thanks," Sam packed up his things and walked out of the library and walked to the front of Gotham Academy to see a car with Fisher inside. Sam shook his head as he got in the passenger's side of the car and was driving to a private airfield in Gotham. While they were driving, Fisher looked to Sam. "While you're going," Fisher said, "read a link I just sent you." Sam did as told and clicked on the link in his phone.

"Myanmar Coup: What is happening and why?" Sam read the article aloud. He noticed that it was by GBS and was written by Iris West-Allen (Disclaimer: it is a real article, but written by BBC. The actual author is Alice Cuddy). "Mass protests have been taking place across Myanmar since the military seized control on 1 February. Elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi and members of her National League for Democracy (NLD) party are among hundreds of people detained. At least 21 protesters have been killed so far. Where is Myanmar? Myanmar, also known as Burma, is in SouthEast Asia. It neighbours Thailand, Laos, Bangladesh, China and India. It has a population of about 54 million, most of whom are Burmese speakers, although other languages are also spoken. The biggest city is Yangon (Rangoon), but the capital is Naypyidaw. The main religion is Buddhism. There are many ethnic groups in the country, including Rohingya Muslims. The country gained independence from Britain in 1948. It was ruled by the armed forces from 1962 until 2001, when a new government began ushering in a return to civilian rule." Sam was now absorbed into the article as he continued, "Why is Myanmar also known as Burma? The ruling military changed the country's name from Burma to Myanmar in 1989. The two words mean the same thing but Myanmar is the more formal version. Some countries, including the UK, initially refused to use the name as a way of denying the regime's legitimacy. But use of 'Myanmar' has become increasingly common, and in 2005 Ms Suu Kyi said it did not matter which name was used."

Sam skimmed through some parts that were not important in the article and later saw read who was in charge of Burma. "Military commander-in-chief Min Aung Hlaing has taken power. He has long wielded significant political influence, successfully maintaining the power of the Tatmadaw - Myanmar's military - even as the country moved towards democracy. He has received international condemnation and sanctions for his alleged role in the military's attacks on ethnic minorities. In his first public comments after the coup, Gen Hlaing sought to justify the takeover. He said the military was on the side of the people and would form a 'true and disciplined democracy.' The military says it will hold a 'free and fair' election once the state of emergency is over."

Sam stopped reading and looked to Fisher, "Why is this man important."

"According to Grim's intel," Fisher said, "He has been in connection with the Blacklist and has gained weapons to maintain government control."

"Is there any evidence that supports it?" Sam asked. Fisher's car had a screen between the glove compartment and the wheel and Fisher pulled up a video file which was surveillance footage of the leader Majid Sadiq making deals with Black Mask and the Burmese General.

"So what's the mission," Sam asked. Fisher looked at Sam, "We are going to assassinate the Burmese General."

"Wait, what?" Sam was now confused, "Why are we taking out the General if Black Mask is also in connection with the Blacklist."

"Because Burma is a third-world country," Sam said, "and the police force isn't doing anything. The UN hasn't sent any peacekeepers there so President Caldwell tasked us with taking down the General."

"But—" Sam started to talk, but Fisher interrupted him.

"There are no buts," Fisher said, "the UN can't do anything and we are a US Agency unknown to the public."

"Does the Madam President know about General Aung being connected with the Blacklist?" Sam asked.

"No," Fisher said, "the footage was shown not too long ago. Enough talking, we need to get ready for the mission."

In the Paladin Nine Aircraft, Charlie Cole, Issac Briggs, Anna Grimsdottir, Sam Fisher, and Sam Scott were around the SMI as they were locking on the location of the Military base in Myanmar. "SMI detected the base being heavily guarded around the perimeter," Grim said, "the general is in this tent." Grim pointed to the SMI and there was a tent, "Your best bet is to first interrogate him for more information from the Blacklist and then take down the other troops. There is plenty of vegetation for you guys to stay in." Sam nodded as he looked to Fisher who looked to Briggs and the younger Sam. "You boys ready to take down a dictator?" Fisher asked. Sam slided his SC-IS dual pistols and put them on his leg holsters and then cocked his SC-IS sniper. "More than you know it," Sam said. Issac Briggs looked to Fisher and Sam, "Ready."

They were in tall grass which helped them with staying in the tall grass in the crouch position. Briggs and Sam had sniper rifles in each hand while Fisher had a pistol in his hand. Sam was wearing his revenant suit with 4E pants and stealth-nanofiber boots with a balaclava mask and trifocal goggles that were integrated goggles that emit a supersonic sonar pulse to detect hostiles behind walls. They can also detect mines and security systems with a range of 20 meters. But there is a catch, that being drone operators can disable the goggles within the 20 meter radius.

Sam put on his goggles and there were over three men in the base, "There are three men guarding the entrance of the base." Briggs took out a tri-rotor and had it fly, "Deploying tri-rotor." A small and quiet drone started to fly into the night sky and flew over the base. Fisher and Sam were watching Briggs' OPSAT for live footage of the people inside the base.

"There are 39-42 people in the base," Briggs said. Sam looked to the guarded entrance and then to his superiors. "This is a suicide mission guys," Sam said, he now realized that this mission was going to be really hard to complete. "If we play our cards right," Fisher said, "we will be fine." Sam sighed as he rolled his shoulders and neck, "I hope you're right."

They split up and Sam was going around the perimeter, Sam soon noticed an area that was fenced so he used a military grade knife to cut through the fence and got inside the base. He used his sonar goggles and noticed someone coming near him so he took cover behind the crates. As the military troop passed by, Sam did a corner kill by using his military knife and slitted the man's throat. He used his sonar goggles and walked out of his cover and sneaked past a series of guards that were not looking at his general direction, they were probably distracted due to Fisher and Briggs taking care of the guards and when Sam went near the entrance of the General's tent he heard the General talking to someone.

"Thanks for the weapons, Sionis," the General said, "Did you receive the instructions to get connected with Sadiq?"

"Yes," Black Mask's voice was heard, "Thank you for that. I will be contacting you soon."

Sam soon heard other troops talking to the General in Burmese and was waiting patiently for them to come out. When they came out, Sam was quick to go inside the tent and saw the General who was typing into a laptop. Sam quickly shot the laptop and when the general looked at Sam, he felt two pains on his shoulder as he felt Sam shooting him in the soldier.

"That was for the young protesters that have been shot because of your soldiers," Sam said. He started to get angry as he punched the General in the face. He later picked up the General and pinned him on the floor, "Blacklist talk."

"I only get supplies from Blackmask and Sadiq," the General said in a heavy accent, "Sadiq's location is always random and his next attack will be in DC's Hall of Justice while Black Mask will attack GCPD."

Sam's mind went back to Barbara and he started to glare at the General. "Tell me, why did you want to start this Coup in the first place?" Sam asked.

"For power," the General said, "we said it was fraud as a cover story."

"You don't deserve to live," Sam growled. He pulled out a silenced pistol and pressed it against the General's head, "You have killed innocent lives and detained two political figures for no reason at all."

He pulled the trigger and saw the man's head with a hole inside in the middle of his head. He panted and later heard through his comms that the other troops had been taken down so he walked out of the tent.
