2 Chapter 1 (Redone)

Batman, a 13 year-old Robin, and a 16 year-old Batgirl were at a crime scene and were investigating a shootout that happened in Crime Alley. They encountered a series of unconscious bodies, all of them were from the Falcone Family, they were investigating the sights of a young man whose alias was Agent Archer. According to what Batman was able to get from the computer, he is a top-secret agent known as a Splinter Cell from Fourth Echelon that was commanded by another Agent who went by the codename Zero and is currently tasked in taking down the Blacklist terrorist organization, his age is unknown, but his height was listed as 6'2. Batgirl and Robin were inspecting the unconscious bodies and noticed that they all had bullet holes on areas that were non-vital, but vulnerable like the knees. They were surprised that this man had managed to shoot all of them in the knees, displaying excellent marksmanship that rivaled Deadshot's.

In Gotham Academy, Barbara Gordon was walking down the halls to meet one of her old childhood friends, Samuel Adam Scott. He was standing at a locker, putting away his books and other supplies, he was listening to his music through his headphones. She called him Sammy and has known him as a kid. He was a kid that was raised at a foster home, but due to his rebellious behavior, he was told to live alone and one was assigned to a Military Academy for discipline and when he came back, not only his demeanor changed, but his whole body did a 180. He used to be a lean kid who stood at a good 6 feet, but he was now muscular and tall.

He later was adopted by a man whose name was also Sam, but his last name was Fisher. Sam Scott was standing at a tall 6'2 and was extremely fit and had brown slicked back hair as well as handsome green eyes. She couldn't help but blush at his handsome features and nice smile.

She approached him and he looked at her with a smile while taking off his headphones. "Hey Barb," Sam said with a smile. "Hey Sammy," she said back. She opened her locker and did what Sam was doing not too long ago. Sam stood by and couldn't help, but look at how pretty Barbara was. He kind of had a crush on her for so long and was trying to muster up the courage to ask her on a date. So he started to clear his throat and spoke up, "I was uhh, wandering if you were free to go out on a date."

Barbara then realized what he was insinuating and started to blush. She looked at Sam, "Uhh, hold on." She took out her phone and started to call Dick, "Hey Dick."

"Yeah?" Dick asked through the phone.

"Do you guys need me?" Barbara asked.

Sam was looking at her with anticipation as she kept talking on the phone, but when she hung up she looked at him with a giddy smile, "I would love to go out with you."

"That's great!" Sam said, "do you have any choices for our date?"

"No," Barbara said, "I don't mind where we go."

Sam was now ecstatic, "Cool because there is a Gala at the old Queen Industries building. It was bought out by Victor Coste and is now known as Paladin Nine Security. I am an intern there and was allowed to bring a plus one to the Gala."

"Really, when does it start?" Barbara asked, now excited for this.

"It starts at 7pm," Sam said, "I will pick you up an hour before and wear something nice."

"Sounds like a plan," Barbara said. Before any of them could say anything, the bell rang which indicated them to go to class. "Well, I have to go," Sam said, "I'll see you soon."

"Right," Barbara said, she was blushing while looking at Sam's face and hair. The two walked in separate directions and the two were walking away with giddy smiles.

Back in an apartment, Sam was getting ready for his date. He was wearing an all black suit and black tie he was getting ready for the Gala that he was invited to by Victor Coste, a former US Navy Seal who now created a business empire regarding security. It was Sam's cover story to be a Splinter Cell Agent known as Agent Archer. During his year in Military School, he received special training and a special serum that they used on Deathstroke but was improved to become a Splinter Cell Agent and was granted Fifth Freedom. For those who don't know Fifth Freedom, it is an additional freedom given to Splinter Cells to protect the four freedoms articulated by the US President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the State of the Union Address he delivered to the United States Congress on January 6, 1941. In the address (also known as the Four Freedoms speech), Roosevelt proposed four fundamental freedoms that humans "everywhere in the world" ought to enjoy, including: Freedom of speech and expression, Freedom of religion, Freedom from want, Freedom from fear.

When all other means are exhausted, this unofficial Fifth Freedom permits disregard to any law, agreement or framework of ethical behavior in order for a Splinter Cell to accomplish the mission and protect the other Four Freedoms of United States citizens. As Dermot P. Brunton put it, "All means are acceptable." The Fifth Freedom is also understood as "to do whatever it takes to protect the United States."

For example, with the Fifth Freedom, a Splinter Cell may kill in combat or by assassination, may torture or kidnap people, may deploy on U.S. soil, and may spy on other U.S. government agencies.

Not all missions grant the Fifth Freedom to a Splinter Cell, some of them have limitations as well, mostly because they would compromise it (i.e. no fatality in some missions). And it's not recommended to overuse the Fifth Freedom in any mission, there is no guarantee that a Splinter Cell can complete his mission if he is not subtle.

He walked out of the room and was encountered by a man who had greying hair and a stubble on his face. He was Sam's teacher and was also named Sam, but his last name was Fisher. Sam called the older man Uncle Sam and during missions he called him Zero or Agent Zero. "You ready kid?" Fisher asked.

"More than you know it," Sam said.

"This girl you asked out," Fisher said, "has she been—"

"Yes," Sam said while blushing, "she has been my crush since I was a kid."

"Is this the first step?" Sam asked, smirking. He soon chuckled as he saw his protoge's reaction to the whole scenario. Fisher and Sam kind of had a father and son relationship, though Fisher has a daughter as well, Sam and Fisher started to grow close during his time in training. The young boy would ask for tips and advice on how to do certain things, such as: Hack a drive with your OPSAT, proper usage of guns and gadgets, etc.

All these things had led the two to have a father and son relationship. Sam glared at Fisher while blushing, "Very funny."

Barbara was wearing a light blue dress and had her hair tied in a ponytail as she was putting on the last few bits of makeup. She was excited to be on her first ever date with Sam and the two were going to attend a Gala that was happening. When she finished putting on her makeup, she looked at an old photo of her and Sam when they were kids. The two were playing in the mud and were muddied up. She giggled at the photo and left her room, she soon saw her father who was the commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department. Jim Gordon was reading a newspaper as he looked up to see her daughter in a dress and high heels.

"What are you dressed for sweetie?" Jim asked.

"I have been invited to attend the Paladin Nine Security Gala with Sammy," Barbara said. Jim's eyes widened as he then smiled at what her daughter said. "Finally that boy had the guts to ask you out on a date," Jim said. Barbara started to blush as she walked to the living room to wait for her date, but there was a knock on the door and Jim was quick to get up. Jim opened the door and smiled when he saw Sam in front of the door with flowers.

"Uhh, hello Jim," Sam said, "I uhh, *gulp* came here to pick up Barbara."

Jim gave the towering Sam an unamused look, "Yeah, you should've asked her out sooner." Sam started to gulp a second time despite being way taller than the commissioner, but he was now a wreck. Barbara got up and went to the threshold to see Sam with a bouquet of roses. "Uhh, Uncle Sam had me get these for you," Sam said, handing Barbara the flowers. Barbara smiled as she sniffed the roses, "These are beautiful, Sammy. Thank you."

They later heard a honk and they looked back to see Fisher who was on the driver's seat waiting for them. "You two lovebirds gonna have me wait or what?" Fisher asked. The two teens looked and saw Fisher who was in a tuxedo. Sam looked at Barbara and she smiled as the two grabbed each other's hand and went into the car.

"Bring her back by 10pm!" Jim said. This made Sam look back and nod nervously as they entered the car in the back seat. As Jim saw the two being taken away by Sam's guardian, Jim chuckled, "Despite the massive body change, he is still scared of me." Jim shook his head in amusement as he entered inside his house.

When Fisher parked his car at a towered parking lot across the building they were supposed to go, they looked up to see a tall building to see it being named, Paladin Nine Security. Barbara and Sam were the first ones that got out of the car.

"Welcome to the Paladin Nine Security building," Fisher said. Barbara looked up at the building with awe and looked at Sam who smiled, "I intern here."

"Wasn't this building Queen Industries?" Barbara asked.

"An old friend of mine, Victor Coste bought the building to extend his own business," Fisher said, while getting out of the car, "The original building is located in DC."

Sam stood by Barbara and noticed her amazed expression, he chuckled as she turned to face Sam. "C'mon," Sam said, holding out his arm. She smiled as she wrapped her arms around his arm and they approached the building. They were in a line and in front was a bouncer, Sam took out his invitation and the bouncer looked at Sam, noticing that he brought a plus one. He shrugged and let the two in and Barbara was stunned at the party. It was filled with people of all ages, there was an area for kids where they were playing in the playground and teens were socializing in a soda bar. There was also a table that showed an assortment of foods like pigs in a blanket, pastas, taco, taquitos, and salads.

Sam noticed her amazed expression and he tapped on her shoulder. "Do you want me to get you anything?" Sam asked. Barbara looked to Sam and thought about it for a second before deciding. "Yeah," Barbara said, "can you get me a plate of pasta, please?" Sam nodded and walked off with Barbara staying around the teens' bar and was looking, but her eyes widened when she saw two familiar people coming in the Gala. She saw Bruce and Dick coming to the Gala and wasn't expecting them to attend. She looked in another direction to see Sam coming with two plates of food with napkins in his armpit area of his suit. He handed her a plate of pasta that Barbara asked for and she started to eat. The two sat down at a table and were eating, Sam had noticed she was having a conflicted expression.

"You okay?" Sam asked. Barbara snapped out of it and looked to Sam who had a concerned look.

"Yeah," Barbara said, "I just didn't expect 'them' to be here." Sam was confused, "Who?" Barbara looked to a certain direction and Sam looked to her general direction and noticed his eyes were wide. Bruce Wayne and his school mate Dick Grayson were at the Gala socializing with people.

"How do you know Bruce Wayne?" Sam asked.

"I intern at Wayne Enterprises," Barbara said, "Dick also interns there too."

Sam looked over and nodded to what Barbara said. The two saw Dick approaching them and he smirked. "Looks like Barbara got a date," he said in a teasing tone. Barbara blushed at Dick's teasing while Sam chuckled. "I wouldn't expect Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne to attend the Gala," Sam said.

"Well I am a shareholder of the company," Bruce said, approaching the young teens. He stuck his hand out for Sam to shake. "Bruce Wayne," Bruce said, "I'm sure you have heard of me."

"Of course sir," Sam said, shaking his hand, "Sam Adam Scott, it's an honor to meet you."

"Barbara has told me a lot about you," Bruce said, "good things of course."

Sam chuckled as he looked at Barbara who was blushing at the situation. Bruce chuckled as well and started to walk away, "I have business to attend to," Bruce said. "It was nice to meet you Scotty."

"Scotty?" Sam said with confusion to what Bruce called him. Barbara giggled at his new nickname, "Scotty sounds cute," she said. "I think I will use that nickname now." Sam shook his head in amusement as the two were hanging out at the Teens' Area.

The two were eating food, drinking sodas, and just enjoying each other's time. "So there's been talk about a new vigilante in Gotham," Barbara said, "he has been putting down the mob families that have been all connected to Black Mask, what are your thoughts on this?" Sam was thinking for a minute as if he was taking in what Barbara was saying and then gave Barbara an answer. "Well, I think this vigilante is here to take down Black Mask due to certain things that have been happening in the country, such as the Blacklist attacks," Sam said.

"Surely there aren't any Blacklist members in Gotham," Barbara said, "right?" She looked to Sam who had a conflicted expression on his face as if he was hiding something. "Who knows," Sam said, "maybe Batman and this vigilante could make an alliance to take down a common enemy." Sam later changed his expression into a warm one, "But enough about that," Sam stood up and held his hand out as music was being played.

"Care for a dance?"

(A/N: I am thankful for the kindess Carrots123 gave me and he allowed me to used his Arcs as templates, I will be using the Black Mask Arc. Scotts will recieve training from our boy Sam Fisher later in the story when Black Mask is killed. I will not copy word for word and will try my best to be original with this arc. I hope I can redeem myself with an original chapter and who knows how long it will take for me to make an OG chapter. While you're waiting, you should read another book called The Mechanic and the Earthbender.)
