1 Chapter 1: The End

He could hear the footsteps coming closer and closer.

[18? No.... 20 at least.]

He looked down at his right hand, weakly holding the black pistol. Blood dyed the white portion of the shirt that peeked out from his black suit. He closed his eyes, recalling a several minutes ago...

~15 minutes before◢

[Something is wrong... this man seems far too relaxed, as if he had been resigned to his fate for quite sometime]

Normally the hitman's target would never even know he was there before they died, today was an anomaly. The CEO of Sackson Enterprises, John Sackson, merely sat there smiling wryly after offering his assassin a drink. The mission seemed cursed from the start, after leaving one of the hidden satellite bases and entering the building in New York City he was met with one issue after another. If it wasn't for the fact that his handler told him this mission was a Priority 1 time sensitivity he would of cut his losses and tried another day.

[I can go over the details after I finish the job, and figure out why everything seems to be on max difficulty.]

He looked at John Sackson one last time, and as his finger squeezed on the trigger the man said his final words with a wry smile.

"Well at least I won't be going alone..."

A feeling of foreboding swept over the hitman and he instinctively moved to the left. At the same accompanied by the sound of shattering glass, Sackon's head looked like it exploded as he felt a searing pain on his right arm.

After that everything went to shit. The alarms blared and the hitman found himself chased by the entire building. After killing countless people trying to escape, his injuries built up and finally caught up with him. He now found himself bleeding out as he heard people approaching his position.

[I was an ok life.... I think?]

He saw her pretty face, her soft blue eyes and shoulder length blonde hair. She only smiled after he briefed her after a successful mission.

"Job well done Agent 30."

She smiled ever so slightly as she said that. That face always brought an odd feeling to him, something he didn't understand, but he knew it wasn't bad. He tried to find the best words to convey this to her, but ended up saying what he always said.

"This is what I was created to do."

The slight smile on her face vanished, she closed her eyes and nodded her head.

"Yes... that's right... this is what you were made to do."

As always he wasn't sure why her smile always faded when he said that, but he would always instinctively say the same words. As she walked away, he felt the lack of that 'not bad feeling', and went to do the one thing he wanted to do... play Devil's Gate.

[I wish I could see her smile again... I wish I could play Devil's Gate again...]

Agent 30 saw the platoon of solider coming down the hall. He put down his pistol, and then pressed a few buttons on his watch. A number 10 appeared on his watch and began to countdown. He closed his eyes, thinking about all the things that had that 'not bad feeling', and as he opened them he was greeted by a blinding light, ear splitting noise, and intense pain. Then it all immediately stopped and he felt nothing. The first and only surviving specimen from the latest 3 series finally found peace.
